First off, I really hate writing reviews that are negative towards any business. I have been coming to this restaurant for the last 10 years and really never had a problem until tonight. First impression on the night is that the staff is very friendly, young probably just out of high school which I do not have a problem with unless you're not capable of handling your job. I ordered the mixed plate That comes with a steak and chicken kebab, salad and rice. The food did take a little while to come out but that really wasn't the problem. Once my food arrived at the table I noticed shortly after that the steak kebab looked a little off. I decided to cut into it before taking a bite and discovered that the meat had literally not been cooked one bit. Now maybe it was just the chefs first couple nights cooking but this to me was just unacceptable. I went to the front of the store and I asked for them to give me a chicken kebab in place of what happened. The lady at the front apologized and quickly got me a single chicken kebab instead. Unfortunately when that came out It was also under cooked and I decided to just cut my losses and not finish the meal. Once we left the restaurant the chef again apologize for the under cooked steak and I said "no problem don't worry about it, these things happen." The main reason that I even decided to write this post is really just to warn other people to take a look at your food before you decide to dig in as you could end up sick or in the hospital from this. I will still continue to go to this restaurant but I will definitely be checking to make sure my food is cooked through next time. read more

Daphne's - Mediterranean Near Me - Thousand Oaks, California

Anybody who gives this anything more than 3 stars has no idea what real Greek food tastes like. Before you disagree, spend a few extra minutes in the car and drive to Greek House Cafe in Simi Valley, or George's in Long Beach, then try and tell me this overblown frozen phood shop called "Daphne's" is worth anything more than a house pet's bowl. Service: I'm sorry, but I don't want to be asked 3 TIMES in 15 minutes if my phood is tasting OK, or if I need more sauces. Call me grumpy, but this is fast phood. The initial ordering and purchase was also an awkward hassle. A. they don't seem to know what they are doing with their own cash registers and B. they charged me $1.29 for ONE EXTRA PITA which seems a bit overpriced for pre-frozen microwaved banquet meal-esque Greek phood. Taste: Bland. Frozen. Fatty. NOT GOOD. Again, take my recommendation above, you will be thanking me for days after you enjoy some Greek family owned Greek food and not this semi-inedible gelatinous orchestration of phood. read more

I'm use to the service at the now closed Ventura location. The teenage at the cash register was horrible. This location is very gloomy inside. The salmon I order was not seasoned like the Ventura location. Also seemed like a smaller portion. I will say there was a manager there that asked several times how I was doing. I give him a thumbs up. He needs to keep a better eye on the young help. read more

I wasn't always a fan of the Daphne's chain but this one in particular is fantastic. I have eaten here many times and I've never been disappointed. Their two item combo is well priced for what you get and I highly recommend the gyros. The manager is on the ball and always walks around to see how you like the food. It's not gourmet, but the bread, tzatziki sauce and lamb are pretty good. The salad and rice are so-so. Call in your order and pick it up so you don't have to deal with Niko's testiness at the counter. This way you show up, tell them your name, and pay. We usually order a super plate of Daphne's combo with extra bread. Sometimes the chicken and steak ka-bobs are overcooked and they seem to have gotten smaller over the years. The to-go packaging is really nice and they have everything ready for you to pick up in about 10-15 minutes. read more

If you like Greek Food you will like Daphne's. They have excellent Pitas and excellent Greek salad's and their tatsaki is very good. The manager is a very nice guy that works there and he's been there for many years. He is always very helpful and goes out of his way to do nice things. I've liked everything I've had so far. Daphne's is in the food court opposite Home Depot & Target. It's a pleasant enough place and we like Greek Food. I got the Mix & Match Plate $8.99...I got Grilled Chicken and Grilled Steak Kabobs. After the first bites I remember why we hadn't been there in a long time...The Chicken was veeery dry and the Steak was almost impossible to chew!!! What can I say? If it's too expensive to sell tender beef they should take it off the menu also there's no excuse for dry chicken!!! My family& friends have been going to this Newbury Park location for years. The food is OK but it is conveniently located near Home Depot and Target. The manager there seems to be in a hurry all the time but I am OK with that. Like usual, I stopped by this place tonight for a to go order. There was 1 person ahead of me. The order took a while as the manager & the young lady at the cash register were chatting away. So, I waited patiently until well, I thought I was next. They ignored me and called the person behind me because the guy called in his order. OK, again I waited patiently thinking this was kind of odd & unfriendly. Well, so I thought I was next. Wrong, the manager called another person behind, again this guy called in his order. OK-now that was rude. I said " excuse me, I am next" that manager gave me the dirty look and said that I have to wait until he's done with this customer. No, Mr. manager, I don't have to wait!!! I don't have to eat here and I certainly don't have to come back to this place !! You just lost 5 customers ( my family & friends) . I walked out and went to The Habit next door. They were very happy to help me and I was very happy to give them my business. Every restaurants i know don't treat their customers like this. There is a reason why people wait in line. The purpose of a call in order so the foods are ready when you get there. You still have to wait inline to pay. He could open another cash register to take care of those people or have a special window for them. You are going to lose your loyal customers or the business if you keep treating your customers this way. I grew up in a family restaurant business and this is not the way to run it. read more

Love that we can feed both vegans and meat eaters from the same menu. Staff is always friendly and helpful when it comes to advising those unfamiliar with Greek cuisine. Daphne's also does wonderful party platters for small groups or large events and I've used them as a last minute save when unexpected company arrives. While I myself am vegan, my nephew loves the chicken soup, joking that it tastes just like momma never made! Got the classic Greek salad with chicken to go. Menu said it is made with romaine and iceberg lettuce. It's all iceberg. The chicken is extremely dry and cold. Almost inedible. Very bland salad. The tzatziki is extremely thick with chunks of gelatin in it. Doesn't taste like tzatziki. Would not order again. read more

Wow was I impressed!! Niko is amazing and made my experience exceptional. I don't think I have every walked out of a restaurant so happy. Fast-food Greek place, not bad. Always been fresh and tastes good. However, the portions are very small; beef kebab just a couple of bites and so is the grilled shrimp. If you are on a diet you'll be good here. But I think the prices are high and not such a great value; minimal food for a lot of dough, i.e. $20 for two people and while we're satisfied I know I'll be hungry soon. read more

This Daphne's is close to my work and I go here for lunch often. The Spanakopita and Lemon Chicken Soup are so delicious! There is a man usually there during lunch hours ( perhaps the manager?) who is exceptionally kind and will make sure you have a good experience. Pretty good customer service. read more

I believe Nicko usually helps me at the counter and may be the franchise owner. Whatever he is, he's very effiecient and courteous. Food is great and surprisingly affordable. I usually get the classic Gyro. Flavorful meat, delicious tzatziki sauce. Place is a no brainer, trade the Big Mac for a Gyro any day. One of the places I crave, I was so sad when the one by my house closed. I have been to Greece and I would never say this is authentic Greek food, but we don't go to Taco Bell for Mexican, we go for cheap tacos. That being said, I love Daphne's! I get the street pita duo with salad and rice, extra tatziki (spelling??) pro tip : mix rice with the salad... So yummy. While the food tastes decent and the manager who runs the register is nice, they do not pay attention to allergy requests even when placing an online order. I don't know if it's a breakdown in communication at the restaurant, or whoever they have receiving the orders can't be bothered to care if they send someone to the hospital. I specifically place online orders because it seems to produce less order errors, and there's no he said she said at the register. It's there in writing "No onions please. Allergic" on the order so they can't play dumb. I'm angry at myself for not checking my order before I left. Sadly asking for them to not put any onions in my food due to an allergy was too difficult a task for them. I guess it'll also be too difficult for me to return as a customer. read more
