Located in an Exxon gas station parking lot across from NRG Stadium is Davalos Taqueria, one of the only taco trucks in this stretch along Main. Beyond the semi-unique name, they seem like a pretty average taqueria on wheels, offering a variety of tacos, quesadillas, tortas, enchiladas, and more.
The guys running this truck are super bilingual and know their audience well. They're able to pick out first timers right off the bat, which is impressive during a time like Rodeo, where tourists are all over the area. I imagine that's some of their best business all year.
Meat choices are limited to fajita, chicken, pastor, and barbacoa. Having had a good mix of tacos and quesadillas, I can say that the latter was the better item for me and the fajita meat was the winner over the pastor. At one point in time, they offered nachos, birria, and menuda but I believe they've simplified their choices and now also offer rice bowls.
The only accept cash to my knowledge. They are closed on Sundays and are only open till around 8pm at night. I do wish they were open late, but I understand the area gets a little dodgy after a certain time. read more
