David, Helena, and everyone at David Alan Jewelry have gone above and beyond to help my husband and I. When shopping for an engagement ring, David assisted my husband in identifying, selecting, and styling the ring that I dreamt of. His team nailed every detail from small to large and they continue to help by cleaning and maintaining my engagement ring whenever I call to ask! When it came to wedding bands, David and Helena were incredibly helpful to point us in the right direction and create personalized pieces of jewelry that are perfect. From the material to the color to the stone the team at David Alan helped us design the rings that we wear everyday. Everyone at David Alan could not be more personable, friendly, and ready to make any dream become reality. As a disclaimer, I started this process not knowing much about jewelry or design -so I came with lots of opinions and very little knowledge. I spoke with dozens of jewelers, before settling on David Alan designs and I couldn't be more grateful for their input and service. David Alan (a custom design jeweler) designed my dream wedding rings, and I couldn't be happier with the experience! From the moment I contacted them, they were incredibly responsive and easy to work with. They listened carefully to my ideas and preferences and were able to offer helpful suggestions based on their expertise. The final product was absolutely stunning! The ring was exactly what I had envisioned, and the quality was top-notch. It fit perfectly and felt comfortable to wear all day long. I was also impressed by the jeweler's exceptional customer service. They were always friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to ensure that I was satisfied with the end result. Overall, I would highly recommend this custom marriage ring jeweler to anyone looking for a high-quality, personalized wedding ring. David Alan Jewelry - Jewelry Near Me - New York, New York

As soon as you sit down in David's NYC office, it feels like you're picking up a familiar conversation with one of your closest friends. It's non-judgmental, understanding and you leave wanting to come back. I spent time at Tiffany's, Cartier, Harry Winston, etc. And while the experience was nice, it just felt like I was buying a piece everyone already had, while paying a brand mark-up. A friend is someone who wants to share their knowledge with you, guides you with trust and is there for you. David is incredibly passionate and experienced in all aspects of jewelry, he patiently answered all my question from the ring to the accent stones to the center diamond. During the center diamond selection process, David didn't push me towards the most expensive stone, rather he suggested the one that best completed the perfect ring for her finger. At the end, I was also able to personalize small details of the ring, with guidance from David of course, so I also had a story to tell. Being involved in the creative process is not something I could have done at Tiffany's, Cartier, etc. What's even more incredible is that after the ring was complete, David and his team were able to recommend options for jewelry insurance and remain there to clean/adjust. We loved the process and consider David, Helena and the entire David Alan Jewelry team as family. We couldn't imagine working with anyone else. read more

We commissioned three rings from David Alan: a traditional engagement ring, and two wedding bands. Overall, we had an excellent experience, and are very happy with our rings! Our experience might be somewhat unusual, in that both partners were involved in the engagement ring design process. David had a real talent for translating our open-ended, somewhat general ideas into concrete designs for jewelry -- in our case, he seemed to understand just what we wanted for the rings. David was also able to deftly handle the business side of the transaction with just one of us, which was very much appreciated. The process of developing our wedding rings overlapped the coronavirus pandemic in New York. David was very accommodating throughout, and I think he worked hard to make forward progress on the rings during that time. Overall, we were very happy to work with David Alan, and would happily recommend him to others. We hope we'll work with David again soon! read more

When you come to David Alan, you're not just getting a piece of jewelry, you're getting an experience. When my fiancé and I came to his boutique, we immediately felt like we were sitting with an old friend. We couldn't be more happy with our jewelry designs, and we are excited to design future pieces with him. His staff is great, and his wife is absolutely lovely! If you want a meaningful piece of art, skip Tiffany and Cartier and get something that is personally designed and individually tailored just for you. Come to David Alan! read more

In summary, David Alan is a gentleman who is a pleasure to do business with and his craftsmanship and expertise is second to none. Unbeknownst to me, my husband had met a number of jewelers to create my custom engagement ring but knew instantly that David was the right choice when he visited his studio in midtown. Friendly, down to earth, knowledgeable, meticulous, passionate about his craft..essentially all the things you want in a partner to make the most important piece of jewelry you will ever set about creating especially when (like my husband) you know nothing about jewelry! I can also personally attest to all this being true because I now visit the studio every month to get my rings cleaned and it its a pleasure to visit him and his team every time. read more

Everyone I know has "a guy" for jewelry, I have friends telling me all the time and all swear by them, but now it's my turn to talk about MY guy. And that man is David, he's the real deal, very personable, knowledgeable and all around cool dude. I was looking to get a ring for my wife on our anniversary and had researched all over the the area, couldn't find what would best describe my wife, until I met David, he really made the custom experience simple for me, asked me her styles, and personality, and created something I could only dream of. After giving my wife the ring, he insisted he speak to her and educate her about the care instructions of the ring. I have never had anyone go beyond the level of customer service as he has. read more

We came to David Alan for his expertise in hand carved jewelry to match my antique engagement ring and or my husbands custom wedding band. We also came to him because we really liked him as a person. He's so sweet to work with! He was able to compliment the style of my 1920's engagement ring and make a band with a perfect fit. My husband really wanted a wedding band with white turquoise which upon Davids advice, would fall out sooner than later because of its softness. However, David was able to accommodate us with his signature mens band that carries the stone on he inside, not the outside, and what matters most is that my husband knows its there. He loves it and shows it to everyone! We had called other jewelers about the turquoise and they all flat out said they were not interested, but David was very excited and ambitious to work with our ideas. He is genuine, professional and compassionate with the hospitality of a southern man. We loved the entire process. 20 stars. read more

Finding the right engagement ring for my fiance took so long that she actually became my wife long before discovering David Alan. After meeting David though, it was a no-brainer as to who would be helping us finally find the right engagement ring and wedding band. Long story short, my and my wife were engaged and then secretly married in a pretty short space of time whilst in the UK, before moving to NYC. We had over a year before we would be marrying (properly) so we took our time finding the right engagement ring and a wedding band. We met a few people, a few off the shelf designers and hit up the diamond district but it's a complete maze and you feel like you're getting shafted on price by people who see you as tourists. Not with David though. Perhaps unusually or not, me and my wife were both part of the process with David. I remember inquiring on the phone after a bit of Googling, for an appointment initially and talking with David in great detail over style, budget, personalities, stories etc... Our first meeting with David he started from the beginning of it all, explaining everything about rings and diamonds - this was useful for us. His passion is second to none and this shines through his work and the way he builds relationships. After that, we probably caused David a few headaches flip-flopping over designs and in our case, the budget! He was the most patient man who absolutely wanted to give us the right ring. What we settled on was by no means settling. It was perfect. It was everything we wanted from a ring, but more importantly perhaps was it was a process that we enjoyed being on. If we had picked up the exact same ring from a different place, it just wouldn't have meant the same thing. David, Helena, his team and his family were part of our engagement and our marriage now, and we couldn't be happier with that. Thank you David for everything. We're now back in the UK and when we're over next, we'll be sure to come visit you! Lewis, Jenna & Saya x read more

My fiancé and I can't say enough about the experience David Alan Jewelry provided us. In looking for engagement rings we started with the common practice of visiting different NYC retail jewelry stores. Needless to say that left us dealing with non trustworthy salespeople, impersonal treatment, and overpriced rings. This, even at stores like Tiffany and Cartier (we would find out later just how much of a rip off these stores actually are). From the moment we walked into David's office we knew we found someone we can trust, someone looking out for our interest and not his own. David takes a very personal approach. First he spends time explaining and teaching about precious stones and all the various options out there. He then asks lots of questions knowing that every new bride-to-be has a different taste and dream. David is so patient and does an unbelievable job at figuring this out. Our first meeting was over an hour and not once did he try to "sell" us or pressure us like those fancy stores. By our second meeting at his cozy and comfortable office, he had thought up three options he thought would be appealing and he was dead on. All were fabulous and with his help we picked a style, shape and size range. At our third meeting, David brought to us a half a dozen stones for us to choose from. It took over an hour and as always David was super patient and supportive. Three weeks later the ring was ready, and my fiancé formerly proposed, and ever since every time I look down at the ring I still get chills. Almost everyone I interact with (and strangers too!) comment on how beautiful it is. Knowing what I know now, I really don't understand how anyone can go to the fancy retail shops. My ring is so personal and not cookie-cutter. Just as important is the value. My ring would be over twice as costly at the big named retail stores. David and his wife Helena (who works with David) were both such a pleasure to share this experience with. They are smart, thoughtful, fair, and 100 percent trustworthy. With no hesitation whatsoever I would recommend David Alan Jewlery and I'm so grateful to have gotten to share this once in a lifetime opportunity with them. PS - can't wait to meet David and Helena again to choose our wedding bands. read more

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience with David. He has now designed and crafted my engagement ring and both of our wedding bands, that we just exchanged this past June. My husband was in search of a talented designer to create the perfect setting for the most stunning cushion cut diamond that he had procured, and he found David through intensive research, emboldened by an immaculate record of amazing reviews such as this one that I am leaving today! I will tell you why.... Not only is David a master craftsman, but his passion and love for what he does shines through from the very first minute you spend with him. He truly cares about your experience, not just in wearing his jewels, but the moments and the memories they represent. He is an absolute pleasure to work with. Warm and genuine, he makes you feel right at home upon arrival. His work is truly stunning and his attention to detail and quality is impeccable. You cannot find a jeweler who puts more care and passion into everything they create, than David Alan. Thank you David! We look forward to working with you for years to come. i went to see david based on a good friend's recommendation, not knowing what custom jewelry entailed. but from the moment you walk through the door, there's such a feeling of warmth and comfort...not usually associated with gems and precious metals. after speaking to david for a while, you realize this is no comparison to the experience of going to a retail jeweler. at a store, you're looking for a general style that suits you, whereas here, he will design a piece to reflect and express your personality. plus, you can give him your input every step of the way i'm glad i made this choice and i'm sure my wife will love it even more! read more

As a professional in the fashion industry, I've had the pleasure of working with David in several different capacities. As an expert source for information on all things fine jewelry, he is an unparalleled wealth of knowledge, and now, having made my wedding band, I can also speak for his work on a personal level. He was able to complement my antique engagement ring, right down to hand-selecting new diamonds to match the unusual grey color of my engagement diamond, while incorporating my own personal style. As other reviewers have said, once you work with him, you know he'll become your "jewelry guy" for life. He will stop to answer every single question you have along the way, from terminology to ensuring you have an in-depth understanding of the creative process, and is uniquely able to offer suggestions without ever seeming pushy or upselling. He is more than capable of creating dream pieces with massive diamonds and endless pave, but will put the same care and attention into creating a simple, stone-free band. It would be a disservice to recommend any other jeweler - David is the best there is! read more
