Drift Creek Fall And Bridge

Drift Creek Falls: The Hike Is Beautiful, but the Road Is Trying to Kill You…read more Getting to Drift Creek Falls and its famous suspension bridge is no small feat. I call the road The Back of the Dragon because it twists, turns, zigzags, and tosses you around like a ping-pong ball in a washing machine. Honestly, take a motion sickness pill before you go. By the time you reach the trailhead, you may have already completed your first adventure without ever leaving the vehicle. Eventually, after what feels like several hours of negotiating with Mother Nature's back roads, you arrive at a cute little trailhead and begin your journey through the lush Oregon Coast forest. The trail is well maintained, but expect muddy, wet, earthy conditions and plenty of switchbacks as you wind your way down through the mountains. Then, suddenly, the forest opens up, and there it is! The suspension bridge stretches across a mighty gorge, seemingly floating above the wilderness. Below, Drift Creek Falls plunges dramatically down the rocky cliffs, sending water cascading hundreds of feet into the ravine. The roar of the waterfall echoes through the trees while the cool coastal breeze slips through the forest and across the bridge. You can smell the fresh earth, feel the mist in the air, and hear the rushing water all around you. It's wild, peaceful, and absolutely breathtaking. Standing on that bridge, surrounded by towering trees and rugged canyon walls, makes every twist and turn of that ridiculous road worthwhile. Just remember, the bridge moves a little, the trail gets muddy, and your legs might have some opinions on the way back up. And that road home? Well, let's just say you'll have plenty of time to reconsider every life decision that brought you there. Five stars for the scenery, the waterfall, and the adventure. Drift Creek Falls is a beautiful slice of Oregon wilderness, but the road deserves its own warning label and possibly a theme park ride operator. Come for the waterfall, cross the bridge, breathe in that fresh forest air, and enjoy the magic. Just don't eat a huge breakfast before driving The Back of the Dragon. Your stomach deserves a fighting chance!

Great hike that's only about 3 miles round trip. Includes a suspension bridge and little waterfall…read moreat the end. It's easy enough to do with kids about 5 years of age. Going back to the car afterwards is a bit more challenging though because elevation. At the end, you can climb down to get closer, but it's a bit too technical for the kids. The drive there is interesting with lots of windy roads. Make sure you route your trip on GPS there and back while you have signal. I lost all signal up there.

First time here - Fall 2026. $10 all day parking charge, plenty of parking spaces. There are bathrooms near the parking areas - gotta look for the signs. Walking trails, and the general area was well maintained. I enjoy reading the history of places I visit and liked how they strategically placed informative placards and maps all over. We came when there was an event ( think it was a race) concluding and the area was packed with cars and people of all walks of life. We checked out the South falls cafe but the lines were long in there and we didn't want to wait. The coffee smell in there was as great! The trails to the South falls were well maintained but wet and muddy at start going down. There were a lot of people doing the hike and we were the slow ones and had to let speedy folks pass by. The views were amazing, especially with the fall colors. There are areas close and behind the south falls that you gotta watch your head. Easy to bump your head on those low hanging rocks! There are also many places to take epic pictures and videos of the South falls. The sound of the waterfall is amazing! We did the quick loop around the south waterfall and headed to the souvenir shop before we left. The older folks in our party were worn out with the climb. Next time I'll come back (minus slowpokes) and do the other falls and the longer trails. Really enjoyed my visit and looking forward to the next time.

If you're looking for a simple, fun, outdoor place to take the family or a group of friends, look…read moreno further. Silver Falls is the place to be. We've been here several times and are never disappointed. It's easy to get to and an enjoyable break from life. And when the weather is great, this is a wonderful place to hike around. You can go under the falls, below the falls, behind the falls, or around the falls. There are also a number of hiking trails that will keep you occupied for hours. The weather was perfect for our little trek, and the beautiful scenery and atmosphere were stunning. On the more beautiful days, parking can be a little bit of a challenge, but just be patient, keep your eyes open, and you'll be rewarded with a fun day for all.
