After many years of working in retail, the two founders imagined a store concept outside the realm of the traditional skate/snowboard/surf shop. The vision was realized in 2007 when the first Civil location opened in East Greenwich Rhode Island. Since then they added stores in Providence and Westerly Rhode Island.....this particular one is on Westminster St, Providence downtown. Their product mix at each one of their stores varies to suite the three distinct locations: in the city (Providence), on main street (EG), and by the beach (Westerly). Civil also has a private label collection and they have been honored to collaborate on projects with elite brands including Nike SB and SLVDR. They support local ripping skateboarders and snowboarders, including the notorious Yawgoons. Since they opened, Civil has been involved in the local skateboard and snowboard community by hosting and sponsoring contests, demos, park cleanups, video premiers, and other cultural events.
