You definitely need a capable car because some uphill parts are rough and slippery (almost lost traction). The hike down is a bit steep and slippery but there are ropes to help. Tip: Bring gloves! After reaching the bottom, just follow the stream to the beautiful waterfall. We had a picnic there and it was so chill. There are no trash cans here,please take your trash with you. I felt like being at a childhood summer camp with the hiking and climbing. The water was too cold to swim this time, but I'll definitely be back during the summer!

There are bathrooms near the parking areas - gotta look for the signs. Walking trails, and the general area was well maintained. I enjoy reading the history of places I visit and liked how they strategically placed informative placards and maps all over. We came when there was an event ( think it was a race) concluding and the area was packed with cars and people of all walks of life. We checked out the South falls cafe but the lines were long in there and we didn't want to wait. The coffee smell in there was as great! The trails to the South falls were well maintained but wet and muddy at start going down. There were a lot of people doing the hike and we were the slow ones and had to let speedy folks pass by. The views were amazing, especially with the fall colors. There are areas close and behind the south falls that you gotta watch your head. Easy to bump your head on those low hanging rocks! There are also many places to take epic pictures and videos of the South falls. The sound of the waterfall is amazing! We did the quick loop around the south waterfall and headed to the souvenir shop before we left. The older folks in our party were worn out with the climb. Next time I'll come back (minus slowpokes) and do the other falls and the longer trails. Really enjoyed my visit and looking forward to the next time.

We've been here several times and are never disappointed. It's easy to get to and an enjoyable break from life. And when the weather is great, this is a wonderful place to hike around. You can go under the falls, below the falls, behind the falls, or around the falls. There are also a number of hiking trails that will keep you occupied for hours. The weather was perfect for our little trek, and the beautiful scenery and atmosphere were stunning. On the more beautiful days, parking can be a little bit of a challenge, but just be patient, keep your eyes open, and you'll be rewarded with a fun day for all.

Luck we made it before they hit maximum. Three miles and a half makes for a long hike but well worth it. The trail follows the creek and is actually the service road for Jawbone Flats. It's an easy hike up and down both ways. You are rewarded with beautiful cool dip in the crystal clear pools. Alternatively there are two hiking trails, one on each side of the creek, you can venture on through this beautiful forest. Afterward we went to the local restaurant at the highway. They had good food and beer.

We arrived to a very busy and almost full parking lot, making us think the trails were going to be incredibly busy. Luckily, most were just using the picnic tables and walking to some falls that are close to the parking area. We grabbed our water and started on the trails. The trails are well-groomed and easy to walk on. One of the great parts is there are trails for easy-walking, and others that will challenge your legs! If you want to hike to the top of the triple falls, you will get a nice view from above. We kept hiking and ended up on the loop back to the parking area. I believe there are a couple more falls we may have missed, but we would have needed more water for sure. If you want a place to take a nice hike for the day, add this one to your list.

I can imagine star gazing is also quite lovely from this vantage point. I will be going back. We didn't prepare adequately for the wind we would encounter and wow was it chilly!! Check the weather specific to the location before you head up so you can be warm enough. I'm especially taken by the beauty Oregon offers us, and how you can be SO close to Portland, yet feel immersed in Nature. From this view you can see I-5 and the busyness of life, but you also have beautiful views of Lake Oswego (not the lake itself but the city.) I highly recommend this for the romantic and sunset enthusiast.

Beautiful park with tree covered trails and wide paths…read more We did the woodland trail then continued up Timber Road and onto the Chehalem Ridge trail. Path was mostly flat with slight inclines here and there until you got to Timber Road, this was really the only tougher incline, mostly because it was out in the direct sun. The scenery was beautiful forrest and ferns, with a couple viewpoints out to the hills in the distance. Directional signage on the trials was pretty good, didn't notice any maps aside from the one at the entrance, but at least you could see when trail intersected and which way to go for each. We came on a Friday afternoon, the parking was plentiful and we almost had the trial to ourselves. There are two covered picnic areas at the trailhead, both had a handful of picnic tables and benches. Beware - we were chased off by yellow jackets while trying to enjoy our lunch. We were there on a pretty warm day, so they seemed to be extra active. Restrooms at the trailhead were spacious and clean.

This short, easy hike through a classic second-growth forest ends in a spectacular 125-foot waterfall and crystal-clear plunge pool that is shallow enough for wading in the summer. A road track and the unmarked Ogle Mountain trail both head off to the right; keep to the left to reach the falls. To the right of the falls, the Silver King Mine adit is now covered by a bat gate. The shaft continues 1,700 feet into the bedrock. The concrete foundation obstructing the trail at the falls once held the mine's flume-powered generator.

There's some interesting native plants and the rock is impressive. Deposited by glacial floods when the big ice dam broke.
