I hosted my child's birthday party here since she loves visiting here. Kevin made the planning process easy. He was great to work with. On the day of the party, we arrived about 20 minutes early to put tableclothes on the table and were introduced to our waitress, Tyler. It's was in those moments that I knew that Tyler was going to do the bare minimum and knew that Dave & Buster's may not have been the best option to host a child's birthday party. I've been hosting my child's birthday parties at various places and every associate assigned to me always helped me. Tyler didn't even offer to help put the tableclothes on the tables and it was only two. So yeah I instantly knew that I got a bare minimum waitress! I paid the required gratuity but didn't add anything extra. Tyler rolled the diced and missed out. She provided minimal service and got the minimal tip. The three stars are for the managers, Mario and Chris, who were very professional and kind. About the food: the kids had Mac and cheese and chicken. They loved it! I ordered a wing platter for the parents and a round of shots! lol I honestly wished I had a better server! Tyler was truly the worst part of the transaction. Family thanksgiving visit and it was fun! Food was yummy! Appetizers were hot and fast, drinks made well and entrees were delicious! Service was amazing! Our server was helpful, cheerful and funny! All the screens showing games was a plus in the dining area. Downsides- bathrooms were dirty, broken, leaking, stinky etc etc Game room had dirty carpet, games that didn't work and no one on floor for help. The quality of the game room compared to the dining area is not equal. Games that didn't work were fun but even at half price game day it was pricey. Came with kids on a Saturday evening and this place was packed full of kids. We didn't eat or drink anything during this visit just came to play. Sadly, a lot of the midway type games that my kids love to play were not working. Like a whole of section and many other games weren't. No idea who to speak too since we couldn't find anyone. We visited Dave & Buster's a few days ago with the family, and what a fun lunch outing it turned out to be! Since it was a weekday, the place wasn't crowded, which made it even more enjoyable. I tried a cocktail (not usually my go-to here since they're hit or miss) -- it was okay, nothing special. But the food definitely surprised me! We ordered boneless wings with buffalo sauce, which were solid, and then queso with nachos (without pork). What really stood out is that the quality of the food has improved tremendously compared to a few years ago. Big shoutout to the team -- please keep up the great work! We had a wonderful overall experience. Although we were short on time and had to leave early, we still squeezed in some arcade games, which made the visit complete. Balcones Heights was easily one of the worst D&Bs I have ever been to. D&B is normally the spot I go to when I need to think and/or conduct bidness. Obviously South Philly way of doing bidness, even if you are in San Antonio. There is a large parking lot outside. So you don't need to valet. That is about the only positive thing this location has going for it. Several machines did not work. Some I swiped my powercard on and it deducted the points, but then crashed. Cyberpunk and Marvel were the two worst offenders, when those were two of the only games worth playing at this location. They did not have a Time Crisis - what is this world coming to where a D&B doesn't have the best arcade game ever made???? The back of D&B smelled like an open sewer near the gentlesir's restroom so every game along the back wall required a large berth from the bathroom to be considered playable. The singular highlight of my trip here was the skeeball near the front. Unlike Cyberpunk and Marvel nearby it did not eat my points then malfunction before I got to play, check. Some random kid ran over and swiped his card on the lane next door to go 1v1 so I handily beat his score and he stomped off mad, since he apparently thought I was an easy mark in the skeeball. So that made my day, even though we hadn't bet any money on the game so it was not a true South Philly experience. In short, the one on the Riverwalk is way better than this option if you care about quality of the game and avoiding the stench of an open sewer along roughly the back half of the location. read more

I hadn't been there in over 3 years and this reminded me why... from the start only the door greater was friendly! The wait staff lacked energy, our adult beverages took 20 minutes to be served... and we sat at a table right next to the bar! Even worse, our appetizers never came out and when we questioned the waitress twice, she answered with a very frustrated tone that the kitchen was backed-up which she had no control over. 1 hour & 40 minutes later our entrees came out, that's when I asked for the manager, which was a waste of time because she gave us the same reasoning and an "I'm sorry"... then offered to comp our appetizers, but it was way too late for that! When we got the bill, we realized their mediocre drinks are wayyy over priced... $20.49 for a margarita in a short glass filled with ice! Unfortunately, I had to use the restroom which was filthy... water on the floor, trashcans overflowing, and toilet paper on the floor! Obviously, hadn't been attended to in all day. This is my husband's and my favorite date spot! We really enjoy D&B as a whole and this is our favorite one in the San Antonio area! It is not the biggest D&B but it gets the job done! We enjoy walking in and heading straight to the arcade since we already have our game card! We will get our drinks and food at the bar in the arcade and live it up as adult kiddos! I go to Dave and busters a least once a week. The staff at the game room bar is always awesome. They do a tremendous job and they are always very friendly and accommodating. The decor and ambiance is what you'd expect - a child hood Vegas casino. We get food from time to time. I def recommend the sampler thing we get. Currently here on June 18, 530 sharp at the bar, there's three bartenders behind this bar and my mother and I have been waiting about 30 minutes for somebody to acknowledge us so we can order a drink and maybe tip the bartenders but I guess that's beyond there Objective here so we're going to continue to wait and see how long it takes for them to acknowledge us. On a sidenote, stina at the main bar in the front was great very attentive had a great attitude and brought everything out in a good manner . No complaints on her she was awesome !! read more

The restaurant/arcade is family-friendly. Plenty of parking out front. We had to buy our time cards twice due to unclear advertisements on the vending machine. We talked to a manager and they were aware of the problem but offered no refund. With the complaints received, why haven't they fixed it? Other than that, it was a fun experience. There are many different games for different ages. They offer many food choices on the menu. The entire family enjoyed their meal and drinks. The hostess was polite and quick with service. The kids got to take home some prizes and left happy. It is a good place to beat the heat, grab some grub, watch a game, and play the arcade. Worst experience in San Antonio I give this place one star for the fun and experience I had before my family outting was very rudely interrupted by the male manager with the dreads I was unable to catch his name due to his inability to wear a name tag when singling out my sister for the jean shorts she was wearing! He told her she had to leave the property and or cover up with clothing we did not have due to the uncomfortability of another guest... we had been there for three hours and our grandparents had paid good money for our food and entertainment cards and drove 12 hours from Missouri. I fully believe if there had been an issue regarding dress code it should have been addressed when we were welcomed by the host. When u went to address the issue with the management at the front host stand the host and the female management said there was no problem with my sisters attire and told us we were welcome to stay however that man made the whole family extremely uncomfortable due to the blatant disregard to how we were treated and how my sister was sexualized in that moment for the jean shorts. George was really great. We went at an early time and we were able to get great service. I enjoyed the atmosphere the only thing was that it could be a little bit cleaner. All Daven busters seem to have this issue though so I wouldn't go if you're not into that type of atmosphere. I took my family to enjoy a night - from what I remember D&Bs was supposed to be a family fun and oriented night. While at the host stand two young girls carried conversation while checking in and one dropped an F bomb. I said wow, since my kids were in hearing distance. She offered no apology, just laughed it off. It was hard to see who was in charge or wanting to work. The workers just sat around talking. My host wasnt helpful. She sounded agitated like she didnt want to work, then another girl appeared to help with no explanation. She offered to get the mgr when i complained about the lack of quality of the food- i asked her an honest question, would u eat this and want to pay for this? She said "honestly no.." then i asked ok be honest do they usually look like this cause u dont seem surprised, and she agreed. "Yes they always look like this." It looked like they grabbed leftovers from another table to give me and the veggies were dried up. Huge lack of service, it was a Thursday. Not alot of customers. They were sufficiently staffed. It was clear why the culture is this way when they brought out the mgr to address my concern. He offered no options. He looked and carried himself like an exbouncer or security gaurd, rather than a manager. He hovered over me and gave off an intimidating vibe, making it clear he wouldnt do anything for me other than remake the nachos. At that point my kids were ready to go. It's been quite a while since we've been to Dave & Buster's for any reason, so it was great to be back out there again to celebrate my mom and my son's birthday. We started with half-price cocktails during happy hour, and then enjoyed a delicious meal from start to finish. My salmon was amazing, so well-seasoned. We had the Korean sticky ribs as an appetizer age everyone raved about them! They've got a great 15% discount for veterans and heroes of the pandemic. Dave & Buster's has a special place in my memory bank due to the glorious childhood memories of gathering tickets upon tickets; however, this Dave & Buster's location always seems to have broken or inoperable games, which is my primary reason for attending an establishment, such as this one. While there might be an occasional wait line for certain games, it is a much better visitor to game ratio than Andretti's and your wait time is minimal, depending on the individual's self-awareness that others are waiting to enjoy that game as well. It is nice to see the "prizes" rotate out with new items at a decent pace but the games are often the same ones and haven't move in years; it would be nice to see a better influx, maybe some retro gaming options. The biggest complaint is the food. Each Wednesday we go to take advantage of the amazing half-priced games, which is spectacular but we are time and time again disappointed in the food service and the food quality. Bottom line is the service is way too time consuming with mediocre food and is counterproductive to the purpose of dining and gaming. We will continue to go for the games but we will not dine there anymore and we would rather pick up fast-food en route to the stalemated fun. read more
