Apparently one of the managers decided to take it in their own hands and put in the order for us even though we'd already made an order. Our kiosk adventure was pointless, in an eerie reflection of our entire trip to this Popeyes. We gave them the money. We waited for a little longer, made jokes, anything to alleviate the genuine frustration. And then we get told that they don't have the sauces that we want. The chicken was cold too. What's the moral of the story? Is it to give up on the things you love? Is it to stop fighting whenever someone else does as well? At what point do we become Icarus, flying towards the Sun? Hoping and praying and begging for a great experience as we once had, just to have our wings not melt but instead freeze in those frigid temperatures, to be let down again and again and again? I don't know. I don't know the answer to if I should be angry, if this is all just a big joke. All I know is that I'm tired. All I know is that they were too. Maybe we're all tired.
