We have taken our golden doodle to this business for at least the last three years. Sadly, this business does not seem to want to follow specific instructions. We took our golden doodle to his place of business on Tuesday and asked that they give her a trim of about 1/2 inch off the current length of her coat, trim her nails, and make sure that they do not touch her tail. The reason we remind them not to touch her tail is because They have a history of shaving our dog down to the skin including the tail, where she now looks like a lion. (Golden doodles are part golden retriever, with long smooth hair, and a poodle, with somewhat curly sometimes kinky hair) Kinky, not matted. I've given the owner specific instructions not to touch the tail. But they have never called us when the make radical deviations. They just take unilateral action and basically scalp our dog ; when we have told them never to do that again. on three occasions this has happened including Yesterday. Each time the owners response is the hair was matted down to the skin we had to cut it all off. Sort of like going to the hospital for an ingrown toenail, and coming out missing a leg. In my opinion. I don't know exactly why they continue to do this. I know they have a rotating number of groomers and it just seems like there are one or two that insist on giving your pet the standard cut for the breed. Totally ignoring the owners instructions. Again just my opinion. It's also difficult to complain because you must pay in cash, and you must pay before they will bring your pet out for you to pick up. No ability to dispute a credit card fir instabce. if you like a seemingly haphazard result and don't really care about the instructions you give to your pets groomer. Then in my opinion this might be a place for you. But if you do can care about consistency and communication , if a vendor is going to deviate from those instructions, you might consider going someplace else. Just my opinion. I took this photo 10 minutes before we took the dog in for grooming. Her tail is not matted. Nor is her fur. Seems like they just wanted to turn out as many pets as they could in the day. In my opinion. And not take the time that it would take to do the job that we had asked them to do. Which is the same instructions we give them every time we go in there. Disregarding our long-standing instructions is not acceptable. read more

Our family has used Dapper Dog for more than 10 years. A few years ago, when my mom started having mobility challenges, Rich would not let her get out of her vehicle to bring her dog and my dog into the shop. He would come out to the vehicle and get both little dogs from her and then when she picked them up, Rich brought them out and put them in the vehicle for her. Mom's dog passed June a year ago just before Mom passed Sept of 2024. We continued taking my little dog to him every three weeks. Additionally, 6-8 years ago our cousin also got a little dog, and she also started taking her little one to Rich as well. To this day, Rich still does my little dog and my cousin's little dog. My father has a new puppy that just started going to Rich as well. Tomorrow will be the puppy's 2nd time at the groomer. We refer him whenever anyone asks. Oh, and last time I took my cousin's little dog with us she saw the lady that grooms her standing in the parking lot and became very excited and tried to go see her before we ever got any of them in the store. We've tried a number of place on Fleming Island to have our 2 year old Jack Russell Rough Coat groomed. On his first cut as a pup one local place shaved him, I was devastated. Finally we tried Dapper Dog and are extremely satisfied. Rich the manager is always pleasant & listens to our concerns. The groomer Megan does an awesome cute every time on our baby. I've used Dapper Dog since 2009 for both my dog (long hair mutt of dubious origin) and cat (Maine Coon with long hair that tangles easily). Both are senior citizens now and still going on a regular basis. They do a wonderful job every single time and neither of my pets come home stressed. I've never had another groomer who did not need to sedate a cat to do a kind, high-quality job. They also do in-their-home boarding. Highly recommend. read more

We noticed she has a razor rash on her tail from Her appt: nobody said anything & my dog is in pain $110 later I do not recommend this business. Just awful & there's no style to the haircut . The guy there is not very friendly to customers, which I guess is fine. But the biggest concern I had was that it didn't appear very clean. There was hair everywhere that was obviously from a different dig than what was being groomed and so if they didn't clean up the hair, they probably didn't sanitize anything else. read more
