Valvoline Instant Oil Change

Valvoline Instant Oil Change

The first tech handed me off after explained what I was in for. Then the second and third tech seemed very confused, and basically said they could not process my service. I ended up leaving without the oil change, because it was going to be $160 out of pocket when my "appointment" said I would only be charged $70.

Permanent Damage Caused by Incompetence…read more Valvoline drained our transmission fluid instead of the oil, doubled the oil in the engine, and caused significant damage. Local management failed to follow through, and now we're stuck with the bill. Take your car somewhere else. Seriously. Just take a look at the other negative reviews. You'll see this isn't the first or last time that they have caused damage to someone's car and then the area manager avoided the customer. I don't blame the manager, any explanation they provide is total BS. Full Story: On July 26, 2024, my wife took our Audi Q7 to Valvoline Instant Oil Change before a trip. We usually go to another shop but decided on Valvoline because of timing. We've been vigilant with maintenance since we had the engine replaced last year due to an internal failure. The oil change was quick, but within minutes of leaving, the car stalled. The dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. I arrived, and after a quick look, it became clear--they drained the transmission fluid instead of the oil, leaving zero transmission fluid and double the recommended oil in the engine. Valvoline admitted their mistake and asked to keep the vehicle overnight to "correct" it. We had no choice but to leave it. When we picked it up, they promised to file a claim and cover the costs, but we heard nothing the next week. When I reached out, I learned that local management never submitted the claim, essentially trying to sweep it under the rug. Thankfully, I had taken a picture of their handwritten claim form. After I sent it to customer care, they admitted the failure, issued a case number, and gave us a portal for future expenses. We noticed that the vehicle was a driving rougher than before and was jerky when it shifted, but towards the end of September the jerking because much more prominent, so we took it to our regular shop, where they replaced the fluids again but warned us that internal damage could exist. We informed Valvoline and were reimbursed for this service. In the late November, less than 3,000 miles later, the low oil light came on. No external leaks were found. The shop replaced the oil and told us to keep an eye on it. In March, the low oil light came on again, 2,000 miles since our last oil changed. The shop explained that the double oil exposure had likely damaged the engine, causing it to consume oil rapidly. Their advice? Replace the engine (a $25,000 fix) or get rid of the vehicle--both unacceptable options since Valvoline caused this damage. Lets be logical here, If we were trying to get over on Valvoline we would have claimed the engine was damaged much sooner. We submitted another claim in March, but after a month with no response, I followed up. They claimed the matter was under review, but three more weeks passed with silence. When I pressed again, I received this response: "Thank you for contacting Valvoline Customer Care. After reviewing the ticket notes it states that management denied the claim and closed it out. They stated that the Area Manager had communicated this to you. We would be happy to have our management team contact you and go over the details of the denial. We apologize this was not communicated to you in a more clear manner. Please let us know if we can be of further assistance. " Except no one ever contacted us. They lied. They damaged our vehicle and then lied to avoid accountability. I responded to their email and made them aware that I had not heard from anyone, and as of today. I still haven't. So now we're stuck with a damaged vehicle and no resolution. What should have been a quick oil change turned into a nightmare for my wife and our four kids, who depend on this vehicle for school, activities, and daily life. And Valvoline is trying to walk away without taking responsibility. We are exploring next steps for getting this remedied, but sadly appears it won't be with us working directly with Valvoline to resolve. If you value your vehicle and your peace of mind, take your car somewhere else.
