I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before using Darrell's Auto Electric for anything beyond the simplest repairs. They kept my Jeep for over 6 months chasing a problem that turned out not to be the issue at all. During that time, they insisted I needed a part that would have cost me $1,300+ for a used part with little to no warranty. Only after I refused to pay that, & wait on the new part with a warranty, did they suddenly "re-evaluate" and admit--that wasn't even the problem. Meanwhile, I was still charged $2,793.33 along the way, including for a new battery--which, let's be honest, probably went bad because my vehicle sat untouched on their lot for half a year waiting on a part it never needed in the first place. I had to take it back 3 days after picking it up and they kept it another almost 2 months. What's even more frustrating is that I felt like I was expected to diagnose the issue myself. Isn't that the mechanic's job? Instead of providing answers, there was constant guesswork and shifting explanations. Ricky even admitted he was aware how long I waited for a part it didn't need and apologized, which I appreciate--but that doesn't undo six months of wasted time, unnecessary costs, and zero resolution. To make matters worse, I finally took it somewhere else--a simple mechanic--and within a week and $310.50, the problem was correctly diagnosed and fixed.The issue? A throttle body and recoding it. That's it. Not the laundry list of problems Darrell's tried to sell me on. Bottom line: If you value your time, your money, and actual competent diagnostics--take your vehicle somewhere else. read more

1 week for a rear bearing, I was told different lies everyday as to why it wasn't ready, parts broke, didn't show up etc., then they had to cut pieces out and replace so the price went from $800 to $1100. For comparison, The gentlemen in the you tube video of the work didn't have cut anything out. I get that it was a big job but this is reduclulous. To add insult to injury there was a 3% credit card fee on top of it all. It doesn't take $40 to run a credit card. What a joke, won't go back, ever. read more

my son was told to bring his car in on Wednesday January 10, 2024, he only has one vehicle, so I had to pick him up and take him to work. He never heard from them, no call, no time to pick up, nothing !!! His car was left out in the elements with temperatures under 32 degrees. His car has always been garage kept. He called Friday and was told they might get to it in a day or two. I took him Wednesday January 17, 2024 to pick up his car. Never had been touched!!!!! If i could zero stars i would.. daryl's replaced our alternator in 2015 with what we thought was a new one. Alternator went out in 2018, called the shop explained the situation. I was told out of warranty, which is fine, but was so rude. I asked was this a new part. I was cut off mid sentence because "all parts replaced are oem and new" i purchased a brand new alternator and had it put in by a friend. Anddd.. wouldn't ya know, bad alternator has a sticker on it with "remanufactured" on it. So To make a long story short, Daryl's is selling remanufactured parts to unsuspecting customers as BrAND NEW! These people are incredible. Brought in my son's 12 year old Chevrolet, they told me that it was time to get another car for him. That to fix the multitude of things that were wrong with the car the repair price would be in the thousands. Who does that? Honest, true blue people who really care. And they have been in business over 30 years. They were recommended to me by Tire Depot on Old Fannin. As good as it gets. I wouldn't even give this business one star. They overcharge for their services and have terrible customer service. First they put a battery in our car which I thought was a high price at the time, but didn't say anything that time. Then we brought our car back up there for a transmission problem and the fee to replace the transmission seemed very high to us with no warranty. So, we checked around at other places and found a place that was charging half the price with a year warranty. So, the transmission place that was going to do the work was going to tow our car for free to his shop. Darrell's Auto was very unprofessional and rude about us taking our car somewhere else and tried to charge us $45 for looking at our car. Which they did not tell us when we dropped the car off to them. I wasn't going to leave a bad review after that, but now our battery only lasted 10 1/2 months, and they replaced the battery and charged us $45 to put the new one in. That is poor customer service and you should stand behind your work. I told them that wasn't fair and Ricky told me "life isn't fair". He said he doesn't need our business. They aren't honest people and they overcharge. Just don't want anybody else to get ripped off by them. read more
