Stopped by this neighborhood gem for lunch on the way back from visiting friends. The place is super cute, nice little outdoor (covered) patio & very welcoming. We were greeted warmly & our food orders were delivered swiftly. Great food, great service, reasonable prices. I would highly recommend this place! A+++

The place is really busy and the service was really slow. Took over 10 mins to even get water out to us. They are incredibly kind though. The parking lot is challenging to get out if you pulled in and it's full. You would have to reverse out onto El Camino. We sat outside and it was freezing cold and the heater was broken. Food was just ok, and it all came out at room temperature. Nothing to rave about.

This review is based on take out. Ordering online is easy. They have both indoor and outdoor dining. The patio is very nice. Pick up was smooth and quick if you ordered in a timely manner on your commute. The restaurant has a small parking lot otherwise it's street parking. Thai Samosa had a very nice curry, flavored potato filling. The fresh vegetable spring roll was accompanied with a nice peanut dipping sauce that was a good size portion. The Pad Thai was as expected in flavor and overall delicious. Overall, a very delicious Thai meal.

Friends of ours introduced us to Dara Thai and it's quickly become our favorite Thai restaurant on the peninsula. We've eaten here twice and every dish we ordered was amazing. The appetizers, entrees, and drinks are all worth it imo. A few of our favorites so far: Bbq chicken fried rice with fried egg added on Rad Na with chicken Yellow curry with chicken Roti with yellow curry Sticky rice with mango Lychee iced tea Thai iced coffee Pros: Amazing Thai food, comfortable relaxing space with indoor and outdoor seating, friendly service, a family run establishment. Cons: So many delicious things to order, it's hard to decide, but that's a good thing!

Searching Yelp, we found this restaurant that opened in Belmont about 7 weeks ago and wanted to try it out. It was a nice find. We like eating healthy foods. At Dara Thai, we found four salad options: Papaya Salad, Larb, Yum Beef and Yum Seafood. We tried the papaya salad and the larb, with chicken and ordered a Thai BBQ Chicken as a separate protein dish. We were happy with all items. The chicken used in the larb salad was ground chicken, so it was a different style than the barbecue chicken. The barbeque chicken is cooked with the skin on. We found this dish to be a little bit oily. We would recommend that they offer an option to have it cooked skinless for those people who want a healthier version. We'll suggest that next time we're there. The server was really nice. We sat down and were greeted promptly. After ordering, our food was served quickly. There is ample street parking at this restaurant. We like small neighborhood restaurants and plan to go back.

This is their soft opening: - neighborhood restaurant with casual dining ambiance - friendly service, family run is always a plus - overall the dishes were delicious. We asked for medium spicy on all the dishes and felt they were more on the mild side - total for 2 with 3 dishes and a drink came to $75 tip not included

Down to earth home style Thai cooking with a playful twist. Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Thai flavor was definitely there; however, dishes were very under seasoned to my taste. The good; the fried tofu was crispy and was well complemented by the sweet and sour chili sauce, the shrimp, fish, and squid in the Pra Ram were fresh, tender and not overcooked, Pad Thai noodles were cooked al dente, loved the Papaya salad in the Trout Delight which compensated for the lacking saltiness in the fried trout. Thinking of going back to check them out and see if things have changed.

veggies (minus eggplant) - which they fixed after photo was taken

Seems like this cozy family-run Thai restaurant recently just opened. There's plenty of outdoor seating (with heaters it seems like!) and indoors, but I think there's still some service kinks to work out. We weren't sure if we were supposed to order at the counter or wait for staff to come to us as there was quite a delay between getting the menu and waiting for someone to check on us. The tables next to us, although unoccupied, still needed to be cleaned off as well. We ordered the sizzling seafood ($25), pad see ew ($19), eggplant ($19). The spice level wasn't super spicy for us (we requested spicy for the seafood dish), and it was more salty than I anticipated. Regardless, flavors were good. The pad see ew was standard, and so was the eggplant. There was a slight mix-up when we only got veggies, and no eggplant, but they quickly remedied the issue. Overall, not a bad start but I think they might need to have more staff. They were quite busy on a late weekend afternoon for lunch, so definitely lots of potential! I also love it when restaurants that have a sink OUTSIDE of the bathroom (so European) because it means I can wash up without needing to wait in line if I don't need the toilet. I wish more restaurants would adopt that approach!

I would say 3.5/5 m. I'm almost convinced it's the same cooking as before they changed the name tbh. We got take out and had no issues picking up. Plenty of parking. Pad Thai 4/5 This was tasty and had a load of shrimp!! Worth the upgrade. Shrimp was cooked perfectly. Eggplant pork 4/5 Tasty and savory. Eggplant well cooked down and blends well with the bell peppers and meat. Meat was tender and juicy. Pad see ew 3/5 Pad see ew needs that wok hei flavor. It's not flavorful enough so not that tasty. Too much random other stuff in it like carrots. Tom yum 2/5 Too sweet and not enough lemongrass. Just really not that tasty for usual tom yum. For veggie and tofu and it was packed with ingredients though. Chicken satay 4/5 This was grilled well and flavorful. The sauce was tasty and went well with the cucumber salad. Overall I'd come back for the dishes like eggplant or pad thai. Nothing that needs wok hei flavor. Prices were ok.

Belmont needs more great neighborhood spots - Dara Thai has delivered. We look forward to coming back. For just having opened recently, it was packed in a Sunday evening with returning customers showing up. The service was good for the amount of tables they had to handle all at once. Half of the tables are outside so dress for the weather. 5 stars for both the braised beef Penang curry and chicken pad Thai. Great flavors while not being too salty. Bonus for the heart shaped straw in our drinks.

I absolutely LOVED this restaurant. I've been craving Pad Thai and a Thai Tea and saw this place just opened so of course I had to try it immediately. The ambiance is very gentle and welcoming, and the owner Tanya is a sweetheart. We ordered calamari, pad thai, green curry lunch special that came with rice and salad, and my order of Thai tea. It's the small things that they do that make the service spectacular. My straw was heart shaped and our toothpicks came with cute little characters. I encourage everyone to stop by and try this place out! You will leave feeling satisfied and full! Will be back in a heartbeat

Tom yum soup- on sweet side

We walked in around Sunday 7:30pm. There's both outside and inside seating. We chose to sit outside since our friends had their dog. We ordered seafood tom yum soup, Papaya salad, duck curry, spicy fried rice with pork. Everything was good but the tom yum soup was too sweet for our liking. We asked our waitress if it could made less sweet to save it. She said her mom added more sour to it and it helped. Next time will need to ask for no sugar for the soup. Duck and pork were tender. Good flavors without being too salty. The fried rice and curry portion isn't very big though. Service was fast. Private parking lot and 1 restroom inside. Didn't see an alcohol menu so I'm guessing they don't serve alcohol.

The food wasn't bad at all. From the wok, L Kapow I ordered was very salty. The Pad Thai was not too sweet which was good. The green curry has good prices. Overall, we had a good time and the food was good. Service was a bit busy when we showed up yesterday. My friend had to ask twice on where to be seated and to clean up our table. The ambiance the tables were nice and have a cute patio set up to eat outside.

A+ except it did take them a long time to bring the check and we had to flag the guy down to get it. Otherwise attentive and the meal was reasonably well coursed. They let us split dishes and didn't give us a bad time about it. Food... Also an A+. I'm super picky and tend to not like to venture off the beaten path for different kinds of ethnic foods but everything here that we had was delicious. We split the salad with pear and goat cheese, and except for a couple of decayed pieces of spring mix, which is always a problem with that stuff it was delicious. The dressing was crisp and citrusy. We split the jambalaya with chicken and it was interesting in that it was basically a large scoop of rice with a good sized piece of chicken on the side, which you had to cut up, which is not how I've seen jambalaya prepared before, but it worked. The chicken was insanely good, and the rice also was very delicious, heavy on the bell peppers. We also tried the beef empanadas and the chimichurri sauce was insanely good. We wanted to get beignets, but they were out and none of the other desserts appealed to me so we didn't do dessert. We ordered a French 75 cocktail and the Pinot Noir wine and both were very nice )although pro tip French 75 are supposed to have a lemon peel in them and ours didn't). There is a parking lot and they also have a few tables outside although I don't think anybody would really choose to sit there since it's in the middle of the parking lot and the plants are too low to hide that fact. My friend and I meet regularly in the Redwood City area to dine out and this place is going to go into our regular rotation because it was that good. They were probably somewhere between a four and a five but I'm going to give them the benefit of doubt and give them Five Stars because we did enjoy our meal so much. You should try it!

We loved the corn muffins with butter they brought out before the food. I ordered the catfish po' boy and my fiancée ordered the shrimp po' boy. We both liked the shrimp more but both were good overall. I love the sauce they put on and these sandwiches are very filling. I did feel that while the food was delicious, the price is slightly outrageous. I know the economy isn't great right now, but I definitely felt a little crazy spending near $100 on a lunch when we ordered sandwiches and not big entrees.
