If I could give this company 0 stars I would. I called Mike's Mobile Mechanic because I had an…read moreelectrical problem my mechanic couldn't fix, and I thought I would save money over going to an auto electric shop. Mike assured me he could fix the problem. He told me he accepted PayPal also. After he diagnosed the car for $75, he told me he could not accept PayPal because his account was hacked. I told him I would not have the cash to pay hundreds of dollars, and he assured me it wouldn't be. He then proceeded to charge me $480 to run a single wire from the fuel pump to the relay box. It took him less than 2 hours. When I went to pick up the car, it still wouldn't start. He claimed it was working when he called me. He said it must be the crank shaft position sensor, which showed up on his computer. I have since learned that this was probably the original problem to begin with. He refused to tell me how much it would cost to fix the sensor, saying it was going to take a lot of work to get to it. I told him I couldn't afford to pay another $480 and he assured me it wouldn't be that much. He then sent me a message saying he had to pay $125 for special tools to remove the harmonic balancer and acted like I was going to have to pay for his tools. when I protested, he said he didn't mean that. I told him not to do any more work on the car until I give him the go-ahead, because I wanted to call my mechanic and ask him for his price. I also told Mike I needed to know his cost upfront before he did any work. We called my mechanic in the morning and was given a quote of $200. I went to text Mike and found he had quoted me $260 for labor and $40 for the part. I told him I want to take it back to my mechanic and let my mechanic fix it for less. So Mike took it upon himself to call my mechanic and gave him a completely different story. I know because my mechanic called us back. I asked Mike why he is giving my mechanic a different story, and he gave me a song and dance about how he would never do that, he is a Christian man who goes to church and he doesn't appreciate someone bearing false witness. I told him I was coming to pick up the car and take it to the mechanic. He demanded that I pay $150 for his work that he had done AFTER I told him not to do any work on it until I said. He said he would NOT give me back the car. I told him if necessary, I would call the police, and that I would rather pay a locksmith than give him another dime. This was mostly over text. I finally called him to let him know he had no right to keep my car and I didn't owe him $150. He talked over me and refused to listen, so I ended up losing it and cussing him out. This is out of character for me, but this is my daughter's car, and I am not made of money. He finally agreed to give me back my car. So I am out $480 and my car still isn't fixed, but at least I know one very dishonest mechanic to steer clear from. I recommend anyone else do the same.
