This is the place I bring my car for all normal maintenance, not just tires. They treat me like family and I am very comfortable doing business with them. As a single woman, sometimes auto repair places try to take advantage. That has not been the case here. They've earned my loyalty as a customer.

I thought that was awfully cool so I went back to have the summer rims and tires on my Gladiator switched to the stock set up. Everything went well, the mechanic that did it was very courteous and told me that the bolts that I switched would work but if I had a stock set to bring them in and they'd switch them. I simply forgot, my bad. When the young man who assisted in putting the summer set in the truck bed pulled it out of the bay I asked him if he'd like to make a quick twenty for helping unload them at my house. I just had back surgery less than two months ago and I'm still on a lifting restriction. He said sure so I gave him my address and said I'd look for him after he finished his day. Half way home I remembered that I forgot my water bottle so I called to ask him to bring it with him. First of all, when you call the local number you get a national call center. Not knowing you can press 2 to reach the store immediately I got to sit on hold, ask for the Saginaw Bay road store, no, I don't need to schedule an appointment just transfer me, thanks. The phone rings and another male answers. I ask for the young man who was going to help me and instead handing him the phone I'm asked why I need to speak to him. I explained I left my water bottle and since he was coming by... "Okay...hold on." Long pause... The next thing I hear is the manager, I ask for the young guy and again get asked what it concerned. None of your business really but I'm sure your co-worker told you. (Thus the long pause) She said that it was just "unusual" and I told her that it was more unusual for two people to screen a grown man's phone calls. She then said it was against company policy for an employee to work on a vehicle outside of work. Well, he was just taking tires out of a truck bed and stacking them in my garage. If he was doing a valve job she'd have a point. All this for just trying to help a young guy earn some extra holiday cash because I physically couldn't lift something myself. So I'll be calling the corporate office on Monday to make sure there's no petty retribution for him trying to help a disabled veteran. When I asked for the corporate phone number she put me on hold for ten minutes. (What a professional) When I finally hung up and called back her excuse was they were "very busy." There was one customer waiting when I left, and they closed in a half hour. To the store manager, get over yourself. You run a tire shop. Take the corporate robot bolt out of your neck and simply hand him the phone. This is why people don't get along, because power hungry, petty people like you have to be in everyone's business. Take a second and check yourself. At the end of the day your power goes no farther than the walls of the building you work in. Be a leader, not a sycophant. It'll get you much farther in life.

Somehow, it wound up at Firestone. When he called on his car, they hooked him up with two cheap replacement tires. My son has AWD, so they can't just replace one tire. Anyway, they also took it upon themselves to do a complete auto check. And they told my son that his car had NO oil! .... And that the power steering fluid was low.... And that the brake fluid was low.... Etc. Funny, since the oil was changed the prior month at our mechanic of more than 20 years. At that time, our mechanic completely redid the brakes, changing out a master cylinder. That mechanic has also done major work to the car, and they gave it the a-okay that prior month. Also funny, since Tuffy Auto, right down the street from Firestone had just replaced the drive shaft and a portion of the exhaust system just a week or two prior, and they did a complete fluid check on the vehicle at that time. All of the fluids were fine! This operation is SHADY!!! When my son decided to forgo auto work by this company, the person behind the counter said to him "I hope you have a quart of oil." I truly believe they drained my son's car of oil!! Thankfully, he only needed to drive around the corner for service. He took the vehicle back to Tuffy, where the auto technicians there were baffled that there was NO OIL in my son's vehicle! It made absolutely no sense to them, since they just saw the vehicle and the fluid levels were good. They looked the car over, and there was no damage or leak, and the car was NOT burning oil. They performed another oil change on the vehicle. They also checked all the other fluid levels and found them to be good...NOT low as the people at Firestone reported. Since the visit to Tuffy, we have also had the car into our family mechanic. They have also verified that all fluid levels are good. There was NO reason for the motor to suddenly have no oil. I would NEVER trust my vehicle to Firestone on Bay Road. Companies like this one are the reason auto companies have a bad reputation!
