I have been coming here to have my skis tuned over the years. I've been very satisfied. This fall I needed a new Atomic helmet with visor. It's not one they stock. Fran took a lot of time with me to research the right helmet, how to obtain it. She ordered it immediately and was on top of when it was delivered. Apparently, it took 3 different deliveries to get the correct helmet. I am very appreciative and totally happy with all her efforts. read more

We went to buy my son cross-country skis for Christmas, but it was a frustrating experience from the start. It took a while to get someone to help, and when a woman finally came out, there was only one other customer in the store at the time. She helped us find the right size boots, then wandered off before my son had finished trying them on. She didn't return to assist us with the skis and poles and instead started helping other customers while we waited. After nearly 20 minutes, she came out with an older gentleman, but instead of helping us right away, he went to help the people next to us, who were already being assisted, and then ignored us completely as he walked past. I was frustrated at this point, so I snapped and told him, "It's us. She wants you to help us." I apologized afterward and explained that we had been waiting for her for almost 20 minutes, watching her assist other customers before coming back to finish with us. He was very kind and helped us with the skis and poles, and I asked if there was a package deal for buying everything together. He went to check on it for us. While we were waiting, a woman's two toddlers were knocked over by some dogs that had appeared out of nowhere. The kids were scared and started crying. As the woman tried to calm them, I moved closer to the counter to put myself between the dogs and her children, and asked the woman behind the counter why the dogs weren't on leashes. That's when another woman came out of the back, grabbed the dogs (apparently hers), and then yelled at me to leave. I responded, "Your dogs knocked over children, and I'm the one who needs to leave? I came here to shop locally, and you ignored us for 20 minutes, only to tell us to leave now? This is the worst service I've ever had." Needless to say, I took my business to REI instead. read more

My husband and I have been coming here for years -- for our family's skis & boots, gear, jackets, apparel and ski storage. We have ALWAYS received superior customer service -- from the people at the front desk, to the knowledgeable folks on the floor, to the people tuning our skis and making sure our bindings are safe! We are greeted warmly and with a smile. I can't say enough great things about Alpine ski and snowboard they will have our business forever. read more

They do a good job fitting you for gear. I just wish they had some more staff just to move things along faster but that's about it. Only downside is that they wanted to charge $80 to set my bindings, which is ridiculous, just because I didn't buy the skis from them. Other places do it for $25. But overall good experience. read more

Thank you Alpine for the help when trying to find new skis to better suit my capabilities. We came to get our boots heat molded and to talk with someone to get new ski recommendations. Left here happy and attended to along with my new skis. This season has been so much more enjoyable, Thank you!!! I definitely think the customer service during busy times could be worked on. It gets a bit hectic and you could be waiting for over 15-30 min for someone to assist you. Other than that I did enjoy my time there. read more

Great environment and a friendly staff. Alpine is the only ski shop in RI that does same day ski/board tune ups (even during busy holiday season). IF YOU NEED A LAST MINUTE TUNE UP GO HERE AND SKIP THE THREE DAY WAIT! read more

Love the craft Salomon gear I got and the staff were helpful and kind. Would personally recommend renting gear here also if possible.

I don't write a lot of reviews but I felt like my experience was kind of shady and people might want to know. I went to Alpine looking for a new pair of boots, having not skied in a few years. Salesman was knowledgeable. The only pair they said they had in my size was comfortable but $450. When I said that was too steep, the salesperson looked in the back with another salesman and said there was nothing else in my size. Only when I said I was leaving and would look someplace else did the second salesman tell me to wait, and lo and behold, there was another pair available for $250. Felt kind of slimy to me as though I had been car shopping at a shifty dealership. Did not buy the boots. read more

Got exactly what we were looking for: two full sets of intermediate skis, boots and bindings for way less then we were prepared to spend. Jeff was knowledgable and friendly and worked late to make sure we'd be ready to go for next morning. We tested the gear yesterday and had a blast. Five stars. read more

expensive, not especially friendly/helpful (unless you are dropping big $$ on gear, maybe) and can be very slow in the evenings. As others have noted you can walk in and stand around for 10-15 mins before you get noticed. Given how busy they are right before closing, which is early, why not stay open another hour to ease the rush? They only carry Volkl skis, which are among the more expensive brands. But they are busy, which I guess is a good indicator of the economy right now! read more

What an awesome store and what great knowledge and service! We took are almost 4 year old twins there, they patiently fitted them for boots, skis, and helped us figure out what other equipment we need! Then they helped me and my husband do the same while they entertained the kids! A gem of a store! Joyce and Fran and Jay are all fantastic! If you need good equipment with good value and people who are trying to help you get what you need and not anything extra this is the shop for you!!! Can't rave about them anymore!!! read more

Joyce and the team at Alpine Ski and Snowboard are absolutely amazing. She took the time to get my boots to be perfect. They truly know how to fit boots and recommend equipment. The amount of pride they take in ensuring their customers are happy is best out there. I've tried other ski shops and none come close to this one. Having been there a few times for ski gear I figured they would be good for my daughter. Came in on a Saturday and was offered help right away. Carries all major brands like Oakley etc Gave excellent advice and reasonable prices. Very educated in the field. Can't complain about anything read more

I bought my snowboard boots from here a few years ago. That did not have my size (13) I was able to get into a smaller size they had available. Service was so so. Kinda of a little rude vibe one of the times I went in. I have brought my board there 3 years in a row for a tune. I would not recommend using them for these service. I went to Civil in East Greenwich. OH what a difference!!!! Night and day. They didn't fix any gouging or deep scrapes (Alpine) Although civil did charge a few dollars to fix the scrapes and gauges. They at least offered it. They came around the counter full inspected my board Went over it with me. The staff is extremely knowledgeable. Im a beginner in the sport of skiing, this place was extremely helpful in not only boot fitting, but in ski selection as well. As a 6'3" man, finding skis in my size is relatively difficult but it was a breeze with this shop. It was an overwhelmingly positive experience, our salesman, Dennis, had a clear passion and knowledge for skiing and helped us find a pair of skis, put bindings on them and fit us for boots under an hour and was extremely helpful in explaining the different nuances of ski boots and ski types, they also don't make commission, so they're not going to try to up-sell skis to you in order to profit themselves. Just came back from one of the best days of the year at Loon. Alpine had arranged a private shop demo with all of NEXT years skis from Atomic and Volkl.... Awesome display of tremendous customer service and care. Not only do Rick and Joyce know what they're talking about....they rip! Great skiers and love for the sport makes a great shop! Keep skiing guys, you have a customer for life in my family. Atomic 83's were the hit of the day. Ultra versatile, great stability, quick, and train-like hold... Very disappointed with this shop. Said we could bring back our set of skis if we did not like them or if we did not feel comfortable on them. The salesman encouraged us to buy skis that were too big. We went to take them back and guess what? We couldn't return them because "it was too late" even though we purchased them 2 weeks ago. Not a man of his word. One good thing about this shop is that the dogs are very cute and well behaved. read more

We started going to Alpine for our gear but after my husband consigned two pairs of skis and never got paid for them we stopped. The skis were sold and when he went to the store and asked them he was told that the store can't keep track of all their consignments. read more
