Dr. Li gave me my smile back. After time and time again going to different dentists to help my two front teeth look bright and beautiful after getting a root canal, I found Dr. Li. Other dentists have performed the same surgery on me giving me crowns but they still looked gray and not beautiful. When I moved to the bay area I was looking around for a dentist and yelp helped me find Dr. Li. From my first visit I knew this would become my regular dentist because of their warm welcoming. Came in last week with my husband as new patients and we are both not convinced that this is the dental office we will keep long term. We both got the feeling that the dentist we saw wanted to "up sell" us on everything. Before the appointment, the front desk called to request x-rays from my previous dentist which was fine. Today was another call to see if I could go in 15 minutes early on my next appointment. Many of us are working moms who run nonstop, so let's limit calls to only necessary ones please. I will go back in a few weeks to get two fillings which aren't immediate needs. Still questioning if there's really a need at this point, but I deferred extra in my FSA to spend, so ok. I've come to this location several times. Everyone is super friendly and welcoming. This time it was Dr. Jeff Yoshihara who assessed my teeth. He is very thorough in explaining what I needed done and even showed images/ location of problems. I'm actually in the middle of switching jobs and explained that I needed to get my fillings done as soon as possible before my dental care cut off. He was very accommodating in that he rearranged my treatment plan so that I'd be covered instead of coming back as a self-pay patient.Dr. Yoshihara completed all my fillings with attention to detail, patience, and with very light hands. He and his assistant checked on how I was feeling the whole time and even put Netflix on during the procedure. They even stayed later than usual as they are very thorough with the work that they do. I have been to Dr.Li's dental office to check my tooth that has been bothering me since I heard a lot of good things from my friend who comes there all the time. Dr. Yoshihara recommended to change the filling and assistant Fritzie took xrays where he explained perfectly the procedure and took care of me. Even the front staffs, Sora and Stefanie has been so nice that they made me take home a dental kit and I made sure that I am going back and so they made my next visit on my desired date. I am very confused why yelp has such high reviews of this place because I honestly had a very bad experience in many aspects. First, their nurses are incompetent: on the day of the operation, they almost injected anesthesia into the wrong side. This is a very low level mistake because they should be looking at these x-rays every day. If you make a living off of it, you'd better be able to at least tell left and right and not accidentally pull the wrong tooth right? Second, they are very incompetent: they applied not enough anesthesia and I can feel the pain very very clearly while they are trying to pull my teeth out with brute force and I had to indicate them to stop and after they stopped they are still trying to convince me that it's `pressure' not `pain' - I am a human being and I can tell what is pain ok??? Is it your teeth being pulled or mine??? And the doctor spent half an hour trying to pull my bottom right tooth and couldn't get it out, and told me he may need to transfer me to an oral surgeon. Can you imagine how that feels like when you are in the middle of your tooth being pulled, already was hurting like shit because of not enough anesthesia, and having lots of bleeding because they are making too much of a wound because their skill is not good enough to get it out fast, and heard that you might need to live with this half out teeth for another few weeks before getting it out??? I almost got a heart attack. Luckily they were eventually able to get it out, but even a year after that experience I still have nightmares of that day. And because they made such a large wound that the healing process was extremely painful - it took me more than a month until I cannot feel clear pain, and in the first 2-3 weeks the pain would wake me up during my sleep. And lastly, they seem to be trying to scam my insurance company. They first told me my insurance covers 50%, and had me pay 50% of the whole bill which was around $300, so by induction the whole bill should be $600. But a month later I got a bill from my insurance company saying the whole thing is $900, which was a shock to me because on none of the bills was it this much. So I think they were trying to pretend the procedure was more expensive than it is to get more money from my insurance company. But they failed because the procedure they claimed to my insurance company wasn't covered. So eventually I had to pay THE WHOLE THING out of my pocket. All in all I am very very very confused why this place have all 5 star review on yelp. I would not come here. read more

I found Dr Li's office on Yelp and am very happy with their office so far. I was matched up with Dr. Lim and was scheduled right way for a cleaning. I had been having some pain at the site of a recently placed Onlay (by another dentist) and she was able to spot on the X-rays that it was not placed correctly and was allowing new decay. Unfortunately I needed a crown placement but she numbed me up and made sure the procedure was pain free and as comfortable as possible. I had a super easy time scheduling an appointment as a new patient (was slotted in the next day), whereas other dental offices only had availabilities more than a month out. Dr. Lim was great! She was extremely informative and easy to talk to. Would definitely recommend :) Edit: I thought I had clarified if they took my insurance, but maybe I wasn't clear enough with my question. They aren't part of Metlife's PDP network, so MetLife will only pay out of network amounts. I didn't realize this until I saw my insurance statement. I called the office, and they said that for cleanings, etc. they won't bill me for the uncovered amount. However, if you need real dental work, you should consider that out of network costs are higher. read more

I've had a lingering fear of going to the dentist, and after years of neglecting dental care, I finally decided to bite the bullet and go to this dentist. Dr. Cho made it comfortable for me, and reassured me of a long-term plan. He was so casual and comforting that he made the dentist visit seem so normal and everyday. He explains everything, and answers any questions I may have. The entire staff there is very friendly and helps you with everything. They make sure you get the discounts you can get, and walk you through everything insurance-related. Going to the dentist can be very intimidating, but everybody here makes it a much more comfortable experience. I had an extraction and a deep cleaning performed by Dr. Cho, and had no complications. He makes sure you are comfortable, and tries to make sure you feel no pain. The office also checks up on you after the procedures to make sure you're doing okay. The doctor explained to me the long-term plan that would best benefit my teeth, and I will be going to this dentist for every step! read more

I needed to have braces because my wisdom teeth have crowded my alignment. After going to another grumpy dentist (who wouldn't even let me finish talking), I came across Dr. Li on the list. Since we were both Cal grads, I thought I would give him a try. The first consultation was a very good experience. Dr. Li offered two options (the faster vs shorter alternatives) and provided detailed explanations on my case. I was able to understand my situation and came to a decision feeling at ease. The staff was all super friendly, and I was really impressed that the estimates came out very fast and accurately. The payment plan is also flexible and reasonable. And it was then I knew I had a good start with Dr. Li. I had my braces on since last July and all the visits with Dr. Li have been pleasant. I remember during one extraction I felt very anxious and nervous, and Dr. Li was very nice and patient about it, constantly checking if the pain was more than I could handle. (Not like some dentists just GO at it...horrible cleaning experience) Moreover, I can really SEE visible results with my teeth alignment! Both my husband and I are extremely happy with Dr. Li. Dr. Lim was amazing - gentle, attentive, and great at understanding and answering questions. The last quality is less common than you'd expect, but Dr. Lim had no problem explaining what she saw on the x-rays, evaluating my past dental work, and showing me visible problem areas using the little mirror. She investigated the problem spots I pointed out and recommended me a conservative treatment plan based on what I believe was what she truly thought was best for my mouth health. read more

My husband found this place based on a superabundance of 5-star Yelp reviews. I tagged along. My first dentist was Dr. Ohn, whom I liked. Then it was Dr. Lim, whom I liked and had a good rapport with. The one time I tried to book an appointment online, I got the man Dr. Li himself. That experience was really weird. But not as bad as what my husband experienced. On a previous visit, Dr. Lim had noticed enamel that had worn away below the gum line and said I had caused this by grinding in my sleep or more likely, brushing too hard. She recommended a composite filling, which I needed time to warm up to (never had a filling in my adult life)--so I ignored it. The first time I met Dr. Li, he rushed through my cleaning, and then told me I needed composite fillings--on FOUR TEETH. He made me watch videos showing how brushing too hard had caused this, and recommended I get these four fillings taken care of ASAP. Then he left me with an assistant to finish polishing me. She was very sloppy--knocking the metal polisher thing all over my teeth and jabbed the floss into my gums--HARD. The whole ordeal was kind of slimy. Not taking fillings lightly, I asked a dentist friend and went back to see Dr. Lim who helped confirm that I did not need those extra fillings. A few weeks later, my husband (B) went in to see Dr. Li. But there's a backstory. A year prior, B had gotten a partial crown from Dr. Li on a chipped front tooth. Dr. Li was filing it down to smooth it out. When he stopped, B informed him that the area was still rough, so Dr. Li filed a bit more and then said it was fine. And that was that. At home, B realized that floss regularly snagged on this rough spot that Dr. Li had overlooked, and B had to adjust his flossing habits accordingly. So back to the most recent incident. Dr. Li finishes telling my husband he has to get a full crown ASAP on a different tooth because an abscess is forming, and proceeds to floss B very aggressively. His floss got caught on--you guessed it--the rough spot on the crown that he himself had created. He tugged once, tugged twice, and the third time tugged so hard it jerked B's head from the headrest. B felt something give way, and a small, smooth object landed on his tongue. Dr. Li not only knocked out a filling that HE HAD GIVEN MY HUSBAND, but all he said was, "Huh! That's weird." Later, B got his quote from the front desk for the new, urgent full crown AND to fix the partial front crown that Dr. Li had broken. When B said, "but the doctor broke it," Dr. Li came out, shrugged, and said, "It would have broken anyway." B did not feel comfortable letting Dr. Li near his teeth again. He got a second opinion and turns out, he did not need a full crown on the new and different tooth--but they did find "food traps" on previous fillings by Dr. Li. read more
