I decided to give this place a try and I ordered a carry out and got a variety of items! I got the filet, fried rice, edamame and crab Rangoon. I arrived at the time they told me to get there and then went straight home after picking it up (I was 5 min away). I got back and the food was already cold. Not great but I figured it would still taste good...I was greatly disappointed. The fried rice they make you pay extra for was so bland and frankly the worst fried rice I've ever tasted. The crab Rangoon was also bland and really chewy like it hadn't been fried properly. I couldn't even eat it. The edamame was just okay and the filet was fine. Overall I was greatly disappointed with the food but hey at least the staff was nice. read more

Went here for the first time Saturday around 4:30pm. The food was good but the place wasn't the cleanest. Tables had food crumbs all over them from the meal before, plates had dust on them. After I requested clean plates, I was a little unsure of staying but the food turned out pretty good. The cook was funny and was good with some of his tricks, wait staff not so friendly. read more

Not surprised with the great reviews. I haven't had good hibachi food since Gengi's closed and I'm so glad I found this spot. The sushi chef is awesome and made special rolls for my family since they're vegetarian. The food and atmosphere is amazing as well. Definitely recommend to a friend and plan to go back often. Came here for dinner with my boyfriend and I was quite disappointed. We chose to sit in the regular tables (not hibachi) but order hibachi food. We both ordered a combo, one with filet and shrimp and the other with filet and scallop. Everything was way too salty. The fried rice, noodles, meat and seafood was drowning in salt and soy sauce. I thought the ginger sauce would help balance the saltiness but even the sauce was salty. I'm not sure if the food is always salty or if the chef accidentally went salt heavy on our meal, but I was super disappointed. After seeing the reviews here I had high expectations. I'm giving two stars because the server was very friendly and attentive. Also, the portions are very big but it is still not worth the money if the food is over salted. Too scared to try this place again and will probably not be back. read more

Best sushi rolls I have found since moving from Palm Springs California to the Columbus area. The Godzilla roll is awesome, but the new Flaming Lobster roll is insane in the best way. Just enough kick and a very complex flavor make it the most unique and tasty roll I've had. Ever. Hardy had invented the perfect roll, and it's only available here. This place was so beautiful the staff was so amazing that maybe feel like I was right at home I absolutely loved the hibachi the steak and shrimp was so soft and good my mouth waters every time I think about it I can't wait until I go back to Ohio just to visit this place I had so much food left I had to leave it at the hotel and entire box of food , not only is there staff inviting and friendly they're very clean and meticulous I think this has to be the best Japanese restaurant I've ever been to I think if anybody's going through this area they should consider having dinner here because hands-down it is my favorite Japanese place and the entire United States of America I'm so glad I stop by here otherwise I would never know what real genuine Japanese food taste like! read more

Excellent service and scallops cooked perfectly! I love going to a restaurant when the staff genuinely cares that you are there and wants to be sure you enjoy your evening, are satisfied with the food and keeps the drink refills flowing. While there is a lot of the typical hibachi things going on here, there were several unique flares added in that made us pay a bit more attention having seen juggling spatulas numerous times over the years. Our chef was funny too which was really a nice change of pace! Their salad dressing was tops and the soup was above average in comparison to other hibachi restaurants. I especially loved that the veggies that come with the hibachi meal included broccoli and carrots with the zucchini, onion and mushrooms. Best of all, it did not come with the overload of onion that has come to be the norm elsewhere. The scallops were large and cooked perfectly! I'm very happy with the whole dining experience. As added info, I did see a chef at another table cooking orders for takeout, something I had never thought to do at this type of a restaurant, but I can see that as something I might do when I get the craving, but don't have the ability to sit and enjoy the show. read more

It was kind of tacky and not really what I was expecting. it's not super classy, but more of a novelty place, really. they also kind of hurried us out through the meal pretty quickly. we might have spent longer waiting than we did actually eating (wait was about 40 minutes). our guy didn't do any tricks or anything, either (although most others did). After doing extensive research on Yelp, Trip Advisor Google reviews and even Reddit, we chose Daruma for our daughter's birthday dinner since she never had Japanese before. Big mistake. No idea how this place receives all the great reviews. It in a small, dark and dreary building in desperate need of an update. The chef's "show" on the very tiny hibachi tables is not much of anything. A couple flips of the spatula, a brief fire and a flaming onion. He really didn't say much of anything. He didn't even ask if it was any special occasion, so my daughter didn't get any special treatment on her birthday. We ordered sushi. It was ok. No chopsticks were provided though. That was disappointing and kind of weird. The food quality and quantity was severely lacking. If it would have been good enough to eat, we easily could have finished it in one sitting. No idea why we even bothered bringing home the leftovers, since it was pretty awful. My wife has a strong aversion to onions, she told the server while ordering and the chef even mentioned it before he began cooking aaand yep, he still dumped the vegetables with onions on her plate. Wonderful. Even after cooking, the vegetables tasted raw anyhow. The shrimp was way overcooked, almost crispy. The yum yum sauce was thin, pale and almost tasteless. The misu soup and salad was excellent. They were the only positives out of the entire experience. Why is it so difficult to find a decent hibachi restaurant in Columbus? We ate at Sakura near Easton a couple years ago and it was pretty darn bad too. Either place cannot compare to Wasabi in the Akron/Cleveland area. We have dined at roughly a dozen different Japanese hibachi restaurants over the years, and Daruma was easily the worst. You have been warned. read more

Absolutely absurd that this place has an overall 4.5 star rating... waited well over 30 minutes to be seated WHILE having a reservation, absurd. When we were finally seated after waiting, they split my group up, AFTER 30 minutes of waiting. Then they were out of saki, OUT OF SAKI???? Crazy. We went here for Father's Day. My dad got the referral from his friend about how great the food is and the prices are very reasonable. We made a reservation and still waited over 20 minutes to be seated. The place felt a bit dirty to me, the floor was sticky. To be honest with you, it's like any other Japanese steakhouse. Nothing too special. The food was good but the prices are all the same. It was also quite further from where I live so not worth the drive since there are many other places near Polaris Parkway. They weren't busy, which was a plus since we were limited on time for our lunch. The service was great. They were very friendly and on top of our needs from the minute we walked in the door. Went here with a group of coworkers for lunch, and it was fantastic. We ate in the dining room, so we missed out on the show part of it, but time was a concern for us. All of us ordered hibachi food as opposed to selecting from their extensive list of sushi and sashimi (but something for me to try next time for sure). While waiting for my take-out order, they showed me to a table and proceeded to provide me Water to drink, salad and eventually soup. What a surprise - just from ordering take-out. We absolutely love it! My husband and I have gone many times and the food is always prepared perfectly! The chefs are very entertaining! Our favorite is Ken, he is so talented. He is over the top funny and keeps you laughing the entire time you are there. The other chefs are super entertaining as well! Someone from management always visits our table before we leave and asks if we were happy and satisfied. They also have coupons from time to time.
