We went to buy my son cross-country skis for Christmas, but it was a frustrating experience from…read morethe start. It took a while to get someone to help, and when a woman finally came out, there was only one other customer in the store at the time. She helped us find the right size boots, then wandered off before my son had finished trying them on. She didn't return to assist us with the skis and poles and instead started helping other customers while we waited. After nearly 20 minutes, she came out with an older gentleman, but instead of helping us right away, he went to help the people next to us, who were already being assisted, and then ignored us completely as he walked past. I was frustrated at this point, so I snapped and told him, "It's us. She wants you to help us." I apologized afterward and explained that we had been waiting for her for almost 20 minutes, watching her assist other customers before coming back to finish with us. He was very kind and helped us with the skis and poles, and I asked if there was a package deal for buying everything together. He went to check on it for us. While we were waiting, a woman's two toddlers were knocked over by some dogs that had appeared out of nowhere. The kids were scared and started crying. As the woman tried to calm them, I moved closer to the counter to put myself between the dogs and her children, and asked the woman behind the counter why the dogs weren't on leashes. That's when another woman came out of the back, grabbed the dogs (apparently hers), and then yelled at me to leave. I responded, "Your dogs knocked over children, and I'm the one who needs to leave? I came here to shop locally, and you ignored us for 20 minutes, only to tell us to leave now? This is the worst service I've ever had." Needless to say, I took my business to REI instead.

The owner was always good to me, even threw in a few card for free out of nowhere, which was exceptionally cool because they were 1968 Atlantic Oil Pepitone and Tresh I believe. I got great prices on everything I purchased. For everyone complaining that the owner won't match eBay prices .... This isn't home Depot! Do you message every seller on eBay that doesn't have a card for sale at what you consider a fair comp and complain to them? First of all a brick and mortar card shop has wayyyy more overhead than your average eBay seller. That being said, the atmosphere on eBay, especially with modern stuff, is to sell it as fast as possible, which usually means a lower price. Card shops aren't always in a rush to dump their stuff at a lower price. These guys have been around for decades and know the importance of being patient to maximize the return on their investments. Comps especially on newer cards literally change every week, especially if it's during the season, so of I owned a shop I wouldn't be basing my asking prices strictly from eBay comps. I've got no loyalty to the owner and I'm sure he doesn't even remember me because it's been so long, but leaving a less than favorable review over not matching an eBay price is ridiculous. That actually impacts his business negatively, and I can assure everyone that the dozen times I've made the trip to sports heroes,I was treated with great. The owner wasn't pushy, him and his son were sorting a box of vintage behind the counter or just doing their own thing. I spent time browsing through the off grade boxes they had at the center of the store ,( not certain if they're still there) they weren't looking over my shoulders. Even got into small talk on several occasions about cards and my Yankees. I have been a collector for 37 years now, and I would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone. Hope to be back soon!

The vibe was very friendly, with great music playing and the staff were sociable and helpful. It's not easy opening a business during a pandemic, but I think this one has what it takes. This shop had lots of great vintage clothing and accessories. It is not overly stuffed with items and everything is arranged in an artistic and esthetically pleasing way. It's located on the basement of St John's Episcopal Church (across the street from the Shaws). The have ample off street parking and the basement entrance does have stairs. The prices were all very reasonable and every piece they have available is in perfect condition and season appropriate. They accept cash (check and cards are also accepted for purchase over $20). I was able to purchase nearly $75 of clothing and accessories for $26 and the money goes right back to the sellers and the community. Please support this consignment shop and the team of women of who run and sell the items.

i just cant hold this in... i took 16 items to encore mid nov 2025... went bk in dec.. actually…read morepurchased a sweater xmas print wrap... they wer closed the month of Jan 2026 went in Feb...not one of my items were there... said i dont have a check.... then she said items after 60 days they own... i said its only been 30 days where did the clothes go? she then said well sometimes people do take things... wow .... i gave encore very good items some not even worn...then rec: a call said you did sell one item but under 10$ you dont get a check... i said i feel your way of consigning is very unorganized... post notes a box of index cards .. all the elder volunteers are sweet but no one has or had a clue ..about my clothes...its more like a Bingo hall... i agree with Katie very outdated i felt like i was in the twilight Zone...all useless excuses...my clothes just disappeared!!! lesson learned... next time i will just donate to my church. The store was really organized and it was easy to find what I was looking for. I snagged some super soft AE jeggings for $16 and they were at least $40 retail. There were Anthropologie jeans going for $28. I also checked out some cute bralettes and sports bras, but they didn't fit right unfortunately. Other things they carried: sportswear (leggings, tops), sweaters, swimsuits, dresses, shorts, jewelry-- basically anything you'd find in a regular clothing store, but at a discount! There were also some cute Newport longsleeves/hoodies in the back. Selection is limited, but that's just the nature of the store-- it depends on what they get from the warehouse. It feels like a treasure hunt. I love this place already and can't wait to see what I find next!
