I hadn't been to Daphne's in many years. This week I decided to try it again and was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed my plate of grilled chicken, falafel, vegetables, and fries, that included pita wedges and yogurt sauce. The food was fresh and seemed a healthy choice, although next time I will try the salad instead of fries to make it healthier. VERY POOR PRICE TO QUALITY RATIO! I've been coming here easily 15 years and unfortunately it's just not the same anymore. Between price hikes, ingredient changes and overall decrease in quality, it's just not worth it. A Greek salad with extra Gyro and an iced tea will run you 25 dollars! The lettuce is crudely chopped as well as vegetables and not enough meat unless you order extra. Both the tsatziki and the dressing have changed immensely, the tsatziki is now bland and runny, the dressing went from tasting like a robust greek/Italian to tasting like watery oily SALT. Seriously what did you guys do to the dressing recently?! If you're looking for good tasting Greek food or even decent priced satisfactory Greek food. This is not it, keep driving. read more

Way over priced for the quality of food .. got the mix and match with chicken and beef kabobs . The kabobs taste reheated and over cooked the chicken has very little flavor . Do not order the fish for the mix and match plate. Fish is dry, unseasoned and tastes old. Vegetables are also not fresh and from frozen. When I got home I opened the box and what I got for my $41 was unacceptable. Burnt falafel! Just hard as rocks. My first and last time time ordering from this fast food version of Greek food. It is not fresh and it is not good. I ordered the spanakopita and a gyro. The spanakopita was dripping with oil and seemed like something you'd pay 1.99 for at 7-11. They were tiny, oily, and I literally couldn't believe that 5 of these tiny little things cost ten dollars. The picture shows what an order of actual spanakopita looks like. This was most certainly not that. Next we have the gyro. Almost no vegetables, no tzatziki, and extremely salty and stale "meat" that was pretty much disgusting. The thing about authentic gyros is the balance between acid from the vegetables and the sauce and the savory ingredients. The flavor profile can be described as SALT. I took a few bites and decided I'd rather the hungry than eat any of it. I am so tired of all of these Americanized versions of ethnic foods. Never again. read more

We got daphnes delivered last night through grubhub. I got the falafel wrap that was delicious and packed with flavorful chickpea falafel. I loved the garlic flavor and would definitely try it again. Christine got the greek bowl but the fire feta sauce was a little too spicy for her. Beware of the fire feta if you aren't a heat lover! I finished the end of her bowl and really liked the flavors. We shared spanakopita and both fell in love. Really good greek fooood with a little California twist. One of my favorite local Mediterranean eats. Can't wait to try something else read more

Daphne's California Greek is a chain eatery that serves Greek/Mediterranean style food prepared fresh daily. They are known for their Pita and Gyros, but I personally enjoy their Spanakopita, Falafel, and Baklava as well. I've been to this location about 8 times and have always had a pleasant visit. I believe I've dined in once and the remainder of times have been take out (you can either call in your order or order online). We are usually given a 10-15 minute window and the food is always ready upon arrival. The staff is always friendly when taking your order and the establishment is always clean. What I appreciate most about their to-go orders is that they always check your order as they bag it up to ensure everything is correct. More often then not, they will actually go over the order in front of you and show you each item that you've ordered. My favorite is the mix and match plate where you pick 2 Proteins and is served with rice, a Greek salad and fresh pita. If you love spicy food, I recommend order a side of Fire Feta, it's amazing! read more

For starters, the location is technically Newbury Park so if you're confused as to whether this is the Daphne's that is part of the foodcourt off Wendy Dr - Yes! Yes it is.. in Newbury Park. I've been coming here for many years for pitas, salads, kebobs, you name it and the food has always been plentiful in serving/size and decently standard in quality. While you definitely get what you pay for, and then some, the taste of the dishes all seem to be a little saltier than they need to be. The surf and turf is probably the only thing I'd strongly recommend trying while visiting. This particular location has a massive parking lot with large amount of outdoor seating and a small amount of indoor seating, as well. Could be great for groups, non-formal lunch meetings, or road trip stops for those traveling up/down the grade and need a wide variety of preferred food options for all types of guests riding in the vehicle. Bonus points - There's a Tutti Frutti (amazing frozen yogurt and buns shop) right next door for dessert, so save room! The staff at this location have always been kind, helpful, and on the ball with things. They move quick, keep things clean, and talk to you in a professional manner. I've never had a negative experience with the staff at this location. All in all if you want to try something other than the typical burger and pasta nights, it's worth a stop by. Then he told me that my wife's order was slightly wrong, and asked me if I wanted to keep it or replace it. She can't eat the thing they accidentally added, so I asked for a replacement and got it easily. I love that they 1) checked, 2) offered a solution, and 3) made it right immediately. I called the restaurant 8 times and they let it ring thru to voice mail every time; so I'm suspecting they saw my caller ID and didn't want to deal with it. I've been going to this restaurant since I was in high school (over 15 years) and the service clearly hasn't held up. Maybe Niko isn't there anymore? My first time visiting this restaurant : I ordered a Chicken Gyro with Fries $17.27. The Chicken was spicy, I don't like spicy foods so I think they messed up my order. The chicken was cut in perfect slices and size to stay in the gyro. The pita taste dry, heavily powered, but was a decent size for a gyro. My gyro had lots of raw onions that refreshed the spicy chicken. I would have liked more tzatziki sauce on my gyro but they charge extra $2 for sauce. I was disappointed with the amount of fries I received after paying for extra. It almost looks like someone ate some of my fries before placing it in the bag. The fries were very tasty I enjoyed them more than the gyro. I wish I could fill that whole container with fries. Food was not filling for 5'4 135lbs female. Sadly, I'm not making plans to revisit this place soon. I'd rather spend $80 at Ali Baba in Simi Valley, CA for their chicken plate with pita and hummus with meat. The grilled chicken isn't fatty and always served hot. The fries are crispy and cooked perfectly! They have one of my favorite iced teas and fresh lemons.
