Turkey club with fries
Rob D.

Great little diner right in the middle of town. I've driven past Dave's Diner 100's of time and decided today was tge day, I'm glad I did. The service was quick and friendly and the food was good and a goid value for the money. I had a turkey club with fries. The sandwich was loaded with thick cut turkey, bacon, and fresh lettuce and tomatoes. The fries were hot and fresh and made a great side.

Steak & Eggs

We stopped here on the recommendation of a local hotel staffer after checking out & on the way to check out some waterfalls. Place was hoppin' but there were a few tables open, so we were seated immediately. Looked like a lively group of regulars, so we knew we'd come to the right place ;) Our server was friendly & checked in on us often. Food came quickly - I had Steak & Eggs which was quite good - steak was not all dried-out like one would often get with this dish ...potatoes were awesome, too! Plenty of parking which was great. A great little diner - would definitely recommend!

I found this is a popular place in Manlius by chance driving around looking for some breakfast on a Sunday. Apparently the whole area knows they do a good job here of good food and service despite the crowds waiting in and outside to be seated. Your name and the number in your party goes on a list and they let you know when your table is ready whether your inside or outside waiting. Once in the waitstaff are quick to take your order. Coffee was brought right away and I looked through the menu of breakfast and lunch items. They also had specials posted on the wall. Something I would never attempt at home was on the menu, A favorite of mine, Egg Bennies served plain or with meat. I ordered them with bacon and they did a great job of crisp bacon and Hollandaise sauce. So if you're hungry for a good breakfast there are many choices on their menu and if I wasn't so hungry for protein I would've ordered the yum looking waffle covered with strawberries and whipped. Ahh, looking forward to next time!

Omelet, home fries and raisin toast

Breakfast last Saturday with my sister. Upon entering was promptly assisted to a table by the waitress. The menu was pretty big for breakfast and lunch options. I settled on a waffle with eggs and bacon and my sister had an omelet with home fries. I was concerned when the waffle was brought to me because it was pretty dark but it was not over cooked but it didn't have the fluffy consistency of a great waffle. The eggs and bacon were perfect. My sister enjoyed her omelet and said the home fries were not greasy and cooked perfectly. The cost is very reasonable and the service was great!

breakfast sandwich

We walked in and they just told us to sit wherever. No formality. She never came back with refills for drinks and she just didn't seem to care. We got our food and my breakfast sandwich was in pieces (see the picture for after I put it together). The cheese was full on liquid and I couldn't eat it. The bacon was just two full strips that I had to fold in. Then she gave us the bill before we ate and just stood around even though we were done for a while. Then we asked for boxes and she threw them on top of our food and left without a word. I don't recommend this Daves diner at all.

Breakfast sandwich gluten free, home fries, and a steak quesadilla! Tastes fabulous!

Great diner! It is small place but really quick service. The staff hustle and get people seated as fast as possible. Food is excellent and hot. A++++

The Ruben in Gluten Free bread (bit smaller than normal bread)

Can always count on Dave's for delicious sandwhiches on gluten free bread. I get the ruben or turkey club with fries everytime. Their coleslaw is pretty good too..and I'm picky about coleslaw! Their french toast is really impressive as well. The rest is standard diner breakfast food. Service is always acceptable at the least. Only complaint...horrible coffee. Other than that, I definitely recommend if you're in the area!

Clam roll and turkey club at Dave's Diner
Christina M.

This is a nice diner with a small-town feel, good food, and great service. The turkey club was prepared well and they use "real" turkey, which makes a huge difference and makes it more flavorful. The clam roll was also a good choice- it had a mix of big clams and little clams. The portions were very hearty, too! The peanut butter cookies with the check is an awesome touch and much appreciated! In my opinion, this place is a solid choice for a friendly, neighborhood diner- we won't hesitate coming back in the future.

Food is standard fare, nothing special. Staff is friendly but the cook time is way too long for a diner. Waffle house has this place beat.

We like Dave's. It's good basic diner food (we always get breakfast items), fairly fast, always clean.

When my husband read a ridiculous one star review, we knew we had to stop in. We both agree, we have now found our favorite breakfast place! First, the food....I ordered the #2 breakfast (2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon. The pancakes would be more than a meal by themselves. Thank goodness my husband wanted one of them. They were huge and fluffy and delicious! I ordered my eggs scrambled and they too were light, fluffy and cooked for the perfect amount of time. The bacon was delicious and the sausage was nicely browned and tasty. My husband ordered hash, eggs and toast. I tried a bite of his hash and WOW! We both think it had to be made in house. Second, the atmosphere....this is a classic, old school diner. We sat at the counter and enjoyed watching the masterful cooking on the flat top. Lastly, the staff was super friendly and attentive. Even though this was our first visit, the friendliness of our server made us feel like regulars. We can't wait to go back and next time I'm definitely going to try the brioche French toast I spied cooking on our way out!

Unfortunately, I found that despite some good reviews, this place is subpar. I paid $35 for two breakfasts. I was served a dish with two eggs, two thin slices of toast, I don't know how they slice the toast that thin, a huge plate of greasy home fries, and bacon that was so greasy it was inedible. The floors were filthy and I can't imagine they have been washed in months. This is a small space and tables are crammed everywhere making it difficult for the waitress to move around. My husband said the men's room was simply disgusting. The flies on the window next to us eagerly looked at our plates, waiting to pounce at the first opportunity. Not a positive experience.

There was a lovely breeze and amazing view of green lakes and beyond. My small children wanted to walk around while we waited for our food and we checked out the golf carts nearby. The service was pretty fast. At one point I ordered a side of fries and it came out so quickly! The food was also pretty good. I am deducting a star because of the vegetarian sandwich. I was a bit disappointed in the bread which did not seem to be sourdough or toasted and roasted red peppers that were small shreds. The taste was overall ok but larger pieces of red peppers and more lettuce would have helped a lot. My spouse is gluten free and we were pleased they had gf buns on their menu for an additional cost. He and our kids really enjoyed their dinners. Their kids meals were reasonably priced and our 5 year old completely devoured a cheeseburger (normally she eats mostly fries) but the fries were good too!!

She instantly changed them but she already touched my food.So from there I didn't feel comfortable to eat from the restaurant. I still paid for my food and I still tipped the waiter because it wasn't her fault. I'm very disappointed that I saw what the cook did.Hopefully that cook could learn proper cooking etiquette. I wouldn't revisit!

They had a variety of tables & a counter space. We've sat in both areas & had good service both times. I really liked the omelette I had the first time we went but I really loved the last plate that we got which was a fantastic mix of everything you could think of to eat for breakfast. I'm looking forward to our next visit because I'd like to try something on the sweeter side.

I will say that the entrees don't come with a soup or salad so that's something to be aware of. I'm not sure if this happens regularly but there was also a dude named Pinky playing keyboard and sax in the corner. Never thought I would hear smooth jazz versions of "Sweet Caroline" or "Danny Boy" or even "If I were a Rich Man" from Fiddler on the Roof. Certainly an international setlist. Overall a fine experience.
