Pho Tai Chin Bo Vien Pho with rare steak, brisket, and beef ball 13. Tai Chin Noodle Soup

I want to say they definitely upgraded the flavor of their broth from when I had originally tried it several years ago. I'm glad I gave them a second chance and realize now I almost missed out on some great pho. The broth was super flavorful. Broth Grade: A I ordered the XL size bowl of pho because I felt a bit under the weather and I was really hungry. There was plenty of noodles. I did wish I had more basil for the size of bowl I had. The meats were standard. Grade: B Service was pretty good. I came during a lunch rush. I was lucky in that I got the last table. Many people were grabbing takeout orders due to the time. I expected a lot and I received what I asked for of the staff. Service Grade: A Thai Iced Tea was ok. It was neither horrible nor great. Grade: B Spring Rolls were decent. The rice paper had a good chew. Grade: B+ Extra Info: The place itself is located on the corner of Old County and Holly across from 7-Eleven. The noise level was fine while I was there. Big groups of over 4 might be challenging so I would call. Decor could be updated. I gave this 4 stars, but for the Peninsula, this may be the best broth I've had in the area! It really deserves a 4.5 for the area, but ratings are in whole numbers. Feel free to message me other places in the San Mateo County I should try.

Staff was super attentive, food came out quick and everything was delicious. Wasn't busy when we were there on a Tues evening, but they did lots of to-go orders. Def order the Thai iced tea. Will be back!

Nice little family run Vietnamese restaurant. Family lunch. They were able to sit all 13 of us on a long table. Service was fast. Nice menu, generous portions of noodles. Parking can be limited. Enter from Holly street

Our kids love this place and we enjoy it too; it's one of those regular spots for a quick, delicious meal, especially if it's chilly out. My son gets the chicken pho, my wife and daughter each get a bowl of beef pho, and I'll switch between pho and vermicelli depending on how I'm feeling. We usually also all share an order of spring rolls. It's all tasty and the service is super friendly too. It's fun to watch whatever Vietnamese cooking videos is playing on the TV during a meal. We didn't come much until having a bad bowl of pho at another restaurant (SC Noodle House) and were looking for a nearby option to get that experience out of our heads. Since then this has been in our regular family meal rotation. Note that the parking lot can be a little tight but usually there are spots.

The pho here is sooo freaking good. The broth is rich and flavorful. Noodles are chewy. Meat is tender, I love their brisket and meatballs. The thai tea is also strong and so good with the pho. The fish tank is so iconic and there's a decent amount of seating. Service is amazing. I love the couple that owns it, they're always attentive and nice. Food also comes out within like a minute of ordering. Overall highly reccomend!!

Decent, friendly, prompt service which is nice and the ambiance is homey but could benefit from a deep cleaning Food is generally good. However, for the price it's at, the food drops to mid tier. 3 "regular" bowls of their watery pho + 1 chow mein was $77.60 before tax and tip. The water seems to be unfiltered tap water and is lukewarm. The water kinda smells like fridge water if you know what I mean. Asked to share and this is the spoon I was given and had to ask for a new one. Cleanliness needs a bit of work here.

I would come back if I'm in the area, maybe to try some of the other dumpling flavors.

The broth tasted better, the noodles were higher quality, and the beef was also much more tender and had less gristle. it made me wonder if it was a fluke or if this location was just that much better as this restaurant was also much more crowded versus the other locations. Noodles are hand pulled and made directly in front of you through a glass window where you can view your noodles being made. You can select from a variety of noodle textures and sizes. The noodle dishes are separated between soup and dry noodle versions. For the soups, recommend the Lanzhou hand pulled noodles soup or sichuan braised beef stew noodle soup. For the dry noodle, our favorite is the chilli oil noodles with wide noodles. For appetizers, the spicy wonton is really good. Their spicy sauce has just the right amount of kick and is mildly sweet. While they also serve dumplings, I kind of feel there are dumplings are just average --- stick with the noodles!
