Lots of ducks, geese and a crane live there and it you're lucky you'll see a few otters. The trail has 2 benches and there's 2 fishing docks available. One of the docks has a safety fence around it. There's also a climbing wall, zip line kinda thing, and a really big sand lot with a volcano-kinda thing in the middle that is deceptively difficult to walk up because the sand makes it slippery! PLUS there's a splash pad water fountain wet area! That part is not open year round. I mean it's open, but the fountains aren't running in the winter. All this is surrounded by covered picnic tables, very large grassy areas, walking paths covered by trees. Car parking. Bicycle parking. Clean bathrooms. Friendly clientele. We entered from the east side of the park where there is pedestrian access. On the west side of the park near the vehicle entrance, there is a skate park! And 4 half basketball courts, plus a boulder, I guess for bouldering.

There is a nice playground for kids and in the ramada, some information about the ducks you can see on the lake. Some of the ducks were close to shore so we were able to see them up close. It was a nice spot to stop and with good information.

A little disappointed but you can't stop Mother Nature. The trees and bush have block the view entirely. The stream that runs along the path you can see in spots. The road up is narrow and lots of pot holes. If the hike was 2 miles or so I would do but not 1/4 mile. Maybe next time

So, right before the parking lot, we took a wrong turn at the fork (do NOT go left- follow the…read moresigns for 'Oregon State Park' ). After about 3min of rough going, we figured out that no tire tracks mean we took the wrong fork in the road. FYI- there's no internet when you get off the main road. When we got to the right place, parking was super easy, and even though it was rainy and soggy and no one was around, we took all our stuff out of the car anyway. There were reports that people's cars were broken into, so yeah- took everything. The water fall is like, an easy 1/4 mile up through some lush greenery. The path is, maybe kinda paved, but not smooth. Incline is rather minimal. The waterfall at the end is pretty cool. Not loads of water, but you're really close to the river the whole way up. It was a relaxing walk, and entirely pretty and pleasant. It's worth a look if you have an extra 30-45min., maybe if you're going out to the Tillamook creamery or just headed up or down the coast.

Some info but not enough about the local Native Americans. Except for one building that has been moved from it's historic location, none of the original structures still exist. So bring your imagination when you visit.

This a nice little park very near the intersection of Highways 18 and 22. Usually we take 18 when…read moreheading to Lincoln City but decided to take an alternative route this time, and came across this park. What is interesting is that along the drive, there is also a Native American Powwow grounds along with a longhouse constructed in a similar fashion to what existed hundreds of years ago. It is worth stopping at along the way to the state park itself. We mainly stopped here to use the restroom and let our puppy out for a walk, and were pleasantly surprised by how peaceful this spot was. There was only one other car in the parking lot, and a few people just stopping to use the restroom just like us. Not much remains of this site, but several markers and archaeological digs show where buildings and sites used to be. When times are more functional (i.e. not Covid) I hear that there are events and tours of one of the buildings that actually remains and hosts a museum; unfortunately it was closed when we were there. A good road-trip stop worth going out of the way for if you are driving to the coast and want an alternative route to the often-congested Highway 18.
