Customer service has never been the smile you get when paying for a purchase. That's being nice, and I do appreciate it. Customer Service is how a company steps up to correct a problem. When a bike lock won't unlock half the time, that's a problem. Although the lock was made overseas, Dash stood by the customer and refunded my money. THAT IS HOW CUSTOMER SERVICE SHOULD WORK. I bought a beautiful yellow Cannondale Synapse 3 in mid July and thanks to the incredible customer service from all the staff, I am sure I made the optimal choice. I came in with a million questions: I had a race coming up; I had zero experience with road bikes and associated components; I didn't want to over/under spend; etc... I first encountered Josh who fit me to a bike size, explained the functionality of the things I was unfamiliar with, and helped me decide on the Synapse 3. I came back the next day to get the bike and was helped by Leo (who I later found out was the owner). They offer customers 1 free "tune up" visit after the bike has been ridden for a few months and broken-in, which they usually offer closer to winter season once it slows down. Leo kindly agreed to let me come back in a week just before my Triathlon to ensure everything was perfect for me. I had a great experience overall and would recommend to anyone looking to buy a new or used bike, or have repairs done. Dash Bicycle Shop is a nice bike shop located in Providence. I needed new inner tubes for my tires and after calling them they said if that's all I needed they would be able to accommodate me while I wait. Great customer service and nice shop with a cute connected coffee shop to enjoy a beverage while you wait. The only downside is getting your bike into the shop, as the street parking is pretty full during the week days. Cyclers beware! were do i start? First time customer. walks in with a $2000 cannondale downhill crusher. dropped the bike off for full tune up, rear hydrolic brake line & lever assembly. Replace both tubes in tires & the finicky euro stems ,with the more rider friendly stateside standard stems. easy right... NOPE! AFTER dropping off the bike i recieved multiple text messages from multipe people, over 3 weeks telling me the bike was ready for pick up, then 2-3hours later we made a mistake it isnt ready. telling me they had parts for my bike. then they didnt?? wtf? (I have all the text messages to prove it!) while never talking to the same person at all. then after quoteing me a walk-in diagnostic & repair price. of $220.00 I recieved multipe messages of price increases for parts 25 for this &75 for that. Again from multipe different people . Finally the call comes to pic the bike up . I go to pic up the bike it is presented to me with a lever assembly that does not match my front brake assembley in stye look or color. the brake line is even the wrong color. again a $2000 bike?. They never replaced the euro air stems with the standard stems. & charged me an extra $120.00 for there labor. on top of quoted price. no one had answers when asked ? WTF? IS this, i had to get the bike out of there. its a $2000 bike in the hands of wkend garage rank amateurs??! i asked for the owner they gave me excuses .why they were not available. Now my $2000 bike looks like some frankinstiens monster. mismatched brakeline & levers ,ohh yea the rear tire went flat right after i got home & put rated air pressure in the tire. Great addition to the downtown business district. They provide full repair and tune up services. Just like the Broadway store. Inventory is similar. Maybe a tad less items that the main store. The downtown store is located at the Arcade, you can enter through 130 Westminster or 66 Weybosset. Look for Suite 105. Their business hours are 10-7. M-Sat You can get helmets, bike seats, locks, bell ringers, gear, water bottles, carriers, etc..pretty much the basic stuff you will need for a bike ride. Bike rental is also available. I can't speak more highly about this wonderful local bike shop. Coming from a non-biking background, the team helped me find a great bike for a charity bike ride I was fundraising for. I must've spent several hours there trying various bikes, riding them around Providence and learning how important fit is for road bikes. I never felt like an annoyance with my endless question list. I have a bike that's built from a mishmash of parts - perfect for my purposes but a little weird looking and it tends to throw shops a little bit. Not DASH! Brought it in for some repairs and a spring tuneup last year and they didn't even blink. They also don't try to upsell here which I love. I don't know as much about my bikes as I should, so they explained why each repair needed to be made, so I didn't feel swindled at all. Really friendly people, fair prices (they're not cheap, but you're supporting a local business and getting awesome service), and most importantly they do a great job with the bikes. (writing this review has reminded me it's probably time to bring my bike in for another tuneup - I'll definitely be going to DASH) read more

They are really great at what they do and you can tell they take pride in their work. They have built 3 custom bikes for me and every one was flawless. DASH is a great neighborhood bike shop. Most of the time I stop by here on my way out for a ride to pump up my tires, get my handlebars oiled, or buy some accessory that I've been eying. I had a great experience at Dash recently, and I was so happy with my bike purchase! I recently got a new job in PVD that allows me the freedom to commute to work by bike. I had an idea of what I wanted in a bike, but was looking to get some guidance from a good shop. Dash came up repeatedly in my search, so I decided to check it out. I was able to work through my different options with the staff, and took bikes out for test rides as needed. Once I settled on a bike, I needed to get some accessories. Like any brick and mortar bike shop, don't expect an Amazon-like selection - instead, Dash stocks a selection of high quality products at reasonable prices. My favorite part of the experience was the staff. They were SO helpful and patient. I was thee for a while, and yet they never seemed to get impatient with me. They made my purchase a breeze too - installing all of accessories on my bike and even offering up alternatives to help me get the best use out of my bike, like a bungee cord and a milk crate. Wahoo! Dash just opened up a second location in the recently reopened Arcade! Stopped in today to scope it out and pick up a new tube. It's everything you should expect from a small downtown spot - all of the basics to buy like helmets, locks, tires, tubes, panniers, patch kits, and handlebar tape. With juuuuust enough room behind the counter for a bike repair stand for a tuneup or fixing a flat. And storage in the basement for bikes to rent. Gleeful that tourists can now jump off the bus or train and have a bike rental option right downtown. For bigger inventory and bike purchases, be sure to head to the Broadway location. After a bad experience at another Providence bike shop, it was beyond refreshing to walk into this place. Everyone was very helpful and patient. I was blown away by Adrian (I hope I am spelling that right), who, despite the fact that I am a biking novice, really made me feel "at home" in the shop. There was zero bike snobbery, but an obvious level of professionalism and knowledge on display. She even helped me load my bike into my car and gave me an impromptu lesson on how to take my front tire on and off. For all of you middle-agers out there, like me, who may be thinking about getting a nice light road bike like all the kids are riding these days and hitting the bike paths in an effort to stay fit and healthy, Dash is a great place to start! With the weather in Providence breaking, spring is right around the corner. Or, perhaps it's already here! With high optimism I took my bicycle into Dash for a tune up. I had it back in no time. Today I went in to get a few pieces of gear and found the guys to be incredibly helpful. If I could hang out in the shop I definitely would. Dash is a great neighborhood bike shop. Don't let the fact that it's staffed by bike messengers and the windows are covered in flyers for punk-rock shows and vegan silkscreened art stuff fool you. This is not the type of stereotypical indie bike shop filled with condescending jerks that either outright ignore you or treat you like an idiot because you don't already know everything about bikes. I've only gone to Dash for service on my existing bike, and I'm not a cycling aficionado so I cannot speak to their pricing or selection for buying new bikes. I can say that their service is excellent. When I moved into the neighborhood I brought my bike that had been sitting in my old basement for two years with a flat tire to Dash. I was so excited to just be able to walk it down the street to them rather than have to dig out the bike rack for the car and schlep out to the suburbs just to fix a flat. The Dash mechanic fixed the bike in just a few minutes, and talked to me about some of the issues he saw with the bike. Now some folks would immediately have alarm bells go off in their head when this happens - thinking they're just trying to sell you stuff you don't need. I generally go with my gut in these situations. I feel like the mechanic I dealt with was trustworthy, and was giving me his best advice. There was no pressure, and my options were laid out for me clearly. I rode my bike for a week on my daily commute, and could definitely see the issues the mechanic had talked to me about. I brought it back to Dash for a tune up which they were able to accomplish in one day (this is rare, normal turnaround time is longer). The bike rides a million percent better now, and I don't think the cost was too high. Overall I found them to be friendly, helpful, and professional every step of the way. Not being very mechanically inclined, I'm glad to live in a neighborhood where I can have a partner in keeping my bike ridable. read more

I bought a bike when I moved to Providence and it came with a few broken/missing pieces. After figuring out that it would cost me $80 in shipping to return the bike and get my money back I figured I might as well see how much it would cost to fix. I brought my bike into Dash and was quoted around $15 to fix all the bent screws and messed up breaks - which I thought was an amazing price. The guy even said he could work on it that day and if I came back in 30 minutes or so he would have all the parts switched out. I came back around 40 minutes later and everything was finished. My total cost was $12 and change and now I have a bike that rides great. The guys at Dash saved me a ton of aggravation and money. I plan to keep using them whenever I need stuff for my bike. read more

This place is simply the best. I've been getting my bike tuned up each year with these guys and recently purchased a new bike. The owner, Leo I believe, is amazing. He's so great at explaining details about the bikes without making you feel like a moron. Let's you test ride anything you want. Really works with you to get what you need done as soon as possible. I came in to try their churros but ended up in LOVE with their Tres Leche cake. As a Latina, I've had my fair share of tres leche and I have never liked it. This is the ONLY place whose tres leche was better than any other I have ever tried. The only downside to me is that their churros are not as soft as I would like them to be. Really friendly staff who are knowledgeable about bikes and give good advice without trying to rip you off. Staff at some bike shops tend to be snobby, but my experience was the complete opposite. I went to get a good lock, possibly looking to get a bigger U-lock (~$50), but I was recommended to keep my small U-lock and just buy a kryptonite cable (~$15) instead. He then took time to explain the safest way to lock my bike. I would give 5 stars for the staff and nice selection of bikes they carry, but I found my bike helmet to be a bit pricier than some prices I found online. read more
