Took care of a problem with my hitch of my own making. Everything was done to my satisfaction at a reasonable price.

So a spur of the moment trip to pick up a trailer my boss Juan at the auction, turned into an absolute horror. I was stuck in Elkhart for about two days when The was supposed to be just a turnaround. Everyone I talked to recommended Dans. After getting the cold shoulder pretty much everywhere I looked. I called Dan's mind you I was 25 minutes away and I called it about 11 AM on Saturday. They close at noon. I spoke to Ryan who I believe is a customer service manager, possibly or the shop manager Ryan did not hesitate to tell me to come by the sooner the better and that he could get me taken care of, even though they would be closing in less than a half an hour after I would be arriving Curtis the amazing technician who offered to stay late to make sure I was taken care of provided me with every detail and answer to every question I had and Ryan did the same as well along with sending me pictures of the process throughout. I cannot recommend these guys in this establishment more. I wish I could give 10 stars. They know what they're talking about. They do a great job and they are truly professionals. Said what they do and did what they said. Quality workmanship and customer service. Quick to respond to questions along with follow up pictures to go with the answers. Without asking, they keep you up to date on installation progress with pictures. Start to finish perfectly executed and on schedule. I wish all businesses ran like this one. They take justified pride in what they do, and it most definitely shows. Above, was the more succinct "30,000 foot" view of our experience. Below, is a more detailed view of our experience for those who may be interested. We were looking for a flat tow hitch to pull our Jeep behind our class A motorhome. Stacy kindly greeted me and introduced me to Ryan. Ryan walked through some scenarios and asked questions to determine what was most important to me. I was looking for strength, durability, and simplicity. He walked me though options to accomplish that. He had Tai show me a couple hitch designs and how they operate. We got the heavy-duty Blue Ox hitch and the integral Demco braking system permanently mounted in the Jeep. No separate braking unit/machine to put on the floor behind the brake pedal to attach and adjust, as well as take back out, and stow every time. With the Demco system, we just flip a switch on a box under the dash to activate or disconnect the tow braking system. That's it...done. It is more money, but considering the reliability, simplicity, and particularly the speed of set-up/tear down it brings to the table, it is well worth the extra cost to us. Not that it was that much more in the scheme of things. We scheduled the installation. Everything was like clockwork to the proposed schedule. We took the Jeep in 1st. After a couple days we took the motorhome in. The next day everything was done, ready for training, and pickup. Tai did an outstanding job training us the proper steps for coupling and uncoupling the hitch, as well as, putting the Jeep in the correct state to safely tow it. That was more involved than I anticipated. Incorrectly doing a step can damage the vehicle. But don't worry. They give you a comprehensive check sheet for the coupling, uncoupling, and vehicle set up procedure. If you just follow that step by step, you will have no problem. We are laminating it and will keep in the motorhome with the hitch components. I also scanned it as a pdf file in my phone. I like having the checklist as this is nothing you want to be complacent with. Missing a detail can damage your vehicle(s), create a dangerous situation and potentially be fatal for people that happen to be near a failure on the highway. Aren't you glad pilots always use preflight checklists no matter how experienced they are? ;) Tai also took us through some "what if or might happen" scenarios that did not happen during our training. He told us how to address them IF they arise. Coincidently, one happened when we went to uncouple when we got home. We knew what to do to easily overcome the minor intermittent obstacle. By covering that, it saved us from making SOS phone call to them. They know what they are doing. Then once assured the training was done and understood, Tai rode along with us on a test ride to be sure we were comfortable with the operation and handling. Quite frankly, if it were not for the rear-view camera, I wouldn't even know the Jeep was back there. The Jeep tracks exactly the path the motorhome took around corners. All worked perfectly. My review is perhaps verbose. But you were forewarned after the 1st paragraph which was a delightfully concise general overview. You could have stopped there. But apparently you didn't and I am not sorry. I felt it was worth my time, as it was earned, to detail our experience and how satisfied we are with Dan's Hitch and Service Center. The staff is knowledgeable and will get you happy with your trailer zippity quick. They even hold classes in the proper way to hitch up and tow. I bought a new truck and needed my 5th wheel and auxiliary fuel tank moved to my new truck. My 5th wheel was wrong for my new truck BUT they traded in my old hitch for a new hitch at a reasonable price--that's service! Took care of us with service like it was 50 Years ago!! I just can't say enough positive things about the business Dan, Ryan, and team have built. I could have easily been oversold in the name of safety when installing a weight distributing hitch, sway, and brake control. Pulling a 6000lb travel trailer with a Chevy Colorado, I was willing to pay what it took to keep it going straight down the road and was certainly vulnerable to being oversold. Ryan talked through the options and what made sense from a value to expense standpoint. It was immediately clear they wanted to give me the best/safest performance I could get and did so based on what my setup needed not on pushing name brand components that weren't needed. The install was customized to my truck/trailer setup and the installer was a wealth of knowledge. By the time we had finished, I felt I had a solid understanding of how the new systems would operate. Additionally during the install, it was decided by the "Power that Be" decided we needed to add an additional hitch to the back of the trailer. So She politely asked if it was possible and Dan and the crew agreed to stay a little late to get us out the door the same day. Needless to say that little Colorado "Mable" pulled our camper home with excellent stability and much better than expected performance. A huge thank you for still running a business where safety and service come first and for hiring an extremely talented and professional install team! I'm a transporter. Met Ryan and crew thru some family and friends. Really great guy. Everyone is friendly. He has a lot of different items in his store. His prices are also cheaper than alot of the places. He has a variety of things such as aux gas tanks, hitches, 5th wheel hitches, headache racks, lights and more. They do installs. Five stars doesn't seem enough to rate the service we received at Dan's Service Center. We travelled from our home in New Jersey to the inTech factory to pick up a new trailer. I contacted Dan's ahead of time to ask if they could install a new hitch for our journey. We told them the date and time, and they said they would take care of us. And take care they did. We towed our new trailer with our motorhome from the factory to Dan's, about 25 miles, with a temporary hitch. When we arrived a Dan's, the first thing that they did was inspect the factory installed receiver on our Forest River motorhome. The receiver was deemed to be barely adequate and, after getting a thorough explanation, we gave the go ahead to have a new, stronger receiver installed. Once the receiver was installed, they began installation of a Blue Ox weight distributing sway control hitch. The installation was done expertly. I was given a tutorial on how the hitch worked and was shown how to hook up, by Dan himself (who also did the installation work). Then, Dan took us on a test drive to make sure that our trailer was towing properly. He even checked and adjusted the electric trailer brakes for us. The parts and labor for this work was neither cheap nor overpriced. With a $90K motorhome and a $25K trailer, I can't see trying to save a few bucks on a hitch install. Dan's is committed to getting work done right and making sure their customers are satisfied. They are a family business who made us feel at home. I thought this company was good but going to Florida we had an issue with our tow vehicle. Dan's put an Air Force One system in but failed to connect some wires and our car went crazy. I called them and told them some wires were not connected and they just told me to refer to my owners manual that they put everything in right. So now we cannot tow the vehicle home until we find someone here to fix whatever the problem is. So it is a he said she said problem. They also said of course if we were home they would fix it for free. why say that if they did it right? read more

I went to Dan's Service Center because I needed a hitch tightener. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I was asked almost right away if I needed any help and I'm glad I was asked. They explained what my options were for a hitch tightener and asked what size I needed. I thought I needed a 2" tightener but it was actually a 1 1/4" tightener. Only because they took the time to go and look at my hitch. I really appreciate how they went above and beyond. When most places would have just let me buy the 2".
