Rachel has groomed my English bulldog 3 times now (he's only 8 months old) and she is wonderful! I really don't post many 5 star reviews, but his one is easy. From the first call to inquire about the service... to the minute my dog got out of the van... this was a perfect experience. I initially called and spoke with Chris about our 10 year old lab mix. Both her back legs are sore, and going to her long time groomer (who was great) seemed like more than she should go through anymore. He explained the service, and his passion about it was easy to hear. When i called back a few weeks later to make an appointment, it was easy to get a time that worked for us. We immediately got confirmation by message and email. The day of the appointment, Emily called that they were running early... and was it OK to move our appointment up? There was no pressure to do so, but that worked for us, so we did. We met Julie when they arrived, and she was so sweet to Georgia. We walked her out to the van (so clean and modern), and had a little apprehension on Georgia's part to get in. The girls were kind and patient, and Julie eventually helped her in. 30 minutes later, Georgia popped out smiling... wagging her tail... and looking amazing. They did a great job and we'll be using them again! Sure, a mobile service is a little more expensive than heading to brick and mortar location, but the time and convenience was well worth it! read more

Ariela always does an amazing job on my shih tzu Tobert She is so sweet with him and I can tell he feels comfortable around her. He is a senior dog meaning he does have arthritis and Ariela always keeps that in mind while grooming him. I also love how she always asks me how I would prefer to groom him and what I would like to have done on him, most groomers I have been to in the past usually just take creative liberties but it is nice to be asked what "style" I would like for him! I highly recommend Ariela and the whole Ruff Life crew! read more

I have 3 Goldendoodles that require a skilled groomer. They all have different types of hair and they take a lot of time to groom. April is our preferred groomer. When my one dog sees the truck she bolts for the door. She gets so excited. My other 2 pups are a little more timid but never refuse to go into the truck! They are also so taken care of and loved!!! If there is a question of price , yes maybe it's pricey but my dogs are not crated, they are having 1:1 attention, they are not stressed and I spend the same money on my own hair!!! read more

My dog hates the water and especially hates bath time. I always challenged with finding a groomer because of how difficult my pup can be but the ruff life has been the only company that has the patience to deal with my dog! Everything about Ruff Life Mobile Grooming screams quality. From their beautiful, new, clean trucks to the ease of scheduling an appointment, a perfect operation. My 9 year old, double coated, Aussie mix was traumatized by a groomer when she was younger. We started using mobile groomers about four years ago to help take some stress out of the visits. BUT- It is so hard to find quality! Luckily I passed one of Ruff Life's vans on Merrick Road about two years ago and have been using them since! We love when JULIE pulls up to our house, so much so that I would say my pup is hardly nervous anymore. On our most recent groom about two months ago, we opted to add on the Japanese Green Bath $. Initially I was skeptical of adding something that cost even more money BUT I am glad that I did. It cut down on my pup's dandruff SIGNIFICANTLY & her coat is SO MUCH SOFTER, even weeks later! Every single member of the staff is friendly and knowledgeable and I would highly recommend their services. I stand by this-you get what you pay for! Their quality is unmatched. My dog used to be gone for 4-6 hours for a grooming. Now I have her back in an hour because THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING + they are right outside. read more

They always accommodate my last minute appointment requests and follow up if they haven't heard from me. We have used a few groomers from here. Charlie groomed my dog today and did such an amazing job. To have a groomer come to your house in an immaculate grooming vehicle is the only way I will have my dog groomed now. Terrible! Don't use the groomer Ariela ! I read good reviews people are afraid the write the negative about the groomers- the charge $363 plus $tip$ for 45 minutes- she didn't even bath my dog no water was used I watched in my RING camera. I have. 90 pound dog who doesn't like getting a bath- the owner Kim just called after I texted her - she says "I wasn't in the truck with her but she says she bathed her" she didn't even clip her hair where I instructed her to! And the water was NOT TURNED ON - & no way would she be dry that quick n with her fur !!What a shame to charge $)$ like this and not offer a REFUND! the let thing my dog will do now is go into a mobile van! They don't care about losing a good customer all they care about is your $$$. There are other mobile services out there half the price! They should have ZERO stars!! read more

I've been using The Ruff Life for over 2 years & they've been great to my pekenese Oliver.He won't let me bathe him or do his nails.On the other hand he goes with Kim the groomer with no problems.She comes right to the door & gets him!She has been great with him.He actually looks forward to spa day now rather than it being a terrible experience for him.It is a little pricy but it's worth it b/c the only thing you have to do is have him ready at the door & they take care of everything else!Thank you Kim from the Ruff Life! read more

I wish I had discovered Ruff Life sooner. My dog is almost 16 years old and taking him to a shop has become an ordeal and a stressful time for him. He was overdue for a grooming so I looked here on Yelp. I saw all of the great reviews, so I called yesterday and was very lucky there was a cancellation for today. This place killed my 9 year old healthy dog. The groomer's name was April and she returned him saying he was wiggly. He had a traumatic neck injury and lost brain function. After surgery, he didn't make it and passed away. This place should be shut down!!! read more

We were looking for a groomer who would be gentle and take lots of care with our 5 month old baby shih tzu puppy for her first haircut. April was highly recommended to us by a close friend, and we are super grateful for that recommendation! April got here exactly at the scheduled time and sent us a text when she was 10 minutes away. From the time she got here, she was so sweet and caring, and you could tell she was a true dog lover. That energy made our puppy so comfortable that she was practically jumping into Aprils arms! had a appointment scheduled for my dog Beemer today with Emily. I let her know ahead of time that he had matt in some areas and that I know that there is an additional fee to treat it. When she picked the dog from my husband she said that his hair would be short. When we got our dog back he was fucking SHAVED! HIS HAIR WASNT SHORT IT WAS GONE! I have a teddy bear dog and he had this beautiful brown and black hair tipped on his ears and and she cut it all off. It is never gonna grow back. If she did an initial consult on my dog and realized that she was going to have to cut it shorter that she originally anticipated then your supposed to go back to the client and ask if that's what they want. No she took it upon herself to remove all my dog hair and his beautifully tipped ears. I want my fucking money back. If I wanted to have my dog butchered I could of taken him to Petco without having to pay $160. Your better off going somewhere else with you pet. I am so angry and heartbroken. He doesn't even look like the same dog anymore! Update: So Rose from Ruff Life got in contact me and lets just say its some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. She was rude, condescending and a straight up asshole. I explained to her my situation and she told me she would contact the groomer and call me back. When she called me back she proceeded to tell me that the groomer said she explained everything to my husband "but he didn't seem to care"! I explained to her that I had a situation like this when my dog was 3 months old and he was shaved and she said "shame on you for getting him groomed so young". Not only was my dog butchered but I was talked down to and disrespected. This is not a company that you should do business with or give yout money too! read more

I only have one word about Ruff LI've and that is AWESOME! I've never used a grooming service before. I did a lot of research and settled with Ruff Life. Wow! I made the right choice! My boys name is Chipper he's 14 and he is deaf. Ariela came and was very gentle with him. When she brought him back both he and I were so happy with her knowledge and grooming skills. I will definitely be using Ruff Life again and I highly recommend this company to anyone in need of a dog groomer. read more

Extremely Unprofessional & Judgmental Experience…read more I have been bringing my dogs to my amazing groomers for over 12-15 years and have always had a wonderful experience. My Papillon, is 17 years old, and my Pomeranian, is 15. They are both senior dogs who have always been well cared for and loved wherever they go. Because my regular groomer was unavailable, I decided to try Cold Noses Dog Grooming for a last-minute appointment. I spoke with Kim, who gave me a 9:00 a.m. slot. I walked my dogs over since it's close to my home, expecting a simple, friendly experience. Unfortunately, what I got was anything but. From the moment I arrived, Kim's tone and demeanor were rude, judgmental, and invasive. She questioned me about where I normally take my dogs, why I wasn't going there anymore, and even asked if my regular groomer had refused to groom them because they're "too old." When I explained that my regular place was simply booked, she continued pressing with unnecessary and uncomfortable questions -- including demanding to know the name of my groomer. When I said I didn't feel comfortable sharing that information, she became defensive and said she "had the right to ask questions." I told her she could, but I also had the right not to answer. Instead of focusing on grooming my dogs, she made me feel accused and unwelcome. At that point, I decided to take my dogs and leave. I took a day off work for this appointment and left feeling angry, disappointed, and disrespected. There was no professionalism, no compassion, and absolutely no bedside manner. I have never been treated so poorly or made to feel like my senior dogs were a "problem." To anyone with dogs-- avoid this place at all costs. The way I was spoken to and treated felt like age discrimination -- for both dogs and owner alike. I wouldn't trust this groomer with any animal, especially one that needs gentle, understanding care. Cold Noses Dog Grooming showed me nothing but coldness and judgment. One star only because zero isn't an option.

Despite that, I still gave them a chance, and the first groom turned out well. However, when I returned for a second appointment for a bath and groom, SIX hours later an entire 360 occurred. I was told by the owner "he cannot come anymore, he's too big and we are overwhelmed." Meanwhile This BLANCA the groomer told me herself she grooms this breed often is "experienced and "the best with schnauzers." The experience felt inconsistent, unprofessional,dismissive and discriminatory in nature. my trained k-9 is being told he's sweet and has no issues but your denying service after payment. I'm in law enforcement) service after you took my money. The owner was rude and the groomer refused to be direct as she spoke with me and even booked me for several upcoming appointments and none of this " overwhelming ,shoulder pain " talk was mentioned. Do better with scheduling and your setup. To have two shops and turn a dog away that did nothing wrong is absurd. Either I was not given accurate information from the start, or the business is not properly equipped to handle certain dogs despite accepting them initially and having relocations . Either way, it was a waste of time and very degrading to be discriminated against and given a BS excuse. This place is not a reliable grooming option.

He needs a lesson on how to talk to customers that are not satisfied with the butchering of their dogs hair. Rude so rude and nasty if things don't go his way. Like a spoiled child. Horrible groomer, and the staff is no better. I would give zero stars if I could. There's too many good groomers out there to put up with this guys antics.

I took her to the vet and she needed ointment cause she kept licking it. I'm not bothered so much by the fact they cut her but I should have been notified, I emailed them through their website letting them know and it's been over a month and no apology, no communication, nothing. I'm only writing this because i happened to mention it to my nephew and he had the same experience at their Woodbury location twice and they never let him know. He had to get his dog a cone because he kept licking his wound that he received under their care. We won't be going back.

Similar to what another customer experienced a few months ago, I also had the same terrible experience with this place. For the amount of money you pay for their service, I would expect great customer service, communication and safe grooming. This was NOT the case with my most recent appointment with them. After my dog finished her appointment, I noticed a bruised area on her stomach that was not there before. I tried calling them a few times, and could not get through - so I sent a text message notifying them in which they originally replied that they apologize for any inconvenience. However, after asking if we could speak over the phone so we could discuss a refund or credit of some sort - they got EXTREMELY defensive. They had the nerve to text back that the groomer said that "there was nothing on the belly area when she handed the dog back to me" and that "maybe the dog might have been moving." Wow, wow, wow. How on earth could my dog just get a mysterious bruise after getting groomed with them, but then they also say at the same time that it could've been caused due to her moving. They couldn't get their story straight which says a lot. From there, they refused to answer my texts or calls (and still to this day hasn't). This place takes NO accountability and thinks its okay for a groomer to not give the paying customer a head's up if something went wrong during the grooming. Please also read what you sign because even if they hurt your dog, they will not give any refunds. Avoid this place at all costs - SOMETHING happened in that mobile van that resulted in a bruised stomach on my dog and they could care less. This scenario is NEVER okay, but even more, especially not after paying upward of $250. Listen to what other people are saying and protect your dog; I'll never trust this place again. If I could give them zero stars I would. read more

The Ruff Life has truly been a lifesaver for our family! We've entrusted them with grooming three very special dogs: two senior Yorkies with complex health needs and our newest rescue, a shelter mutt we'd only had for six days when they worked their magic on him. Both Yorkies required extraordinary care--one with a cardiac condition and seizures that made dryers a no-go, and the other with trachea collapse and, later, mouth cancer. Despite these challenges, Masha handled them with unmatched skill, compassion, and patience. Masha is nothing short of extraordinary. She radiates a calm, positive energy that animals and humans alike are drawn to. She makes our beloved pets feel safe, understood, and cared for, regardless of their age, history, or unique needs. The connection she fosters with them is truly remarkable and deeply touching. All I have to say... WHAT AN AMAZING JOB @therufflifemobile did on my babyboy Piston. I literally had tears of joy. RUFFLIFE is amazing, I called and spoke to Rose (she was fantastic) I told her that I was new to the area and my baby boys hair was just soooo overgrown and was Matted. Due to Covid lockdown, unfortunately Piston went 6 months without a haircut and he was in ruff shape. I asked if there was any chance they can call me if they had a cancellation. And Rose called me back literally the morning after and squeezed Piston into a cancellation slot. Words cannot describe how sweet, caring, professional Rose, Julia, and Rachel were. I have been grooming my dog ever since he was born and he is 4.5 years old and I have never came across a groomers like this. My Piston is very Shy, and scared of other dogs but when he got back in my arms you can tell that he was having a good ol time during his spa day. Thank you sooo much rufflife mobile groomers for an exceptional job. See you all in 7 weeks. Oh and how can I forget my dog was the only one in the van. He had the best one on one care. I was hesitant to try a new groomer for my elderly dog given the nature of her age however, I am truly happy that I did! Due to our current reality, my dog had not been groomed in a few months. Needless to say, she was extremely overdue for a thorough grooming session. With that said, I did some research and came upon, The Ruff Life. I reached out to them regarding an appoint, and was pleasantly surprised by their professionalism and efficiency. My dog's appointment was scheduled for 10:15am. Prior to the appointment the groomer contacted me to discuss any issues and/or special recommendations for my dog. The groomer was attentive, caring, and patient with my dog who at times can be a bit "difficult". By 11:15am my dog was done and ready for pick-up. When I picked up my dog she was not in any distress, as has been the case with other grooming appointments. She seemed calm and happy. With that said, I will be returning to The Ruff Life for additional grooming appointments. It was definitely worth the money!! read more

There is nothing but positives you can say about the Rufflife! Theyve been taking care of my little chonkycat for well over a year now and I dont see a reason to ever stop going! As we all know, cats are extremely difficult when it comes to grooming but the Rufflife does an incredible job in making my little man feel extremely comfortable and stress free! My boy doesnt even hiss at them, thats how relaxed his is!! Based off my experience, I can tell you with 100% certainty that each individual groomer is extremely knowledgeable in the grooming industry, have YEARS of experience, care about your pets health/being more than their own, and have extraordinary pride in their craft. Its nice to know there are companies and groomers like the Rufflife out there that actually do care about your pet compared to others. I am a customer for LIFE and will debate anyone who disagrees. Our dog Max is a sweet boy who has high anxiety. Past groomers never seemed to know how to handle him and would get frustrated and we felt terrible leaving him somewhere so loud and unfamiliar. Ruff Life was a godsend! Lindsey was immediately fantastic, getting down to Max's level and letting him sniff and get to know her and take his time getting to the van since he was wary of such a new place. Usually we would wait for hours for Max to get done at the groomer. With Lindsey, he was done in about an hour and looked fantastic! He was so soft and smelled so good and his nails were the best they have ever been - even days later when they would usually grow out and be so sharp already, they were still perfect! And most importantly, Max was so happy after his grooming! Usually after the groomer all the stress makes him tired, but he came back happy and excited and ready to play. We will definitely be using Ruff Life again! read more

The Ruff life mobile grooming was the best experience I ever had with a dog groomer. I found out about them on my crossing (I'm a crossing guard)the grooming van stopped at the light, I asked the driver if they service Valley Stream, she said yes and handed me a brochure. I went on their website which I loved. So much information on their business. I booked an appointment online. Their response time was immediate. They confirmed via text and called prior to coming and I couldn't be happier. Vanessa and Erika are the greatest pet stylists ever. They asked questions about my 2 dogs, gave me a rundown on prices. No fees were kept hidden every option was explained all before the doggies were groomed. My doggies Harry and Bella look FANTASTIC!! I am extremely happy and so are they!! My dog stella just had her first grooming with the Ruff life. The appointment was at 8 am and they arrived at 8 am sharp. They called me 10 minutes prior to their arrival, which was greatly appreciated. Two young girls arrived (Emily and April) and were very enthusiastic about grooming Stella. Stella happily walked out to the mobile grooming van with them. One hour later they knocked at my door and stella was happy and groomed. She looked great. The even put a little pink bow in her hair which was a nice touch. She was wagging her tail and she was sad to see the girls go. I would highly recommend using the ruff life because they cared about my dog like I do. I already booked stellas next grooming appointment. They were very professional. I have been using The Ruff Life Mobile Grooming services on a regular basis for a few years now. Everyone is fantastic. Chris and Emily are wonderful and every team member I have encountered is great. Brooke has been grooming our baby girl Cosette for almost 2 years now and she is amazing with our puppy who can be pretty picky about being groomed but now she loves it. Our baby girl Cosette gets so excited when I tell her that Brooke is coming over lol she runs to the door and excitedly waits for Brooke to pull up. Brooke is not only great with our puppy but she is super sweet, friendly, courteous and does an awesome job of taking care of our puppy Cosette's extra long hair. I couldn't ask for better than Brooke. I hope to have her grooming Cosette for many more years to come. read more

We had a wonderful experience today with Ruff Life. We adopted a large dog from a shelter this morning, and she badly needed a bath and nail clipping. Since we had very little knowledge of how the dog may react to a bath, we decided to try a mobile grooming service. The response to my request for an appointment was very timely and we felt very comfortable once we met Chris and Emily and their counterpart groomer. Their confidence working with our newly adopted dog put us at complete ease, which helped so much with her transition to our home! They invited me to peek into the van during the service, and our 50 lb. dog looked so mellow and sweet having her hair dried. We couldn't be happier that we called Ruff Life today and will use them again for our lovely rescue! read more

We are beyond pleased with this amazing groomer! We have a rescue dog that was starting to look a little homeless with all the fly away wirey hairs. We were nervous our baby would loose his charm and character after being groomed. But, LINDSAY did an absolutely phenomenal job! She took the time prior to grooming him to talk to us and make us feel at ease. She completely understood what we wanted and that we loved some aspects of his hair like his beard and Mohawk! She made sure our nervous puppy warmed up to her too before bringing him to the truck. He came out beyond our expectations! The rainbow bow tie and purple nails were the icing on the cake! My 1st appointment with Ruff Life Mobile and by far best experience ever!! April my groomer so nice, friendly, respectful, & loved my pup & he loved her so much after i brought him inside he ran to window to see her outside, had an excellent experience, a little more than u would normally spend but well worth it by far. Cannot complain about anything at all, it was on time, professional, super friendly, accomadating to my anxious dog, groomer April was super friendly and a complete sweetheart, from soup to nuts an absolute best experience, so very happy i found this company & especially April who meshed so well with my pup. I am so thankful for The Ruff Life Mobile Dog Grooming! Our groomer is Brooke. She is absolutely amazing with my 12 yr old labradoodle Cleo. As my Cleo has gotten up in age her hips could no longer handle the long hours at a groomers salon. She needed personal attention and a speedy grooming. When I saw Ruff Life truck on the road I quickly took a photo of their number. For over a year or so now Brooke comes and grooms my baby with the upmost attention and love. And does it in a quarter of the time that my salon could do. I highly recommend this grooming company and Brooke! Outstanding service, highly recommended. Julie M. came today to work on my 4 1/2 year old Border Collie, Darla. Darla is a sweet kid but very nervous.She can get pretty aggressive. I warned Julie and her assistant but they assured me that they could handle her. And they did! She had nails, pads, ears and anal glands done along with a haircut and bath. The Ruff Life crew kept her calm and positive and kept themselves safe. Darla looks and smells wonderful and is very happy. I definitely recommend Ruff Life and while I am sure all of their employees are great, I can definitely tell you Julie is a pro's pro. Taking the dog to the groomer is one chore I don't have to deal with anymore thanks to Julie and Lexi from The Ruff Life Mobile Grooming who come right to my front door. But its not just the convenience. For me, its important that I trust whoever is taking care of my dog, Ike. As soon as I met Julie and Lexi I knew Ike was in safe hands. I saw how sweet and gentle they were with Ike who cannot stand getting a bath. He becomes a nervous wreck. Julie and Lexi manage to keep him calm as they do a thorough job getting Ike squeaky clean and fresh. We adopted Ruthie from PETA after she was rescued from a lifetime of neglect and abuse. She had been left outside for 5 years and bred repeatedly. Each time her babies were taken from her and the cycle continued. She never had a name, never had a toy, never went on a walk and had no idea how to navigate doorways when we got her. Took some time to find someone we were comfortable with but it was worth the wait. Julie has been answering my questions for a couple of weeks leading up to our appointment. That level of understanding is truly priceless. Both Julie and Anna were great with us and Ruthie. We had our first experience with Ruff Life Mobile this past Friday. We have a yorkie/bichon who I normally take to a different groomer. But I hated leaving our little Teddy there and knowing he would be crated and left there for hours. So I decided to try mobile grooming. We had the pleasure of getting Julie as our groomer. Teddy was nervous at first but quickly warmed up to Julie. We were very happy with the end result. She did a great job on his cut. Julie was very eager to meet my expectations. Teddy was literally smiling once he was finished and was a happy pup. I could tell he truly enjoyed his experience. We will be using Ruff Life again for our next grooming. read more

Couldn't have been more pleased with the services of Ruff Live Mobile! Julie, and her able bodied assistant, did a fantastic job with our ten year old Siberian Husky, Riley. They couldn't have been more pleasant, courteous, or professional in their approach to both handling Riley, who can be quite onerous at times to say the least, and providing what seems to be the best grooming he's ever had. Upon the completion of Riley's grooming in the past, he's always been grumpy and angry for at least a couple of days. However, after this session with Julie, he was immediately back to his normal self! I would highly recommend Ruff Life Mobile for your per grooming needs! read more

I wrote a review about a month ago and it wasn't positive. I had mentioned that I used Julie in the past and was extremely happy. I then had a poor experience and no response from a call to the owner which caused me to write the negative review. Based on my conversation with the owner, I decided to give them another shot. Julie left about a half hour ago and I must say that both Roscoe and myself are extremely happy. My puppy loves Julie and she did an excellent job. I have already booked my next appointment with Julie and would totally recommend the Ruff Life Mobile. I wish I could delete my prior review, but hopefully this one makes up for it. read more

We had the pleasure of having April come to our house today to groom our 14 year old dog who recently lost her long time groomer who passed away. April texted on her way here and arrived a few minutes before the appointment time. Per our instructions, April called when she appeared to be experiencing distress. As an experienced groomer, April knew not to continue the groom. I cannot say enough good things about April or The Ruff Life, who were kind enough to charge a reduced rate. I highly recommend The Ruff Life and commend April for being very professional, compassionate, and knowledgeable about when to discontinue a groom when it isn't safe . read more
