Very hip coffee shop fairly close to The District and NewBo area. There was actually plenty of parking when I was there about 8:30ish on a weekday morning. There was a line but it went quickly. Know that there is only one size here, what I would consider an extremely small coffee but my latte was good. (The higher end and more artisanal the place, the smaller the cup!) I also got a chorizo-fajita scone to go. It would have been better if it had been heated. That scone really needed more spice. I loved the inside art, merchandise and they had a cool reusable cups for purchase (coozies with a glass jar) that I think allowed for lots of free coffee. Cool spot and again, I would have liked to have stayed awhile. Pretty busy spot and lots of food was coming out of the kitchen, too. read more

Fantastic little caffeine hot spot with artistic industrial flair, nice two hour parking, plenty of space and well spaced outlets, I noticed music at a good level. Staff was great and patient as I looked over the menu then found the specials. Hummingbird it was! They didn't give a personal cup discount oddly but walked away with a nearly fully tumbler of almond milk and espresso tuned with sweet well balanced flavors. Wifi was quick and I was comfortable for my hour before heading back to Indiana, always a fun treat to find another top notch coffee dip in the wild! read more

On my constant quest for great local coffee, Dash Coffee Roasters was my latest adventure and it does not disappoint. Located near downtown Cedar Rapids, Dash is everything you want in a coffee shop. While I enjoy a great espresso drink, the sign of a good coffee shop is their drip coffee and Dash's is outstanding. My only disappointment was they only have a 10oz cup to go. I solved that on my second visit by pulling out my travel mug and having a bit more to take with me. In addition to having a selection of pastries and sweets, Dash also offers breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, and bowls. I had the So Basic sandwich which is bacon, egg, and cheese on a roll. It was delightful. The service was great at Dash, with everyone being super friendly. The vibe is very relaxed with customers being encouraged to get their coffee for dine in. read more

I'm slowly really starting to enjoy a good coffee thanks for a couple friends. This place is relatively close to downtown, but I drove there because it was cold and I was feeling lazy. it's easy to find and well labeled. I ended up with a El Salvador pour over based on a rec from the gal working the counter. It was marvelous... ton of flavor, well balanced and a pretty good value as you end up with a good cup and a half or more of coffee. The place was clean, laid out well and had plenty of outlets and such. I saddled up, enjoyed my coffee and worked for an hour or so. The wifi was good, staff friendly and plenty of foot traffic to keep me content and not working too hard :) read more

Yes! Real coffee! Delicious! Had to stay a couple of nights in Cedar Rapids and this was a great find. Friendly staff, delicious coffee, and even a warm bowl of oatmeal. They make a delicious pour over. Also, I found the Bailey's Irish cream cappuccino quite delicious. Not sweet and definitely had a nice whiskey flavor. I'm usually not a fan of fancy coffee drinks but, according to the barista, this was when not to miss. So I had to take one for the team and give it a try! We attended a "cupping class" and had a blast!!! The space is very clean and modern with plenty of room for seating and good conversation. During the cupping, we learned so much about coffee that we did not know before. The owner was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. However, does any of that really mean anything if they have bad coffee? Personally, do not get between me and my coffee. Let me tell you that no one needs to be in fear. The coffee was incredible. They roast everything on site with an attention to detail that I have never seen before. The owner described the process by which they roast the coffee. Each set of coffee beans is personally selected and then carefully monitored during the roasting process to ensure quality. All that attention to detail pays off with some amazing java!!! My daughter and I searched for a coffee shop nearby and Dash was a result of the search. The menu is not huge, but what is on it are probably favorites to many. I had the avocado toast and the honey and cinnamon hot latte. Both were amazing! I got a to go order of the kickin' chicken and that looked good as well. You get your own food at the counter, so I can't say a lot about the service. The restaurant is roomy and cozy. We will definitely return soon! read more

Dash very well may be my favorite coffee joint in all of CR. From the friendly staff to the fresh grounds and open atmosphere with tons of succulents to look at and the opportunity to meet all walks of life. They have killer food (most don't expect this of a coffee shop) and delicious hot or cold drinks. I love their monthly specials but you can never go wrong with any of their sandwiches. And their baked goods, be careful... they're addicting!! The chocolate almond coconut scone is worth every cent. As far as the monthly menu goes they usually have a pudding of some sort (it's the closest to an açaí bowl that I can find in CR), it's usually a chia pudding with lots of scrumptious toppings. They always have an avocado toast with interesting toppings that I tend to be slightly apprehensive of at first but once I take my first bite I'm sold! Anyway, I go there often whether sitting at the bar along the window to see the random views and wonderful people of CR or at the old school dinner table there's always someone kind to chat with. Oh! And I almost forgot to mention, they have coloring nights and cupping/other fun classes for the public that I have yet to attend but totally look forward to! read more

I used to come to Dash all the time when I was in my undergrad, but since moving to Iowa City I hadn't made the trip in a while. I decided to make the trip up again and it was well worth it. The coffee, atmosphere, and people are stellar. I hung out for a few hours to get some work done and it was the perfect atmosphere for that. Highly recommend! read more

"No, actually, quiche usually isn't served with a burnt, chewy, impossible to cut through top," I said as I showed my Google image search of beautiful, not burnt browned-topped quiches to the owner. This was my second visit. My first visit resulted in a four star review. But for the excellent coffee, I would be giving this place two stars after my unpleasant encounter with the owner. Ordered the daily quiche. It arrived over cooked, rubbery, and dark brown on top. I could hardly chew my first bite. I took it back to the woman taking orders telling her it wasn't good. She looked at me like I was crazy. I explained that I wanted a refund and would get it on my way out after I finished my business meeting (as my companion had limited time). After my meeting ended, I returned to the front and was given a receipt for my refund. I then reiterated my concern for the overdoneness of the quiche and she told me that quiche is supposed to be like that, cooked like that, and that is the only way to do it. And again, looked at me like I was crazy for even suggesting there was anything wrong with their food and how could I be seriously suggesting the same. And while I did receive a full refund, it was not given to me with any kind of apology or graciousness. There is nothing worse then being made to feel like crap when out to eat. I left. But then, my hurt changed to anger and I looked up images of quiche, confirmed that no one burns their quiche, walked back in, and showed her the pics. She then changed her story and said, "We can only cook it that way.". Whatever. I don't know. Just disappointed. As cool as Dash is, their too cool attitude cannot get in the way of hearing legit feedback. I hope they will look at this piece of customer service. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to visit Dash! First of all - major kudos to the owners for the cool vibe, fresh, homemade food and of course the delicious coffee. My friend brought me back a pour over to work last week and I about died...it was so good! We went back for lunch and Dash did not disappoint. Their sandwiches are tasty without being heavy - their bakery items are made fresh in house and are amazing. Their soup was delicious! I ordered a pour over again and it was excellent. They brew their own beans and do a great job. Not only is the food and coffee so great, but the inside atmosphere is so modern and effortlessly cool. Congrats Dash! You win! I bow to you. read more

Dash Coffee has most of the ingredients of a really great roastery, but they will need to perfect a few things before they can be called one. Their first impression is a great one: the exterior and interior are both equally beautiful. The inside has a bight, open feel to it, with lots of tables and seating, glass windows that look both outside and into the actual roasting area, and a very clean and organized brew bar. They also have a great menu, with lots of coffee and espresso options, including no fewer than 6 different fresh brew types. Their baristas are super nice: I really enjoyed my conversation with one of them. The prices are all very reasonable, and parking is ample and free. The wifi seemed to be spotty at times, but was also free. However, the attention to detail here seems to be somewhat lacking, especially when it comes to pour-overs. I ordered two coffees here, and my wife ordered another two. With my first coffee, a Guatemala pour-over, the barista made two espresso drinks (both lattes) of customers who ordered *after* I did, plus my wife's espresso drink, before he even started my drink. Pour-overs always take longer than espresso, of course, but that doesn't mean that baristas should prioritize espresso drinks over pour-overs. On my second pour-over (also a Guatemala), the baristas completely forgot about my drink. After more than 10 minutes and quite a few other drinks were served, I went back to the counter to ask, at which time they realized they never made my drink. To make matters worse, they offered me a batch-brew coffee as a replacement (which is like a steakhouse offering someone who ordered a steak that never ended up being cooked some beef jerkey instead), and when I said no, totally rushed my beverage: it was noticeably worse than the first. Both of my wife's espresso-based drinks came out quickly and tasted fine. The bottom line is, even though this roastery offers a huge number of pour-over bean options, those types of drinks seem to be a major after-thought compared to their espresso based drinks. All in all, this is a good place to go to get some work done, and fine if you are looking for an espresso based beverage, but if you are really into coffee beans and freshly brewed coffee, you might consider going somewhere else. read more

Update: Tried the cranberry orange scone again and it was fantastic! Last time must have been a fluke! --------- I've been wanting to try out Dash ever since it opened in November last year. I love the idea of a community-driven coffee shop that offers good coffee and an even better atmosphere. On my first visit to Dash I ordered a cold brew and an orange-cranberry scone. The coffee was great, strong and flavorful just how I like it. A perfect morning pick-me-up on a very hot May morning. The scone was... strange. I feel like they might have forgotten to add sugar to the batter. The texture was amazing and I could tell that this scone WANTED to be good... But the lack of sweetness made the cranberries very sour and the scone itself quite bland. I think this was just a fluke so I will definitely be back and giving the scones another try. read more

Small portion and not flavorful at all. Coffee was meh. Certainly not better than DD. Overall, not worth the time or money. Definitely over-hyped. My bad. Last time to Dash.
