My boyfriend and I went here for a late dinner over the weekend. The place was moderately busy but when we entered the restaurant not one person greeted us. There's a sign that says "please wait to be seated" which in typical restaurant a waitress or hostess with say "I'll be right with you!" if they're busy, but we stood there for 5-10 minutes without anyone saying anything to us. Finally someone came and showed us to a table. I think this just started the whole experience off as bad. I looked over the menu for a quite a while and nothing spectacular jumped out, so I eventually settled on a burger since it seemed like the most flavorful thing on the menu. It was cooked fine but the burger had no flavor; I would have been happier buying frozen burgers from the grocery store. There was supposed to be Cajun seasoning on the burger, but I only tasted it once. I was overall disappointed but my boyfriend liked the place. He got breakfast but said it was the first time that the bacon was bad at a breakfast place. The waitress ended up being very nice and attentive, I often drink a lot of water and she always made sure I didn't have an empty cup. I wouldn't go as far as to say I'll never go back, but I probably won't be seeking it out anytime soon. read more

I've given Dave's good reviews before for the great food and outstanding service, but the meal I had tonight was outstanding. Dave's offers a number of specials and on tonight's list was an item called Seafood Casablanca. Here's the way it was listed: Seafood Casablanca $19.99 Pan seared lobster, shrimp & sea scallops w/ diced roasted tomatoes, mushroom & spinach In a lite garlic & lemon butter sauce. Served over 6-mushroom ravioli and topped With shredded Parmesan cheese with a side garlic bread. You go to Dave's for good basic food, but every once in a while they slip something like this into the mix. It was FANTASTIC! As good as you'd get at many higher end establishments and it was a Dave's size portion. What more is there to say? read more

I was only able to eat all the proteins and saved my pancakes for later. The pancakes were really good though. I got chocolate chips in them and mmm, tasty. I have been a vegetarian for six years. When I ask for a veggie burger and it's screwed up with a meat patty instead, it's a big deal. I was very excited to eat at Dave's for the first time because I had never been to a diner before. What a disappointment. Instead I got food posioning because my body hasn't digested meat in so long. I used to love this place. I don't live in the area but my girlfriend does so I would look at it as a treat whenever I stayed down there. A few years ago their breakfast menu was bigger and had variety and better food. Now...it doesn't! The homefries are just greasy and grilled nastiness, the eggs are always slightly over cooked, the toast is well toast and the coffee is average. Blueberry pancakes are a different story, large, fluffy, cakey, delicious. Except when I go out I don't want to have to eat pancakes in order to enjoy my meal. The ambiance is great with an old time feel, the service is impeccable, my only complaint is the shortening of the breakfast menu and the average quality of food. Will I still go? Yes! Will I always be happy about going (not always my choice) No! I just want the biscuits and gravy to come back. Just have to update this review after we received the absolute best customer service at Dave's last week. We called to place a take out order, which is something we do regularly since we work close by. When my colleague went to pick up the order she paid and left, but on her way back she looked in the bag and noticed that four out of the five items we had ordered with a special request had not been completed correctly. Needless to say this was not the first time our take out order has been messed up but we normally don't say anything; however this time, she called back to let them know she wasn't thrilled that they had missed up again. Not only did they apologize profusely and offer to correct the order, they gave her a tip on how to order with our special request the next time so this hopefully never happens again AND comped our entire meal (even the fifth item that had been made correctly). I love Dave's and we will continue to be loyal visitors. I just cannot say enough about their commitment to excellence! read more

ONION RINGS/COLESLAW both rate near TOPS. My son LOVES their burger--and he's quite picky about his restaurant burger. The "HEMI" is awesome for about a $6 sammy. The detailed items at a restaurant--like items with marinating ingredients and multiple preps are especially good. Check the daily specials. Cool 50's decor, FRIENDLY and reasonable prices. There is NOTHING I like more than a good breakfast joint and this is a great breakfast joint (and lunch and dinner from what I suspect). Super cute and kitchy decor along with a friendly server only added to the great breakfast. This is definitely not a place to come if you are "watching what you eat" so I didn't and had banana, walnut pancakes. They were light, fluffy and scrumptious and had lots of banana and nuts. Everyone enjoyed their food and needed a nap afterward. The only drawback is the cost - its pretttty pricey for breakfast though the portions are large and the food great. read more

What a fun and friendly place! My daughter and I had breakfast here on a weekday around 830 am . It was busy , not quite full,with a mix of families, couples and single diners. Service was top notch. My daughter had an omelette, I had a waffle. Both were tasty with ample portions for the price. The real star here is the diner itself, sparkling in the morning sun with its gleaming metal, glossy red Naugahyde booths, and classic checkerboard floor. I love the outdoor seating on a nice evening. The group had the steak-tips, burger and fried chicken. My conclusion is that if you have a hankering for fried chicken you should have no other destination in mind if you are within 30 minutes of this place. WOW. Haven't had some of the other comfort foods but would try and avoid the tips and burgers - 'cuz they were below average. Had breakfast here once. Anyone can do eggs easy-over so I thought I'd try the hash. It's homemade and really, really good. The home-fries were also quite good. Three stars for dinner and four for breakfast. We have been to Daves for breakfast twice, and to be honest, when I love a place as much as I did Dave's I am almost afraid to go back because if it isn't as good it almost seems like more of a let down. I didn't need to worry, second time at Dave's was just as good, if not better, than the first. The sausages are so good, and the homemade hash is amazing! I'm not one for the diner scene. The fifties decor, the checkered tile, the aroma of stale coffee... Usually makes me think of dirty old places. Putting my assumptions aside, The Girlfriend and I tried Dave's for breakfast one morning. Amazing. The breakfast sandwich I ordered was put together perfectly. The egg wasn't too runny, it wasn't too greasy. Best of all- it comes with those nicely seasoned old-fashioned home fries that you grew up with. When I walked through the door they had a freshly baked tray of big blueberry muffins sitting behind the counter. I couldn't leave without ordering one of them too. The muffins are big, served grilled, toasted or however you want them and are truly moist and delicious. The place does have that fifties diner feel, and it is the LAST one of its kind around here. But it never once seemed dirty or old to me. Everything was clean and shiny. The number of breakfast options it offers is insane. It includes things from linguica to malted waffles to breakfast wraps that look gigantic and amazing. Everything is customizable, they feature build your own wraps, omelets, and one-skillet dishes. Deciding that we loved breakfast there we vowed to go back for dinner. This time we tried their burgers. While the dinner options are less abundant they are just as good. My Wagon Train burger came with nicely golden onion rings, and a bourbon barbecue sauce that was unlike any I have ever had. Her "Burger of the Day" was something with provolone, mushrooms and Worcestershire sauce that she said was "one of the best burgers she's ever had." All in all: this is THE place for breakfast if you're around here, and if you're looking for a good burger (or fried clams in December that I had the pleasure of noticing) you might as well stop here too. Awesome diner food. Got the Hungry Harry with added bananas to my 2 pancakes. As much as I tried I couldn't finish it. It was very good :) My mom got the Blue Suede Shoes burger with sweet potato tater tots. She loved it and is still talking about it. The tater tots were delicious as well. My sister got a omelet w/ a bagel. We both ended up getting a lime ricky. It was good but we've had better. Wanted to try the Peach Princess. Its got Champagne, Peach Schnapps, Grenadine, and some sort of soda in it... idk. It was...ehhh Overall we had practically had to be rolled out the door we were so full. read more

I really wish I could give this place a 10 out of 5. First off the decor and feel is like a true 50's diner. Then on top of that there is only one tiny little tv so it forces you to actually talk to people. All the locals and waitresses are going at it with each other laughing and carrying on. Such a pleasant experience to see and witness in the world of today that is full with people just on their phones. Now to the food. This was easily the best part. I had a special called Pete's platter which is homemade corned beef hash and homefries with an English muffin. First off the hash absolutely stole the show. The flavor was out of this world and the ration heavily favored the corned beef. If you are within 20 miles you should go out of your way to come here. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND read more

This place is a gem right near the Middleboro rotary. Its the full dinner experiance, cool old style furnishings nice long counter to sit at and comfortable deep booths to sink into. As soon as you walk in its has that dinner smell of all day breakfast mixed with home made gravey. They have a solid menu of all the favorites like burgers, pot roast, and sandwiches. The wife had a burger stacked high with fried onion rings and bouron bbq sauce. This sauce was official. Had to be house made it was sweet and had an awesome tang of real bourbon shining thru. I wanted a light lunch so i went with the farmhouse combo wich was basically a fried chicken Lunch with a side of pulled pork on garlic bread. Came with a side of real mash potatoes and a fresh made bicuit and gravey. Fried Chicken this good can start a restuarant on its own. I assaulted this plate. Murdered it. Waitress said the pork was smoked out back and it showed. The good thing about being in a dinner is you dont get judged by the neighboring patrons for how fast you can shovel your plate down. The waitress was super nice and more importantly super quick with the ginger ale refills. With tip lunch was 40 bucks. Not the cheapest but your getting quality, you dont like it shit up and go to burger king and have a fucked up shit later. read more

Dave's is one of the cutest diners I've ever been to. It's your typical, retro diner that has pretty good food. They have a pretty large menu with options for everyone. It's a great place for when you can't decide on what kind of food you're in the mood for. Most of it is comfort food, and who doesn't love that? It's usually packed whenever I go (I've never had to wait, though), and if you're not in a booth you're sitting practically on top of anyone seated next to you. All in all, I'd definitely recommend Dave's. It's definitely a gem in Middleboro. read more

I love this place! Everything I have had been good. I suggested this place for recovery breakfast after NYE. We got there at 11 and there surprisingly wasn't a wait though it started to get crowded at 11:30/12ish. I went all out and got the huge breakfast, chocolate chip pancakes, eggs, home fries.. the works. It was delicious!! Everyone was really happy with theirs. I like how they use real maple syrup for pancakes. The Bloody Mary's are also excellent. It come with celery, a toothpick full of olive, pickle, pepperoni and a cube of pepper jack cheese.
