Why does it take so long to ring people up at the cash register. Literally only one person in line and it still took forever !

I love the REI in Garden City. Every employee, literally everyone, is so kind and helpful. They are…read morewilling to go the extra mile and never seem "bothered". REI has great outdoor brands and a decent selection. Prices range and things can be on the higher-end but it's no more expensive than the manufactures sites. I also appreciate that as a member I get perks like cash back, extended returns, etc.

Still five stars. We came in looking for a number of things. Kind of a scouting mission. REI has…read moreplenty to offer for hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, and more. We are looking for, among other things, a smaller tent (ours is huge) that we can easily lug around with us and REI has a large selection. We signed up for their membership several years ago. Just tell them your phone number when making a purchase and you get credit for the purchase. We picked up a UV protective t-shirt as a gift for someone. It was reasonably priced imho, very soft and moisture wicking. Brilliant. I should probably get myself one too. BTW, the company no longer offers bags. None. So bring a reusable bag if you plan to shop here. It's just another way to reduce waste and be a good steward. Some of the prices can be high, but not everything. They sell Patagonia which is an expensive brand, as well as other, more moderately priced items. You just have to know what you want and what you are willing to pay. If you check out the bulletin board upstairs, they offer guided excursions that look really fun. I check out their selection of hiking poles as I am looking to buy some. Everything from really reasonable basic models to foldable, light weight pricey models. So you have options. They have pet items. Personal care items. Clothes and shoes are upstairs. So many types of water bottles. Camping items for both the thru-hiker and the car-camper. Check them out. They are a good resource and the staff are friendly and happy to assist.

Wow! What a wonderful experience. My boyfriend and I are…read morenewer runners and we decided it was time to get shoes that meant business but didnt know where to start. A lot of our powerlifting friends reccommended this place. We were a little wary but it was professional, down to earth, super knowledgeable guys who were excited to talk about running, life, and everything in between! We both left with a pair of sneakers and running socks after also getting professional gait analysis and testing all our shoes on the track area. We will be checking out some of their group events as things get warmer! What a gem!

They also have a running track where you can do a quick sprint to check if the running shoes fit appropriately! The store also offers a wide selection of gels and gummies that can be used during long runs. Not only do they have a vast selection of shoes, their prices are also very reasonable, especially for name brand and high quality running shoes. Thanks again Rhode Runner staff for the awesome experience!

I haven't been to the shop in years, but I've gotta say, this was one of the best locations in the…read morestate for a wide selection of vintage. The owner was always good to me, even threw in a few card for free out of nowhere, which was exceptionally cool because they were 1968 Atlantic Oil Pepitone and Tresh I believe. I got great prices on everything I purchased. For everyone complaining that the owner won't match eBay prices .... This isn't home Depot! Do you message every seller on eBay that doesn't have a card for sale at what you consider a fair comp and complain to them? First of all a brick and mortar card shop has wayyyy more overhead than your average eBay seller. That being said, the atmosphere on eBay, especially with modern stuff, is to sell it as fast as possible, which usually means a lower price. Card shops aren't always in a rush to dump their stuff at a lower price. These guys have been around for decades and know the importance of being patient to maximize the return on their investments. Comps especially on newer cards literally change every week, especially if it's during the season, so of I owned a shop I wouldn't be basing my asking prices strictly from eBay comps. I've got no loyalty to the owner and I'm sure he doesn't even remember me because it's been so long, but leaving a less than favorable review over not matching an eBay price is ridiculous. That actually impacts his business negatively, and I can assure everyone that the dozen times I've made the trip to sports heroes,I was treated with great. The owner wasn't pushy, him and his son were sorting a box of vintage behind the counter or just doing their own thing. I spent time browsing through the off grade boxes they had at the center of the store ,( not certain if they're still there) they weren't looking over my shoulders. Even got into small talk on several occasions about cards and my Yankees. I have been a collector for 37 years now, and I would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone. Hope to be back soon!
