Gorgeous and short hike. The hike isn't hard. Kids can do it. It's beautiful and you go over a suspension bridge at the end and see the falls.

Always a great hike...and the bridge and falls never disappoint. But be ready to traverse many a downed tree right now along the trail. Still a worthwhile adventure!

    We are here 10-25-21

10-25-2021 one of the reasons I wanted to make this spur of the moment trip to Oregon was to see a covered bridge. Researched and this was the closest one about a mile away from our destination, Lincoln City. Although we were coming at a bad time weather wise, the news reported a gale storm with coastal flooding and gusts 65-100 mph. I called the hotel manager about 6 a.m to check on the situation. She said it had calmed down quite a bit. Hubs was the driver and game. With the help of Yelp directions we found this place. It was cold in the 50s and rainy to boot. But she was still standing and a sight to behold. If not for the weather I would have wanted to walk through and take some photos closer up. I had read hikers come and there is a waterfall.

AWESOME suspension bridge to admire the BEAUTIFUL Drift Creek Falls with blue waters . This 3 mile trail was closed a couple of weeks in December and January but open now and remember to bring $5 USD in cash to buy your daily recreational pass. Getting there, according to Google and Apple Maps , FASTEST access from PDX metro is from Hwy 18 through 4.7 miles of unpaved Forest Service Road 17. It's a bit NARROW and 1 way only on some spots, an AWD vehicle is best. Also, there is NO CELL PHONE coverage from that point on if you're using AT&T or T-Mobile. There were 72 cars parked and the PARKING LOT has 35 parking spots , so it was a bit crowded due to the awesome low 50s °F weather. Both BATHROOMS were as clean as expected in this remote location. The pandemic has made us acutely aware of distance and masks, and ANTI-MASKERS. About 20% of the visitors didn't wear a mask and it was a bit tense to keep a distance from them at all times. There is a GORGEOUS forest that seems to have been inundated in moss, as if it was out of a bed time story. Have fun if you go, and please wear your mask.

What a wonderful hike! I went on a solo trek to the falls on a misty morning. My GPS said it was 8 miles away from my condo so I assumed it would be a quick drive. Wrong. The distance was short but because the road to get there was quite winding, a person really could only drive 20-39 mph. That is not said to dissuade anyone from taking the trip to the falls. Just a heads up. Drift Creek itself was wonderful. There were restrooms at the trailhead. Be aware, you need to purchase your pass online ahead of time because there is no cell service there. Also, the machine where you can pay for admittance is out of order. I had previously purchased a $35 Pacific Coast passport car tag which is good for a year of entrance to 16 Pacific Coast state and federal fee areas ( photo included). The trail is 1.5 miles to the fall and 1.5 miles back. To get to the falls, the walk seemed easy and mostly downhill. That worried me because I was thinking the return trip would be a beast. It was not, however, because there was a lot of flat walking to rest between climbing. I only had to stop to rest twice on the way back. There were beautiful sights and sounds throughout the hike. The suspension bridge was awesome and also very stable. It did not sway as many bridges do. The fall itself was picturesque and calming.

Amazing suspension bridge and falls! The one way road is 7 miles from hwy 18 and there are fallen trees cut on either side. $5 day pass or NW Forest pass needed at trailhead. Lots of parking and pit toilets at the trailhead. Well graded trail. At some points you'll either climb over or under fallen trees. Prepare to get muddy but have fun! After you cross the impressive suspension bridge, keep going straight for another .25 miles down another switchback to the bottom of the falls where there is a little beach and a great rock area for photos.

Beautiful hike we did early morning following breakfast. I really loved Lincoln City area for the beaches (without tons of people), but I wanted to get off the pavement for awhile. There was not a lot of people here, but it was late October so I don't know if that made a difference. I could see it being easily crowded in the height of summer. We ran into a few couples who were out to also enjoy the morning :) it is a $5 fee to go here. They offer bathrooms in the parking lot as well. The trail is around 3mi out and back and does not loop. It is a slow grade going down on your way out so it's all uphill on your way back ;) Oregon has a beautiful forest and we truly enjoyed taking in the morning sun and being surrounded by the beauty. It's definitely different from my Alaskan forests I call home. This is a well groomed trail. Would be great for families, couples or even a solo trek. There is a "table" made out of logs by the falls you could stop to have a snack at if you wish. The suspension bridge had my nerves going crazy as I'm terrified of heights, but I did it! It is very well built and a safe structure.

I loved this hike and the suspension bridges. We got there early, I highly recommend this as the parking lot definitely fills up. We got there around 9am. I think it was a couple miles, easy hike. We hiked with our dogs and in the morning it wasn't packed going down but got busier as we came back up. Pretty flat easy trail, some hills but not a hard trial with a ton of uneven places. The suspension bridge was a little weird feeling and scary to my, but I have a brain injury and am scared of nights and the feeling it gave me but it was still great and I'm so glad we did it and went early. There's a great little covered bridge on the way up that we took a picture out just cause it was cool. This hike could totally be done with kids. My husband doesn't think you could push a wheelchair up it as it goes up and down a bit. We just used google maps to get there and found it no problem and also looked at this website https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/siuslaw/recarea/?recid=42681

This place was amazing. Our family of teens and one 5 year old loved it. The 5 year old got a little tired and we heard a little whining but she was able to pull it off on her own. Pretty easy hike, if you are in any kind of decent shape, it will be a breeze. Gorgeous trails, very well maintained. A little muddy in places (we went in April), so you might want to wear shoes you don't mind getting dirty. The falls were gorgeous and the bridge was amazing - totally worth the short hike. There are serious bees on the trail (even in April) they followed us for most of the way so if you are allergic bring your epi pen just in case. The road to the site is winding and curvy, one of my kids thought she was going to puke due to car sickness. It is a little sketchy in some parts since it is one lane and cars can come quickly around the corners. Pave all the way and decent otherwise. 5.00 to purchase pass (bring exact change - no machine for debit cards). Wonderful little hike, glad we did it!

This is one of my very favorite hikes in Oregon and here's why: 1. It's on the coast, just inland from Lincoln City with tight, winding roads to get there, flanked by spectacular forest views. 2. It's a pretty easy trail. I think 2.5 miles in, 2.5 miles out, slightly up hill. There are several bridges with streams and small waterfalls and lots of moss..by god, the lovely moss that lives here. 3. The spectacular suspension bridge over the gorge - so amazing. 4. The falls, plummeting over splayed basalt columns and crashing relentlessly onto the rocks below. And you can hike down to the foot of the river for a completely different view than the one from on the suspension bridge. 5. This trail is well maintained. 6. It has a small parking lot - sure in the summer this is probably a pain, but it keeps visitors down a bit, I'm guessing and that's ultimately a good thing. I hadn't been back to this place in 10 years and it was like little had changed. I love that, and I will hopefully be back before another 10 years has passed!

Great easy hike... Pretty flat, go to the bottom on the trail to the bottom of the falls!!!

Awesome easy short hike. Well maintained trails. Waterfall is beautiful. Great trail to bring dogs.

This is an absolutely gorgeous hike with the reward of a suspension bridge and waterfall at the end. Bring water... you'll need it in the summer with our muggy weather. We didn't bring enough, and there are no water fountains. At the beginning of our adventure we had a view of the drift Creek Covered Bridge. The bridge was built in 1914 and looks as sturdy as ever, even though it was built over a century ago.

Amazing suspension bridge and beautiful waterfall.

Loved this hike! The road to get there is long 15 miles of narrow well paved roads, but the hike is well worth it. The views were amazing.

Great trail...loads to see and a real workout in the process…read more We arrived at the trailhead at 8am to be the first in the lot on a Saturday. By the time we returned the lot was full. There's a decent amount of parking...spots for cars, RVs, and trucks with boat trailers. The pre-trail wanders in and out of the trees and road for a bit, but they have great signage to lead you to the actual head. The trail is great, as you get a smidge of everything you could ask for along the way...some shaded forest, wildlife, wildflowers, stunning coastal views, and a pretty butt-kicking workout to the top viewpoint. Keep in mind, we aren't young, and neither are our hips and knees. There are a good number of high clearance steps to climb that weren't the easiest for a gal with short legs and bad hips. Not to mention that the trail is pretty steep as you zig-zag your way up the non-shaded knoll to the second viewpoint at the top of the lower trail (where it meets the upper). The trail is narrow most of the way, especially on that hillside as you push your way through the tall grasses and flowers. You definitely need to watch your step constantly going up and down, as there are hidden steps, rocks, and uneven surfaces beneath the grasses. We almost ended our trip at the lower viewpoint, but after a bit of contemplation decided to push through and up the hillside to the top. I'm super glad we made the choice, but we definitely felt it! So much to see along the way. We got to watch the elk herd as it grazed the knoll at the first opening, so beautiful. Halfway down the hill from the top a fast moving fog bank came off the coast right at us, engulfing us and removing everything from sight for a minute, while providing us with much appreciated and FABulous cold air... a very cool experience for sure. I highly recommend this trail. Go early if you go on the weekend. And if you're now young ONLY at heart, be prepared for a decent workout if you plan to go to the top...but do it, it's worth it. :)

The weather was perfect for hiking this trail; however I would describe it as moderate-to-hard type of trail (depending on your fitness level), with some spots being flat and then immediately turning uphill or downhill. The only facility that they have available is one port-a-potty next to the street. There is no parking lot either, so you will have to park on the street. We parked a little further back from the trail because it was a little busy. I think we walked about halfway through the trail before my boyfriend decided that he wanted to head back down. To him, he thought it was a little too hard and wanted me to choose an easier trail than this to hike next time. Despite stopping halfway through. I really liked the whole entire scenery and hearing the waves crash from the beach nearby while hiking. It's also important to know that some parts of the trail are on private property. One thing that needs to be improved, however, is graffiti cleanup. The sign describing the knoll trail needs to be replaced, as this itself is covered in graffiti. Also coming out from the trail, I noticed that someone wrote 'help me' on one of the rocks, which had a handprint included. Great trailhead overall. I think we needed to be a little more prepared for it, though.
