I just love DASSH this little gem tucked in the historic downtown of Grants Pass! This is a family owned and run by a great mom and pop (young and trendy) couple. They work hard to bring amazing handmade pastries and goodies each day. They're fun and creative and most days you'll find their kids bopping around offering a helping hand or doing school work in the corner. I love this little family and all they do. Something many don't realize is how much heart and energy it takes to be your own boss in today's world, and this place shows up each day. This place is good, it is very convenient if you want a quick stop. But, it is a not a place I would recommend going-out-of-your-way to get to. If you are are in the neighborhood definitely get a homemade SCONE. Or their quiche's look good (I didn't order one, but I was tempted to try it!) In addition to their plethora of homemade scones and baked goods, another big plus that stood out in my mind was the way they made their Mocha. It wasn't necessarily *innovative* per say, but it is different than the way other coffee shops make it. DASSH made my Mocha with steaming chocolate milk direct; instead of steaming milk then adding Chocolate Syrup to it. Dassh's way made it a lot less overwhelmingly sweet and saccharin, but it still had a subtle chocolate flavor. It was good, and something different than what I expected. Also, another reviewer mentioned that the bagels were not made in-house and were bought at a Grocery-store-chain; I can confirm that statement. I happened to be eating outside, when a staff member was bringing in the groceries from the trunk of her car, so I did see that to be truth. But, that is not necessarily a criticism, I mean, I understand getting produce and such from there. But, I did see bagels in the bags as well. So it goes. My negative complaint is that the outside of the bldg is very cute. IT has a rustic design to it, with the big Historic, red-brick building. The subtle decor outside really supplement it quite well. But, I noticed a distinct deficit when I entered inside the bakery. There was no design, or any style of heart that seems to be put into the inside decor. It was bland and simple, similar to a hospital cafeteria would be. I'm probably be over-picky and peculiar with this; but that is my honest feedback and opinions about this bakery. Go there if you are in the neighborhood and want to grab a quick scone or baked good! Oh, also another negative (constructive) criticism/suggestion I would have, is that on the coffee cup, it was plain, boring, white old cups. I understand they are a Bakery and not a coffee shop (in this town, coffee is even MORE competitive). Regardless, they should still get a stamp that puts their name on their cup (cheap advertisement!!) And, addition it just puts a little more "heart & soul" into their business. read more

Excellent find in Grants Pass for lunch and goodies. The TBA - turkey, crisp bacon and avocado On homemade focaccia bread was just the right size. The bread was light and with the just right amount of seasoning. Husband ordered a club sandwich. They made it warm by mistake so they gave us two yummy chocolate chip cookies. Saturday 5/2/2020 I had the pleasure of stopping at Dassh Bakery and ordering to go breakfast for the whole family. Boy, what a treat. Not only was the food great, the customer service was awesome. We got a chance to meet Summer (daughter of owner), and might I say that she is a gem of person. Dassh Bakery was absolutely booming. There was a constant line, but the line kept moving. Oh this family owned business in a GEM. Often when waiting, my kiddos and I talk with the girls or spend time basking in the sun chatting away with them. It's lovely to see a mom and pop shop owned where the littles (and yours) are so welcome and loved on and included. Ashley & her husband serve everything warm and fresh with amazing local ingredients. They have a passion for what they do and you can taste the difference when food is made with love...you really can taste it, there is a sensation and energy that you can feel when someone loves to cook and bake. All of their customers leave with a smile (and their dogs too). Everything is made from scratch. We love their biscuits & gravy, quiche, their bagel sammy's and their lavender lemonade (seasonal). This local, family-owned and operated gem-of-a-bakery offers everything from fresh made pastries to scrumptious savory sandwiches, salads and everything in between. My favorite is the "Mama Bagel"- a freshly made pretzel-style, everything bagel topped with cream cheese, avocado and fresh tomatoes. It is my go-to every time I visit and it has NEVER disappointed. My Husband is a huge biscuits and gravy fan - he gets it every time we go to brunch on a mission to find the best biscuits and gravy around. Dassh is hands down his favorite - always so fresh, fluffy and flavor-packed. In addition to their never-disappointing food options, Dassh is a great supporter of our community! Run by a husband and wife team that works 6 days a week, Dassh never fails to step up and participate in local events. One of my favorite things about Rogue Winterfest is the delectable treats provided by Dassh. During the holiday season, it is harder to get into their space as the location gets blocked off annually by our town Christmas tree. I encourage you all to park and walk in! What I love even more is that during this time, they have never once complained about the huge impact it has on their business. Instead, they work harder to make an even more valiant attempt to provide hot coco and holiday treats to anyone visiting the tree lighting ceremony. If I think back on my 39-plus years on this planet, I can't remember being in more than two bakeries. There was a tiny cupcake shop/bakery in Colorado that I used to kill time at but I only went there for coffee, and never tried a single baked good. My choice to visit DASSH wasn't based on my love of bakeries then, but rather on my lack of options. I was hungry for breakfast and most places I walked passed were either closed or very busy. When I arrived at DASSH I didn't have high hopes--it's very small, tucked away on a side street, and there were children running around behind the counter. Still, I was hungry and impatient, so I ordered a homemade bagel with eggs. Ho-ly cow! I'm not gonna say it was the best bagel I've ever had, cause I'm from Jersey and everyone knows that nothing compares to a Jersey bagel, but it was the best piece of bread I've had since leaving the east coast. I've been there a couple more times since then--one time I got the quiche and loved it and another time I got the biscuits and gravy and mostly enjoyed it. I've since stopped drinking coffee, but the one time I've had coffee at DASSH, it was splendid. Despite it being a very small bakery with limited seating, I've never had trouble finding a place to sit and read while eating my breakfast. While the service isn't anything to write home about, everyone has been friendly and I've gotten the food I ordered in a very reasonable amount of time. read more

I've attempted to try this place many times over the years, but their hours are limited. Anyways, I've heard great things about them. So last night at the Christmas tree lighting they were open late and I decided to try them out. It was busy, but they were very organized and they had plenty of people behind the counter. As I got up to the front of the line I waited as they finished the order of the lady in front of me, and then the person taking orders literally ignored me and help the people behind me. And she looked at me several times and didn't say anything. I wasn't greeted, and barely acknowledged. Maybe she thought I had already been helped, but she didn't even ask. So I stood there for a little bit longer and nobody else acknowledged me. So I just left. I heard this place has excellent food, but I guess I'll never know. I love this little shop. Their coffee, their pastries, their sandwiches, their quiche, their cookies and other goodies... all expectantly delicious... packed into a tight, yet super-charming, uber-fun spot right in the heart of old-town downtown. The best part? Ashley and Doug. They are incredible folks who ALWAYS greet guests with cheer and friendly service. Their kids are frequent visitors to the shop, and often are seen helping out.
