History
Established in 2009.
Dave's Tool and Die was founded in 2009 by David Hand after he left JS Tool in Alpharetta, GA. His inspiration for the company was a favorite local Mexican restaurant; their salsa had changed and he wanted to know why. It turns out the owner's custom salsa blender had broken and there was no way to get a replacement. Inspired by this and with several decades' experience of tool making and machining, Dave decided to purchase some equipment and rent a shop space in a local office park. "I figured I would make this salsa blender, maybe fix a few things for some local farmers, see where it would take me" said Dave. Shortly after that a local automotive parts supplier found the company and made it their "out-of-house in-house machine shop" with standardized pricing for tooling and guaranteed quick turnaround times.
Meet the Business Owner: David H.
A Canadian citizen by birth, Dave has made his way to Georgia first through the Army and then to New York. He met his wife in flight school, through their mutual love of aviation, and eventually they settled in Cumming, GA. Alongside his day-to-day machine shop work, Dave also builds and rides custom Harley Davidson motorcycles and nitro drag bikes and follows the motorcycle drag racing circuit. In the off season Dave spends the weekends watching football or NASCAR, hanging out with the local motorcycle chapter, and tinkering in his shop. Nearly 50 years of machining experience with early inspiration from his father have made Dave not only an excellent machinist and entrepreneur, but also a trusted mentor among the engineering community and teacher of young hands-on types who are interested in entering the field.
