First time here. Dave's hot chicken has been open for a while now and I've been wanting to try them. I must say, they were better than expected. Their chickens were not greasy and they have different levels of heat. Some people may be afraid to try them thinking they won't be able to handle the heat. I ordered their hot chicken sandwich with fries at the hot heat level. The fries were seasoned and really good. The chicken had a good flavor. I like spicy food and I think I can go higher than the hot heat level. Service was great. The guy at the counter explained to us the different heat level and made some suggestions of what we should try for a first time there. Casual dining atmosphere and I noticed a lot of on the go pickup orders while we were there. I would dine here again.

Single slider basket deal. Mild level.

Daughter got Single slider basket deal. Mild level. Was the perfect spicy. Daughter ordered this. She is not into spicy too much. She said she wants to try a level up on spice next time. Her recommendation (11year old) is to smother it with honey. She is addicted. Basket comes with fries. Drinks sold separately. Cheesy fries. The way the cashier guy explained it to me was that. It's a layer of fries, A layer of cheese, another layer of fries and topped with cheese. That was not the case. Definitely only cheese over the top only but it's ok. I would've preferred my cheese on the side in a little dippy dip cup. Fries. The fries over all are good. Crinkle fries and the seasoning is not too bad either. I won't say you can't really mess up fries because some people actually DO, but these fries were cooked to perfection. All in all. The food looks delicious. I'm not really a chicken sandwich person so I was really only bringing my daughter for lunch to try it out but she said it's her new favorite place and since she is MY child she has a pretty wide taste palette and knows good food vs average food but since she also follows trends, I will give it a 6/10. Employees were nice and came to a couple tables to check how people were liking the food and they got orders in and out pretty quick. The space is small. It can fill up pretty quick.

First time trying this restaurant. Walked in and it was very busy. At first was worried about finding a seat but we did. We ordered the two tenders with fries. I did not get any sauce. My husband had the mild. The chicken was very juicy and the coating was crunching and very tasty. The fries had a coating on them which brought them to life! We ordered and got our order very quickly. The restaurant was clean and colorful. We will definitely go back in the near future! Staff was very nice! Highly recommend Dave's Hot Chicken!!

Food was great never been here before. Got two chicken tenders. That were huge fries were wonderful. The Dave's sauce was spicy but flavorful you can get it many different types of spice and it's rubbed in. I got medium and it was fine. We definitely go hotter next time cool ambience with the music playing. Not cheap but no fast food as these days service was impeccable definitely go back.

Been wanting to try this place out since their grand opening but it is never in our way. Tonight, we made the trip. Totally worth it! 10/10 I was not feeling the heat so I got #4 (chicken slider with coleslaw, fries, and pickle) with "mild" level . It did not disappoint! Don't be fooled by "slider" It is as big as regular chicken sandwhich. However, I wish it was chicken pattie and not 2 pieces of tenders on burger buns. It kept falling apart. The tender was moist and flavorful. Also, best fries in town!!! And the dipping sauce is the party of the show. We came in late on a Sunday night. There were constant people in and out. But our food came out really quick. Maybe less than 15 minutes wait? I will be back.

We actually had a very nice experience today! Came in during lunch rush and got through the order line quickly and got our food fast. Great menu selection and heat options. We were impressed with the freshness and spices, the crispy fries and the quality of the chicken. We will definitely be back and recommend to friends!

I've stopped in here to pick up dinner, and ordered via DoorDash a few times now, so I think it's fair to say I'm a fan. There was a ton of hype surrounding Dave's when it first opened so I was a bit worried it might be overblown as often new chains that open up in the area are. I'm happy to report though that as unhealthy as this addiction is, I love Dave's Hot Chicken. First things first. When we ordered for the first time we noticed they sell "sliders" I want to let folks who haven't been here yet know that a slider is (at least to me) a full on sandwich here. I find that one slider with fries is more than enough food. I think the first time I ordered I did one slider, one tender, and fries, and I didn't even touch the tender until the next day. Those are also huge BTW. Now onto the food: overall, it's great. The chicken has fantastic flavor, the sauce is better than Cane's, and the fries are tasty. I do think the fries could be a smidge better, but I mean for a fast food place I think they rank pretty high in my book. Some of the reviews are complaining about the price. I honestly don't see that as an issue. Is it more expensive than say, McDonalds? Yes, but it's also a lot higher quality, more filling, and you get more food. DoorDash is fast with Dave's and if you order online and pick up it's even better. The one time I stopped in to get my food on the way home from an event I found the restaurant clean and inviting. I'm honestly not one to dine in at a fast food place often, but this one felt nice enough to be worth the experience. Overall Dave's has become one of my guilty pleasures and I think if you're craving a really great fast food style hot chicken sandwich this is an excellent choice.

Two slider meal, one medium and one hot.
Dawn C.

It was an OK experience. Our cost for two meals and one drink was $33 so I'm rating them based on that. If we can get a similar meal at a fast food place for $10 less you have to really step it up to make it worthwhile to me. We couldn't tell a difference between the Medium and the Hot chicken. Near the end I think I figured out which of mine was spicier. We came ready for spicy and it didn't deliver. I guess we should have ordered Extra Hot..but the level above that required you to sign a waiver so I figured Hot would be Hot enough. This might be your new favorite place though because though the heat and flavor didn't match my expectations I found the chicken to be juicy and well breaded with crispy coating. The potato buns were soft and fresh. There were extra pickles and their mayo-sauce in the basket. The fries were hot and well seasoned. It was served quickly and there was room enough for a group of friends to come and hang out. The dining room had fun painted murals and ceilings. I think perhaps that like Pizza, we all just have our own particular preferences for chicken.

Chicken nuggets - Medium- I like a little heat not a lot but these were not spicy at all.

Food was delicious, pricey but what isn't nowadays. Service as good, no issues at all. Restaurant was clean the custodian was maintaining the restaurant as needed. 4 stars due to price.

Hot slider and medium tender with fries.

Tried Dave's Hot Chicken for dinner this week. We must have gone at just the right time, because there was no line and we got our food very quickly. All the front counter help were super friendly. The hot has amazing flavor, and the tenders are so crispy with just the right amount of heat. The medium was good, but I'd get Hot and the extra Hot next time. Definitely put that honey all over your chicken, and they give lots of pickles on the side, huge bonus for me. I didn't get the macaroni and cheese, but I've had it before at a catering and it was delicious. The shakes looked good, but I was too full to try one this time, there's always next time! The atmosphere is fun and casual, only downside is we didn't find the chairs to be comfortable, but that's not important with chicken this good!

Mac & Cheese

I decided to try the newest hot chicken spot on the the block. I ordered online and it was ready to go right on time. And the order was actually accurate. I tried the one tender, one slider meal. I had considered getting an extra tender but after reading everyone's reviews about portion sizes, I decided not to. I was definitely full, extra tender unnecessary. I ordered the slider In medium. It had no spice but was still good. The slaw was fresh and it was more of a regular sandwich size vs a slider. I ordered the tender in hot but I found it still lacking heat. The chicken wasn't dry and had good flavor. The pickles are good and nice and fresh. The crinkle cut fries are standard but delicious. We did get a side of cheese sauce and it was basically cheez whiz. The Mac and cheese wasn't my favorite. I found it had a plastic aftertaste to it and it reminded me of frozen stouffers version. I will definitely be back but will probably opt for the 2 tender meal but in hotter varieties. PS. Their chicken logo reminds me a bit of Taylor Swift...

Came out to try the new place, staff is accommodating, lobby is unique and plenty of seating. The line was long, 1 hr from the start to order, food came out pretty quick and was hot. I offered 2 #') 3's and 1 # 4 I would give it a 3.5 out of 5 on flavor portion sizes were great and daves sauce is 5/5 on it's own. I personally had mild which was not spicy at all ( wanted flavor over heat) The fries were 3.5/5 as well decent seasoning good crunch to them as well. If you haven't been come out and give them a try.

Dave's first KC metro location served up some somewhat tasty Nashville-style chicken and delicious fries during my opening day dine-in lunch but there was room for improvement. My #3 meal {$12.99 without drink) included a tender on a piece of white bread, a tender sandwich with kale slaw and Dave's sauce, crinkle cut fries and pickles. I picked up my order when the beeper went off just three minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was efficient and accommodative. I was also checked on by a manager - nice! I liked the Nashville-style chicken with seven different heat levels. I tried the medium heat level. It was salty and a little tangy. The tender was nicely sized, not especially thick and somewhat moist. It was served on a piece of very stale white bread. The slider had a smaller tender, a fresh bun and tasty kale slaw without much apparent kale. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the best fries I've had in quite a while. They were crinkle cut, not greasy, crunchy and extremely flavorful on the outside while being meaty on the inside - nice! I found the dining area to be clean and new with an urban graffiti theme and 80's background music, but the music was quickly drowned out by the noise of the opening day crowd. I noticed some unsettling stinginess like the extremely small, laughable (4 oz?) water cup and the thin napkins that made me question if they had also cut back in other unseen areas. The #3 meal wasn't a value at $12.99 before a drink, but it was a lot of food. Next time I'll order just a tender with fries a la carte because they don't offer that as a meal. Overall, I'm going with 3.5 stars and rounding down for the stale bread and the obvious stinginess on items related to the customer experience.

Portions were generous -- this isn't a place where you leave hungry. What caught me off guard was the salad. It came out genuinely crisp, not the wilted afterthought you get at most fried chicken spots, and they layer it right under the chicken so the greens stay fresh while the chicken sits on top. Small touch, but it says a lot about how much attention they're paying. Fries were double-fried and it shows -- shatter-crisp on the outside, still soft inside, finished with parm and herbs and a strong dipping sauce lineup. Reasonably priced for the quality and portion size. I'll be back.

The nostalgia hit me the moment I walked in, it genuinely felt like I was back in Korea, enjoying fried chicken with a cold beer in chilled glasses. From the atmosphere to the food and overall quality, everything felt authentic. We started with the onion rings ($8) with some beer and Diet Coke, followed by 10 garlic soy spicy wings ($12+) and the spicy pork rice topped with a fried egg ($16). The onion rings were perfectly fried, soooooo crispy, perfectly seasoned, and a great way to start the meal. The wings were outstanding and EXACTLY HOW TO GET THEM IN SEOUL: crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and coated in a flavorful garlic soy sauce with just the right amount of heat. The spicy pork rice was rich, savory, and packed with umami and the salad which came with it was extremely refreshing. It didn't taste overly spicy while I was eating it, but I noticed the heat afterward, lol. Overall, it was a great and satisfying meal. The service was excellent, and our server was incredibly kind. She patiently offered thoughtful recommendations, gave us plenty of time to decide, and kept the restaurant clean / managed it while we decided the order. If you are craving authentic Korean fried chicken and spicy bold, umami-packed flavors, this place is absolutely worth a visit.

You place your order on a tablet, however there is someone out there to assist and answer any questions. They do pride themselves on making everything fresh and advised that recognize it will take a few minutes to cook everything, which is fine. We got a chicken sandwich, chicken strips and some wings. The chicken sandwich was very good. However, I am used to a chicken sandwich with one big piece of chicken. That was 2 chicken tenders. The chicken was moist and flavorful. They do have a sandwich which includes slaw, however I think that would be too much and would fall apart before you could finish eating it. Got an order of the chicken strips. Again, flavorful and good seasoning. They also have a multitude of sauces that you can get. Lastly, had to try some wings. Again, there are a variety of sauces you can get. I went with the naked wings with the sauce on the side for dipping. Wings were very meaty and nice and crisp. We enjoyed everything. Good place for chicken in many forms - sandwich, strips or wings. Pretty straightforward ordering and collecting your number. The location - This place had very little personality and just didn't have a lot to it. Granted, if you are just having a quick sit and wolfing down some chicken, this is adequate. I will say it was very clean and had obviously been cared for. The food - This was good, juicy fried chicken. No complaints on the flavour. Their specialty dipping sauce is also really good. The downsides... They don't have a thing. Nothing that would make me go get chicken here over any of the other chicken places in town. The kiosk ordering, while great, had items that were out of stock listed that were next to the system in the cooler, and vice versa. I was hoping for more from a place that isn't advertised much and is sort of tucked back in a strip mall. And though good. They need something more. Great prices or great dips, or something to set them apart.

I'd been seeing the Nashville Hot Chicken Shack (NHCS) as an option of Door Dash for a few weeks and decided to give it t a try, but rather than order for delivery, I wanted to find out if there was a dine in option. When I searched the address I was directed to Fox & Hound, a pub/grill I'd seen many times. Thinking perhaps they'd had COVID related business issues, I decided to call, but having dialed the number twice, I got recordings that the number was out of order. At this point I was jonesing pretty bad for hot chicken and decided to take the chance and drive a few miles to check it out. I grabbed some buddies from work and took off. On arrival we learned that there is no storefront for The Nashville Hot Chicken Shack, but rather that it was a "Virtual Kitchen" functioning out of Fox & Hound's facility. ("American Grilled Cheese Company" is another VK in the same facility. It was a strategy to increase business and keep the restaurant afloat during the pandemic.) I was disappointed to learn that my friends and I couldn't place an order for the menu items from NHCS. The only menus available were for Fox & Hound. The server was super nice about it, but simply couldn't accommodate our request. That's when I pulled out my phone and placed a pickup order through Door Dash for Hot Chicken and sides, and my friends and I sat in the restaurant, sipped on soft drinks, and waited for our takeout. We got back to the office and unpacked the bag. Our orders were correct and contained everything we expected. The chicken was not sauced as I expected it to be. We all ordered Medium heat... I would have bumped it up to hot if I'd had a point of reference, but it was appropriately spiced for medium. The chicken itself was nothing special. It wasn't bad... it was just "meh." For my two sides I chose mac & cheese and collard greens. The mac was very loose... soupy in fact. I was not a fan. The greens, however were OUTSTANDING. (I say that as a Southerner who loves greens. These were GREAT.) On it's own, the meal would have held its three star rating, but it was the price point that took it down for me. I REALLY wanted this meal to be wonderful, but the simple fact is that it was mediocre at best, and certainly not worth the price. I'd drive up in to the metro for hot chicken at a competitor before I'd order from Nashville Hot Chicken Shack again. I don't like writing negative reviews, and I want to be clear, this rating has NOTHING to do with the service I received. (In fact, I gave the waitress who brought our soft drinks a $10 tip.) I just can't recommend this food at this price point.

Bad food, chicken dry and weird. Missed half of our order. Didnt bother finishing it.read more

I might have been given some significant discounts on food during her employment if you know what I mean?! Since the statute of limitations has expired and said female now lives in Florida, I think it's time to come clean some 45 years later, and yes we are still friends. In fact she was the first person that I sent photos of my weekend meal. I was actually surprised to see that Taco Via still existed and made a dash out to Overland Park on a soggy Sunday to see if the food lived up to what my memories hold. I ordered a Nacho w/ jalapeños, a Sancho, and "The Thing". The Nacho is one of the metro's simple pleasures - a corn tortilla covered in melted cheese with a spiral design of the best taco sauce in America and a splattering of diced jalapeños. Simple and simply irresistible. The Sancho is a messy beast with it's soft flour tortilla packed to the brim with everything that you would find in a burrito - taco meat, lettuce, cheese, tomato, and sauce. "The Thing" is a beautiful thing! It is basically a tostado topped with ground beef, onion sauce and a mountain of melty cheese. All three of these menu items would be 5 stars even if you were forced to eat them with Taco Bell sauce, but Taco Via has their own sauce that you can dispense from a pump at the drink station. I found myself sipping the sauce between bites and realized then that I must buy a container to take home with me. I plan on using liberal amounts of it on a taco salad at home tomorrow evening. I hope you forgive me and especially my female friend that forced those "discounted" tacos and sodas upon me Two Score and Five Years ago. With to-go sauce, meal, tax and tip, I spent $25+, I'm giving a well deserved 5 star review and I promise to come back and spend even more money... I hope this starts the reconciliation process, and the forgiveness of juvenile misdemeanors.
