I love this place. Almost everything I have tried here is great. My husband and I even had one of our holidays partied catered through them, everyone loved it. My only complaint and reason for them to not get the full 5 stars is their online ordering. It is never ready when you get there. They do not start your order till you are in the restaurant, so what's the point of ordering ahead? So just beware if ordering on a lunch break. I came here for pick up and it could be this location or just in general... but not really feeling this place as much as I use to. The food seems to be more mediocore, the service the same- good, however this location could use a bit of clean up. I don't think I will be going to another location anytime soon. We have come to this restaurant for years. You will not get better service or a more dedicated manager than Niko! He was not there tonight, unusual because he is always there. He deserves a night off! His staff greeted us with smiles and quick service. The have reduced their menu selection, but what's left is still great. Great price, bring your coupons, order anything on the menu and enjoy piping hot combo platters of Salmon or their Gyro's. The chicken lemon soup is wonderful. We have also ordered their party platters (catering menu) for 3 large parties held in our home to rave reviews. Went to Daphne's tonight with my family along with what appeared to be all of Newbury Park. It was a super busy night. The owner greeted us and was very nice and helpful. There was a little bit of a wait to get our food but he was doing everything he could to get everyone's food out. He was cooking, bussing tables, passing out food. He apologized multiple times for the wait and gave us a basket of fries for waiting. Great food and excellent service. read more

This place is awesome! I have been here many times, because I work across the street, and it is always good. The staff is super nice, and the food is always amazing (I would recommend the gyro, shrimp, and fish especially) and the portion sizes are huge (at least, for me). The salad is also really good, and they give you an almost absurd amount of excellent rice, which is a great touch on an already fantastic experience. I live in Camarillo and I make an effort to go get lunch at this Daphne's as often as I can because the food is spectacular and the staff is so genuinely nice and caring. Every time I come in, the employees are so accommodating. They always get my order right (even when I make it extremely difficult) and they always make sure I have everything I need/want. I don't even know how to express how wonderful this Daphne's is. To make things even better, they have fully gender neutral bathrooms which I think is fantastic. Having a gender neutral bathroom in a public place is one of the simplest things a business can do to make their guests feel more comfortable. Very rude service. I'm here for the first time at the Newbury location. We were not greeted at all the girl at the counter was almost bothered by us even being there. I noticed a gentleman coming in for catering and there was an altercation over whether or not they would provide napkins and utensils to him. Like, shouldn't that be included?! After he left the same girl who took our order called him a guevon which means lazy and dumb in Spanish. She probably thought I didnt understand Spanish. And then every other word out of her mouth was f*** and I'm pretty sure the gentleman there was a manager, or at least higher ranking than her so I'm surprised he didnt say, "hey there are customers here". Ordered a catering meal from DoorDash for 8 people and 2 sides of catering hummus- to be served family style. Received 8 separate boxes of mix and match entrees and 2 tiny sides of hummus. Meat was over cooked and chewy. Salad had onions when I requested no onions. I spoke on the phone with the Sunday morning manager and 2 different employees about the order. And still received something completely different. Terrible customer service and horrible experience. I DID NOT receive what I ordered and was overcharged. This time we went for the Family Feast, having received an email saying you get $5 off the Feast (regularly $35) on Saturdays if you request it while ordering by phone or in person (not online). We had no idea how much food there'd be, but the name implied it'd feed a family of four. Since our kids are long gone and we're now a family of two, we figured it would be enough for us, and we spun the wheel. So. much. food. And so good. For our two proteins we picked hand-carved gyro (yummy) and chickpea falafel (surprisingly kinda spicy). For sides, we choose "seasoned" basmati rice (meh, very basic) and roasted vegetables (carrots and green beans with a smaller amount of zucchini and yellow squash). We chose hummus for our sauce. Glad we didn't pick tzatziki, because they threw in four little cups of that for free! We ended up getting two full lunches for two full adults (everything reheated well) out of it. I'd estimate it's a value of $40 to $48 for $30 (with the $5 off), maybe equivalent in quantity to four individual $12 plates of food -- a good solid deal if you can agree on the choice of proteins, sides and sauce. The tomato was about a quarter slice, if I added all the wet little bits. And I'm being generous. Half the steak was uneatable full of fat. Also no red onion!! Also iceberg all the way. I had never had a catered party before, but as it was my 70th, I wanted a great one, and Daphne's delivered. The problem for me was what kind of menu I wanted as we had people from 12 years old to 86, vegeterians, meat eaters, light and heavy eaters, you name it. Daphne's Mediterranean Greek offerings were absolutely perfect in every way. So, we selected their standard dinner for 35 people, and vegeterian for 10 more. They brought EVERYTHING but drinks. The food was quite warm and very fresh. It included chicken and beef skewers, taboule, hummus, a ton of pita bread, an enormous Greek salad, about a gallon (or so it seemed) of tzatiki sauce, falafel balls, really tobust paper plates, napkins, and some gorgeous baklava. Most all of our guests raved about the food and they especially liked that is was Mediterranean and light on the tummy. The price was fair, and Nico and his staff were very helpful. My Greek Bowl with juicy grilled chicken breast and grilled veggies with pita was full of delicious flavor and my husbands pita was loaded also with that high quality grilled chicken breast. Five stars also to the owner or manager who served us-we had to shift from dine in to take out when we googled the route we were taking (to Palm Springs) and saw the traffic building-he very graciously and efficiently moved our order to take out containers and we were on our way! This place frustrates me. Don't get me wrong - I love the food here. They are relatively healthy and delicious. Gyros are fresh and never over cooked. Hummus and pita bread are the must haves. I love the chicken salad. Wednesday street pita is a steal! What frustrates me is their service when the Nico/owner (not 100% if Nico is the owner) is not around. Nico is always very nice and makes sure all customers enjoy meals and get what we need. He is fast and would not let any customer wait for more than 10 minutes. When he is not around, orders get mixed up and the wait is generally 20+ minutes even it's online or phone order! Hope all staff could be the same as Nico, then I will visit more often. read more

I don't think I have ever given 5 stars to a chain restaurant. However when I think about this place I realize that they do everything right. Niko has been there for as long as I can remember. He always makes sure we are happy with our order. My wife and I go here for lunch about once a week. Often Niko will surprise us with something special "on the house" I recall a rainy day last year when he drought over some soup to our table, just to warm things up. So, I have been to a couple of other Daphne's locations, and while they were all good, this one stands out as the best consistant quality and customer service.
