Never going back here, and would warn anyone looking to stay away -- We went here based on a recommend to have our AC looked at, low gas mileage issues (we thought it was maybe a fuel injection issue) and a hard shifting problem in our 2006 Expedition. Dave's told us the mileage was most likely related to our spark plugs, which they said were corroded badly and needed replacing. Then they said that the AC not working issue was from some "overcharged freon" and that they could easily fix that. They charged us $800 for the spark plugs and AC issue and said the gas mileage would be all set. We got the car back and the AC worked for THREE DAYS before it stopped working. Initially we were getting 12-13 miles per gallon- but after Dave's touched it, we were getting 10-11, and the car started making a horrible, loud banging sound on the back right side. So, of course we called them and they had us bring it back in. They said the loud banging was due to some plastic part in the back that was old and corroded and it was also why the AC they said they'd fixed had stopped working. The mechanic noted that all the AC work they'd done had been on the FRONT end and they hadn't bothered to check anything else because it seemed to them to be working. So, when I brought it back in, I asked them to please call us BEFORE doing ANY work, as we had just paid them $800 for the 'spark plugs' (which ended up doing nothing to improve anything and could have totally waited) - Today, we get a call that the Expedition is ready- AND that we owe them another $200. We were very upset and told them that we had CLEARLY asked to be called BEFORE ANY WORK WAS DONE. They "apologized" and then said once we cough up the $200, we can have the Expedition back. We were absolutely furious and had to dip into our nest egg to pay for it, since the initial $800 had wiped out our checking account. This is a horrible and very shady way to do business. What kind of mechanic goes ahead and takes the liberty of doing work and charging you for you, AFTER the repair was due to their own negligence and oversight, without asking your permission first? A dishonest one. STAY AWAY. At the very least, find a mechanic that will check with you before racking up charges on YOUR dime, following their failure to be thorough the first time. Oh, and we're still hemorrhaging gas money because we now get LESS miles per gallon than when we brought it in. read more
