I can't say much as there was no indication the venue was closed for what seemed to be a private event-- took the elevator up and got off to a bunch of people running around, setting up, no signage, and not saying a thing. Took a walk over to the terrace and the view is absolutely stunning. Lobby people are pretty pretentious but the girls at the top were a lot nicer. We checked in and were seated to a VIP seat overlooking all of Central Park. It was spectacular... the chairs are heavy ass metal patio furniture so it's a bitch to move them in or get out as a small lady. Darling has such an incredible rooftop view of Central Park and the NYC skyline - it's an absolute must! The lounge at night has a DJ and the vibe is more like a night club (but smaller and more intimate). In the morning, the complimentary buffet breakfast is served for hotel guests and it's a calm, peaceful setting. We shared mimosas, fresh fruit and other breakfast essentials with a gorgeous view overlooking the city. One of our best hotel experiences and absolutely worth it! read more

The drinks look great, too bad I never got to taste a single one. The service is hysterically bad, probably the worst I've encountered, maybe ever. I work right next door and came here for drinks with my husband and in-laws. Nobody was at the host stand, after waiting nearly 10 minutes with another party, we walked in and was immediately met with a disgruntled employee who asked if we have a reservation. He reluctantly sat us at a table, dropped the menus, and were never seen or heard from again. More than 20 minutes go by, nobody came so we tried to order drinks at the bar and were told by the bartender he doesn't take orders, only servers do (but where tf are they?!). We were on vacation excited to see a view of Central Park at a cute bar. We had a reservation for the rooftop and they sat us in the back corner at a cloudy window we could barely see out of. On top of that, it took 20 minutes to get our drinks to us. During this wait, I walked around the corner to the clear windows so I could see the beautiful view and take literally one picture. I immediately got yelled at for being "too close to the window and disturbing guests during dinner" ....i took one photo and there weren't guests within 5 feet of me on either side.This place was very disappointing. I guess you can't be a "tourist" here and expect to take one photo or even see the view let alone expect good service. At least I got the sub par photo. read more

I met a friend there for dinner recently and, based on several reviews here, came prepared for the worst (I had a bite to eat beforehand, just in case). The experience I had there was terrific. The views were incredible. The music was not nearly as intrusive as I anticipated; in fact, it was ambient because I could actually conversate. The only snafu was the fryer wasn't ready to prepare our orders right away, so we had to order a delicious charcuterie board in the meantime (clever upsell). Our server was the picture of patience as we remained undecided each time she returned for our order (actually, we were catching up and forgot to look at the menu), and she gave us great advice on what to order along the way; I enjoyed everything we ate. (This probably means less than zero to most people, but I noticed that the staffers were all quite photogenic like they were the cast of a show. Just an interesting observation.) My experience, from sitting in the hotel lobby to the extra time they gave us to dine and gab, was great. I enjoyed myself, and I plan to visit again in the future. read more

If you are coming here in the evening for the view you will have to book a full table. They close off the area facing the central park with ropes and despite requesting several times wont allow us to get a photo there. The views posted online are misleading since its tough to get close to the area where you can get actually see the view. The view of central park is great, wish they would make space for all customers to have access to it. $25 drinks are too expensive to stand at the bar. read more

Solid spot for a rooftop drink, 47 floors up! Definitely recommend a Resy reservation. The hostess said our table "might not be ready" and yet there were at least 4-5 tables open where we were seated. Odd, and she was a bit unfriendly when we arrived. Otherwise, our waitress was super friendly and I appreciated that. Also odd it took a bit of time before we were served water that I also had to ask for but it's ok. My boyfriend and I got the New Wave Paloma which was very refreshing. Due to the unfortunate and disgraceful termination of all employees at Darling and Rose Lane, both bars are closed for the foreseeable future. After a number of employees filed a union petition for better pay, benefits and job security, they were abruptly let go. What makes this even more appalling is that even those not involved with the petition were also terminated. The Park Lane fired their entire bar staff without any warning, forcing the closure of both bars. It's unclear whether they plan on re-opening either bar at some point. For a hotel that charges upwards of $1,000 a night for rooms, even more for suites, and offers all night caviar service, to fire their entire bar staff without any explanation or compensation is unacceptable. As a longtime guest of the hotel, I often frequented both bars and I've always appreciated the unparalleled service offered by the staff at Rose Lane and Darling, but after hearing this, they can rest assured they've lost my business. I refuse to support a hotel that treats its employees so horribly, and I suspect I'm not the first or last to turn their back on the Park Lane. Shame on them! read more

Went here strictly for the view and got what we came for! Only ordered drinks so cant comment on the food but they were good (overpriced) but that's NYC and a rooftop. In my opinion worth it to see Central Park but if it was anywhere else id say pick somewhere else. 4 drinks cost $155 (keep in mind tip included at 18%) (3 house margs and a glass of Veuve) Definitely more on the girly side but my boyfriend and I enjoyed it either way. You have to take a elevator up to the 46th floor of the Park Lane hotel then walk up stairs to the 47th floor. I think it would be super cute for a girls dinner, night out, etc. Fun to visit! read more

I want to stress that the ONLY reason for this review is the absolutely horrible treatment we received from the hostess. She was extremely rude, sarcastic, and condescending. She refused to let us go up, at 12am even though the place closes at 1am. and I feel that she did this based on how my group looked. She eventually left the hostess stand and the bouncer who was so nice let us up. The wait staff was amazing and friendly, but then the hostess saw that we were being seated and spoke so rudely to our waitress and kept giving us nasty looks. She needs to be fired!!!!!!! Yummehhhhhh!!! We sat for dinner and loved the ambiance of the place. From the moment you enter the Park Lane Hotel, til you get to the rooftop, the vibe is on 100!! Now for the food ... the caviar was everything I could've wanted and more. Tuna tartare was a larger portion than expected but good nonetheless. The wagyu came as a sandwich. Not very good at all. It was thick, fatty, and rubbery. Hard to bite into, hard to chew, and hard to swallow. Safe to say we cut our losses with that one. In the trash it went. Drinks were A+++. We truly had a blast. It seems staff is still working out some kinks with service, but it's such a cool location for drinks with friends or a romantic date!! Overall solid experience at Darling. 47 floors up above central park it's a cute a place. The windows looked a lil flimsy/cheapy so it distorted the view a little bit. Our service was pretty good and the cocktails were delicious. Music was mediocre but had a good time all-in. They recommend reservations but there were a lot of empty tables from 9-11pm. I made a reservation for 2 in hopes to get the seats closest to the view which I didn't which is fine I asked if I could to which the waitress said I couldn't as the table was for bigger parties which I can understand but not even two minutes later another couple mind you a party of 2 we're seated at this table. By the same waitress, I don't have a problem if maybe they paid but to tell me it's for a bigger party and then seat someone with the same amount in their party and to just brush me off is what bothered me. Everyone got reseated for the view to enjoy but for whatever reason I didn't even get the option. Then I went to go take a video of the view to which a security guard came to me and told me I couldn't? But then there were crowds of people taking photos at the edge including a man with a selfie stick swinging his selfie stick in peoples faces and the security guard just stared at him... the view was amazing but the service was awful especially for young people! If you come here do not let the employees undermine you because they think you won't spend as much money as older folks it does not give employees a right to treat you poorly. Also keep in mind the couple who got sat didn't get anything but one drink while I ordered food and drinks. But of course I get the poor service because I am younger. read more
