I posted this on Google, but I felt so strongly I had to come to Yelp and post it too:…read more Stride Physio is the best physical therapy practice in the world, hands down. This may sound dramatic, but Trevor and the staff here have literally changed my life. After six years of two right knee surgeries, knee instability, chronic pain, and over a half dozen physical therapists in three states from high school, college, to now, Stride Physio helped me turn everything around. After ten months, today was my last session. Six years ago I completely blew out my right knee skiing off a jump: ACL tear, grade III MCL tear, and meniscus tear. I had a surgery, went through intense athletics-based PT within the Stanford University collegiate training program, and went to college elsewhere and played an NCAA sport. I had instability, chronic pain, and was in constant fear for five years. One year ago I was playing pickle ball and blew out my right knee again. ACL and meniscus tear. I was devastated, and they told me I already had arthritis in my knee at 21. I had another ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair, and the procedure was not pretty, they had to do more since my knee was in such bad shape, and they found the previous surgery was not as good as it could've been. I moved to Seattle and found a PT in SLU, but they weren't as good as I wanted them to be, so then I came to Stride in August of 2022. I saw Trevor and he has helped me recover for the last ten months. The 1:1 focus, knowledge, and care at Stride is unmatched, and Trevor is so incredibly professional, casual, and kind. All of the therapists help each other and constantly are trying to improve, and the front desk staff were very kind to me. It is such a positive, healthy, and encouraging environment. Stride felt like a second home to me, and would always turn my day around. Many times I'd have a terrible and discouraging day, but I would walk in and be warmly greeted by the front desk staff and have a productive session with Trevor, and I would come home feeling amazing. The depth of knowledge that all of the therapists have is incredible, and the attention to detail and respect for the patient's needs is above and beyond. They somehow strike the perfect balance of pushing you to your potential, while ensuring you aren't in too much pain and respecting your body's needs and limits. The equipment they have is adequate and they have everything you'll need. They have a large range of treatments from soft-tissue massage to cupping to squatting in their gym. They even offer yoga on Thursdays. The billing is clear, and the system they use for at-home exercises is effective. Now, I am biking 50+ miles, hiking, running, and signed up for a triathlon in August. My knee feels stronger than it has since before my first tear back in 2018, and my mental health is better than it's been in a long time. I have Stride to thank for all of this. If you are looking for a physical therapist, don't even think, just come to Stride, you won't regret it.

After only one session with her, there was marked improvement. Seven weeks later I've made even more progress and will be continuing weekly sessions. I am able to view videos of each exercise on IRG's website in my personalized care plan, which is super helpful. Also, Cierra is a pleasure to work with. I appreciate her attention to detail and her willingness to help WRT scheduling and answering any questions I may have. We've worked together to schedule appointments one month out at the same time each week, which helps with planning. She is organized, helpful, quick at any customer-centered computer work she needs to do for patient requests. She is friendly in an energetic but not loud way. I felt like she was being good with privacy but also proactively helpful. I appreciated that she wore a mask properly (2023 covid surge at time of this review). The location is hard to navigate so leave extra time before your first appointment. The building has stairs at all the entrances except one and the one with an elevator is the farthest from the parking lot, If you can't use stairs be sure to park on Wallingford ave and go down the ramp to the basement entrance, or park at the southwest side of the (free) parking lot and walk up Wallingford Ave. Parking is plentiful except when kids are being dropped off for daycare, at that point it's adequate. This is a franchise business and it has some annoying franchise features, such as asking for ratings. Ratings create an oppositional relationship between patient and caregiver, especially when you are asked to reduce a complex interpersonal communication like a caregiving relationship down to a number between 1 and 5, and the pressure to give people perfect scores. We shouldn't be asked to rate our caregiver as part of a symptom progress survey. It could disturb our and their treatment mindset. I also think that the 40-45-minute appointment format with all documentation being done during the patient appointment puts pressure on the practitioner. It seems like a sink-or-swim situation that would favor experienced and confident practitioners over new graduates. If the patient has a lot of issues to report and discuss, the patient documentation requirement will take away from treatment time. This situation is one that glaringly shows how there is too much business-mindset interfering with providing healthcare. That being said, I worked with Dr. Paige Vivian and this is a well-run clinic. I felt like my care was nuanced and that Dr. Vivian was able to adapt to my lack of interest in using their very comprehensive app/website for therapy tracking. They have an extensive library of exercises with videos and references that make it easy to do your home program between office visits, and I appreciated their facilities at making well-organized printouts (on a superquick instant printer) so that I could refer and track my work for the week right on each exercise printout. The exercises were also grouped in a logical order, though I don't know how much was Dr. Vivian's expert management of details vs their software system features. The whole clinic is spacious and relaxing, with lots of lush plants, clean facilities and organized equipment. They did seem pretty consistent in changing pillow covers and spraying down tables between patients. I have seen MUCH WORSE in franchise clinics. The folks that work here are dedicated and clearly very hard-working, and able to focus in on patients with different needs and communication styles. In some cases in spite of the way the business has been set up. I would recommend this location.

I also volunteered as a student athletic trainer for four years in high school. On 07/16, I chose to try AMI Physical Therapy to rehabilitate and resolve tightness in my upper back and calves because of the reviews and the proximity to my residence. When the time arrived for my appointment, I stood outside the door for 10 minutes, as they didn't provide me (beforehand) with the door code (which is required) to enter. During that time, I called the number listed on the door as instructed, but received no response. I was only able to enter when a mail delivery person let me in. Next, when it was my turn to consult with my physical therapist, Aaditi Gokhale, she was extremely rude to me throughout the entire process. As someone with ADHD, I have to remind myself to slow down, and Aaditi politely mentioned this once. After that, I made a conscious effort to slow down, reiterate my thinking, and keep my responses concise. However, she remained extremely condescending and dismissive of my concerns. Before we went through the consultation process, I explained my intentions and goals with PT, specifically that I was seeking muscle release, scraping, etc. She immediately laughed it off and said those were just temporary fixes. While I understand her perspective, I mentioned that I have lists and numerous resources for strengthening my muscles, as I know my body well and how to accommodate it, and was really just looking for this aspect with PT, yet she insisted she knew better and essentially dismissed my input as invalid. She became visibly irritated when I used terms like trapezius or labrum tear shoulder, seemingly perceiving it as if I thought I knew more than her. While the consultation process was demeaning and insulting, I shrugged it off and was still ready to proceed with PT. But again, she was completely impatient, rude, and belittling, explicitly saying, "Did you not watch what I did?" in a very condescending manner and adding, "I am only going to show you this once." This was extremely irritating, yet I still treated her with respect and professionalism. On 07/17, I called at 8 a.m. to reschedule one of my appointments, as we had booked out six weeks in advance. I was able to reach the office quickly and successfully change the appointment. I also wanted to ask a quick question about the focus of future visits and whether we could leave a note about my original request for muscle release and scraping. I was put on hold and transferred to Aaditi Gokhale. I greeted her and began to express my concerns, but before I could finish, she said, "Say that again," followed by, "Is this important and urgent right now? Because I need to go." I replied, "No worries, I just wanted to leave a note. I didn't know I was being transferred..." but she cut me off and said again, "Is this important? I don't have time right now." After that interaction, I was truly baffled by how rude she was and decided to cancel all my future appointments. Even though the location is within a five-minute distance from my residence, this experience was so disappointing that I would rather find another clinic that is actually willing to listen and accommodate my needs instead of handing me a pre-printed sheet of exercises I could have found online. Based on my observations this day and my interaction, this location would probably be beneficial for older adults on simple muscle strengthening exercises, but for younger, intensive athletes (I am 21), this is not your place. I'm sorry to the other physical therapists at this location, who are probably phenomenal people to work with, but this experience with Aaditi Gokhale, was truly upsetting. Thank you.

I can now do all the above with some stiffness and no pain. I would not have made it this far without physical therapy and my physical therapist Cheyenne. When my sports medicine doctor told me it might take a year to completely heal, I didn't believe it. Now I do. She also warned me repeatedly that if I did not stretch every day, I may not regain full function. She did indeed scare me. She gave me one steroid shot that felt awesome for two weeks. The second shot, 3 months later, lasted a blissful 2 1/2 months and I took advantage of the absence of pain by adding an additional PT session a week.. Cheyenne provided me critical training and support, and helped me make demonstrable progress. I always feel better after PT than before. She has the innate ability to find an exercise or two or three that addresses my shoulder stiffness, stretches the appropriate muscles, and hurts--but in a good way. The stiffness is not static as it abates and seems to shift around my shoulder from week to week. Sometimes it seemed futile because I would make progress, go to sleep and then wake up in pain and with limited range of motion again, but over time I have seen real progress. And that is mostly due to Cheyenne, her support--kindness, empathy, encouragement, and humor--and her ability to provide effective training and treatment. Cheyenne kept me motivated. And she gives the best massages. She knows how to maximize range of motion through stretching, exercise, and massage. The staff are friendly, patient, and more than competent. Scheduling and billing always go smoothly. All the therapists here are great and effective. The center has a big workout floor with all kinds of equipment. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming and supportive. It is a healing place. I accept that I will probably still be here in October, which is an achievement in itself. If not for Cheyenne and SRS, I might have left earlier and never completely healed.
