To go "Flight of Saucy Bites" with fries, mozzarella slab and chocolate shake
Mark D.

I stopped in on the 3rd day of operations for the new Dave's in Cutler Bay to join the other chain chicken joints that have been sprouting up in the area. Parking was tight and there was a line probably due to the newness of the restaurant. It is sandwiched narrowly between Starbucks and Chipotle. I opted to get to go as the dining area is narrow and claustrophobic. I believe there are outside tables, but you would have to put up with the heat, exhaust fumes, and noise of traffic on US 1. To get a sample of some of the flavors, I got the 18 piece "Flight of Saucy Bites". The flavors are spicy buffalo, spicy barbecue, and Mike's hot honey. All were good, with Mike's being my favorite. The chicken pieces are larger than nuggets and smaller than tenders. I was filled up on nine of them. I got a side order of a mozzarella slab, which was just meh. Fries were ok and nicely seasoned. I was pleasantly surprised with the chocolatey-ness of the chocolate shake. I was expecting the food to come out faster; we waited about 15 minutes, but that might be because they are still in their opening phase. All in all, it was just OK. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat there, but it was worth trying their method of cooking/seasoning chicken.

High quality, no seed oils, and tastes phenomenal -- doesn't get better than this. Shahs of Kabob…read moreis honestly one of my top go-to spots when it comes to authentic Persian cuisine. The quality of the food is truly unmatched. The koobideh platter or chicken joojeh platter are typically my first pick; with a side of their salad, rice and sumac sauce, simply made to perfection. You can tell the owners have poured their heart into the business, because the food and the service speak for themselves. Another plus? The pricing. It's so reasonable, I wish more restaurants used great ingredients without charging you an arm and a leg. Absolutely love this spot. If you're thinking of trying it out... consider this your sign.

OK experience eating a ground meat kabob close to our motel…read more Shahs' of Kabob started in 2017, and has expanded to ten locations. It serves halal Persian cuisine in a fast casual environment. This location in South Miami is quite small, with only seating for 10 or so people. One thing we noticed right away was the delicious smell coming from the indoor grill...pretty much told you that the roasted meats were going to be good. I wasn't too hungry so ordered the small plate of Koobideh ($15). The cashier was nonchalant when asked about what to recommend. Once ready, it was brought over to our table. It came with a large mound of saffron rice, which was quite good. A better choice would have been half and half of a small salad with the rice. The koobideh was very similar (even exactly the same to my untrained palate) to a Turkish adana kebab or an Arabic kefta...made with a combination of beef and lamb ground meat, made flatter vs round. It was warmed/cooked over a grill and had that nice char taste that one gets from grilling. I didn't notice there were condiments in ketchup/mustard squeeze bottles until too late...it gives the place a kind of hot dog joint feel which I don't think was the intention.
