Great atmosphere! There are trains everywhere. The food was amazing and the portion size was larger than what I'm used to getting at a breakfast restaurant. My wife and I ordered the big breakfast plate to share and we couldn't finish it. If you're a fan of cornbread, the one that they serve is MASSIVE. We came here for breakfast on a rainy Saturday. The restaurant and staff are warm and welcoming and decorated in a train theme. The menu offered a great selection including specialties all at a fair price. I ordered a two egg breakfast with poached eggs, French toast and bacon. WOW! Our orders came out promptly and I truly enjoyed my breakfast. It was a simple breakfast but everything was cooked so well and all the ingredients were top quality. What a sweet little surprise, tucked away in downtown Middleborough. On the way home from the Cape we swung by for a late breakfast. Scrambled egg tacos, hash brown potatoes and buffalo chicken salad were enjoyed by the two of us. Excellent service and vibes. There are cocktails too. read more

Nellie Rose Restaurant is located in a small mall at the corner of County St and Chase Rd in Freetown, MA. It is off of Route 140, exit 8. Fifteen minutes from New Bedford. It is fairly new having opened a year ago. The menu is exemplary as the offerings are plentiful, and they are fresh. The establishment is clean,new and comfortable and the wait staff are very cheerful and efficient. I was pleasantly surprised when I finally got to the Nellie Rose, Middleboro location. The decor is as quaint as in Whitman. The interior was larger than I expected, and we found parking across the street. I love the ambiance and the baby loved the train! We did not have to wait very, long for a table for five on a Saturday. The mushroom and Swiss omelet was cooked to perfection and the Tater Tots were nice and crunchy. Great breakfast this morning at Nellie Rose Restaurant. Nothing fancy but outstanding service by Stephanie.... Super friendly . Food was very good too. I had very tasty cheese omelette with tots and a grilled bagel. My wife really enjoyed her egg white omelette and my mother in law liked her scrambled eggs. Coffee was ok but all 3 waitresses were all walking around topping the coffee. Be aware there is only a few parking spots outside the restaurant and most of the parking if on the street. Overall, I would definitely comeback and hope Stephanie is our waitress. read more

i always make it a point to dine at this restaurant while visiting my sister who lives in Middleboro, MA. Had lunch here to today and my husband was surprised to learn that they don't serve alcohol to out-of-state license holders. I completely understand if they've had problems in the past with u stage drinkers or fake I.D.s, bye my husband is clearly neither. We both have real I.D.s from GA and should be able to buy alcohol anywhere in the United States where it's served. This is not a good business move and will not attract the tourists. Our waitress was wonderful and the food was great, but the bogus alcohol policy left a sour taste in our mouths. read more

The food was excellent, especially the Eggs Benedict. My wife, Debbie, said it's the best she's ever had! And she should know because it's usually what she orders when we eat out. This place is a great breakfast/lunch spot and a great addition to the town. I've been there a lot and walked away happy every time that I have eaten at the spot. Closes at around 2/2:30 so don't try to swing by for a late lunch. I would recommend the chicken salad on their sour dough bread. The sandwiches are quite delicious. read more

Also my friend gets the corn beef hash. It's made to order not that low grade dog food you get from a can that most places around here serve. I'm coming back with friends next time. Why only three stars you may ask? It's true that my Portuguese Eggs Benedict were very good. The waitress was friendly and nice. Unfortunately, the coffee was just okay, the two waitresses felt comfortable having a conversation throughout the restaurant throughout our breakfast. I originally ordered the hash browns which came and were inedible. The outside had a light brown to them and the insides tasted raw. When I told the waitress she kindly offered to switch to the home fries, a very nice gesture. When I declined she refused to allow me to decline, took my plate and returned with a new plate with home fries and what was left of my eggs. My wife already had plenty of home fries for both of us, so I really didn't want more. Also, anyone who enjoys eggs Benedict in its many varieties probably knows the enjoyment of the mix of the runny yolk and the hollandaise sauce oozing on the plate. New plate, gone are the sauces that were on the old plate. Nellie's has a lot of potential that just wasn't met this time. read more
