When I brought the car back, I left it with him and he told me he would call to let me know what I was looking at. As promised, he called and told me my car was ready as promised. When I arrived I asked Brian how much it was, and I was floored when he gave me a VERY reasonable bill. I can't find any reason to take my cars anywhere else from this point forward. Brian is as honest as he can be, and knows Toyotas inside and out. Great service Brian!

Looking for a reliable mechanic in Johnson City?…read more When my daughter's car broke down in Johnson City, we took it to a chain repair shop, which estimated a lot of repairs at a high cost. Suspecting they were taking advantage of her, we consulted Tommy, our trusted mechanic in Knoxville, who confirmed our doubts. Although we managed to retrieve the car, my daughter still paid a lot for almost nothing. This time - when her car stopped running again - we found Brian. He quickly fixed the car and charged us a fair (and low) cost (based on Tommy's estimation). He was also accommodating, accepting the car after hours, and is someone we trust to not take advantage of those who don't know much about cars. Overall, Brian is a great mechanic who we highly recommend.

Mike was able to fix within 3 days, and he gave me a fair price. I am young and I was in a foreign place, normally mechanics would try to rip me off. Mike practiced honest and fair services for me. The second was really recently. My brand new car engine broke. Mike ran some diagnostics, and informed me of the bad news. He immediately looked for a new engine at a nice price , and even knew what to say to the dishonest dealership so they couldn't cheat me out of the warranty. For background: I'm an automotive engineer, and I trust Mike to deliver fair and honest assistance in automotive repair.

I checked into American and Import Auto Repair and was not only impressed with the reviews but also my initial visit. We had two cars that required routine maintenance. The service was performed quickly with an inspection that was comprehensive compared to what we had done before. They pointed out issues that are eventually going to need to be addressed but indicated that could be addressed later. Both vehicles had slow tire air leaks and were repaired for no additional charge. Prices are reasonable and communication by the mechanics is exceptional. Kevin is as good as it gets in the auto electrical area of expertise. I would estimate over the 3…read morejobs he's done on our cars that he's saved us well over a $1000. I'll elaborate on those specific jobs in a second. Kevin is honest, mindful of your budget limits, and a surprising rarity in the repair business. This is my first review on Yelp, I lazily came here to look up Kevin's phone number to make another appointment because he is the only auto electrical guy on my list of recommended services. 1) Okay, first job with Kevin, on a 2006 Chrysler, was when he bypassed a fault in our PCM caused by UHaul installing a vehicle matched trailer wiring harness they sold me that overloaded our taillight circuit. UHaul wouldn't stand behind the damage their part had caused. I could have gotten nasty, but I placed the blame on the part maker instead of the local people involved. Kevin first diagnosed it as a PCM replacement with the part alone running near $1000. When I asked him for options he said he would be willing to rewire that circuit and put in an inline fuse block. That repair total was under $200 and has worked flawlessly for over 6-years now. Neatest wiring work I've ever seen, including factory wiring! 2) A few years later, another one of our cars, a 2003 Dodge, produced some trouble codes that suggested the transmission control module needed to be replaced, and what I had found indicated that this might just be the start of the troubles. I took the car to Kevin and shared what I had learned from my scanner and followup research. When Kevin came back with the solution it turned out to be the car's battery needed replacing. I had Kevin order a battery and the car has been problem free for 4-years now. 3) A couple years after that, the 2006 Chrysler, blew hot air when we tried using the AC during a road trip. I picked up a test gauge at a BigBox store and concluded that the freon was low. I took it to a nearby auto AC shop where they tried adding freon then basically condemned the whole system. We were 500-miles from home, and the pitch to do the job seemed tempting except that we were not yet at our destination and we were going to a scheduled event. We considered renting a car and leaving ours at that shop, but decided to put up with it until we got back home. When I took it to Kevin, he's first reaction was that he didn't do AC system rebuilds. I asked him to check it out anyway and oversee working with another shop in his building if deep surgery or a freon adjustment were needed. When Kevin came back with the answer it turn out to be a fan relay cutting off the AC system. Kevin changed the fan and had the other shop vacuum empty and recharged the freon. AC has been as good as new ever since, going on 2-years. Background disclosure: I had worked in the new car dealer industry for about 10-years back in the late 70's and 80's. My experience concluded as General Manager of a large Mercedes Benz dealership. In the 70's I had personally owned as many as 15 cars at one time. In all my experience I have never known any auto electrical technician that could come anywhere near Kevin's expertise and honesty ethic, not one. Conclusion: Auto electrical systems is an area of car repair that can be challenging under the very best of situations. I trust Kevin, and I think you should too.
