I have purposely waited to write a review on Sportsman Built. I wanted to see consistency in a field where the customer is normally not as educated on the service they are paying for. This makes it difficult to find "your guy" for maintenance or repair work. My first experience with them was actually through my mom sometime in the second half of 2019. She had two bad customer service issues at two different locations. After sharing those experiences to our local convenience store, she was referred Sportsman Built. Her experience, the quality of work and price kept them in the back of my mind. It was fair and my mom had a good experience. I do not want anyone swindling her or putting her in danger with low quality work. All she knows about cars is which ones are cute. I have always been cautious of where I bring my car for service. I have even struggled to bring it into a dealer for recalls over the years. (No worries I got them done) To date I have brought in both my mom's Hyundai Tuscan and my own Lancer Evolution for different repairs and maintenance several times. Do not let their name intimidate you. They can work on any car. My first visit was for a transmission issue (yikes!). It did not sound or feel right to me. Sal, the owner, asked to go on a ride along to help in diagnosing the issue. He asked me how I had heard of him. I shared my mom's experience and gave him details on the referral. He had no clue who I was talking about LOL! THAT WAS A GOOD THING! That means that he did work for what could have been a random customer that had a positive experience worth sharing with others. I felt good about it. He saw that it was a minor issue due to a previous shops error. Along with an oil-change, I was happy with my experience so I went back. This review is getting long so I will not get into every visit. I will say that my experience has been consistently positive. His waiting area is hands down the nicest and coziest one I have ever entered. We have done tires (both cars), oil, brakes, rotors, a stud repair that snapped on me while changing a flat, alignment, diagnosed and provided me with information for the Tuscan and a manufacturing issue they extended warranty on. Google it. We would have never known! And recently coilovers after my stock suspension gave out on me. I normally pre-purchase my own parts, but went through Sal for the coilovers. He quoted me the same best price I found online. He also listened and gave his honest opinion prior to purchase, which was opposite mine. He knew what he was talking about but never dismissed where I was coming from. Knowing how I felt he even sent me a ride height picture. You can see it on the gram just search them up. Why did I take this time to write such a review? In today's world, small businesses that are doing good business should be recognized. It is family operated. Sal, the owner, stands by his work. He understands that every car leaves with his name on it. His team takes pride in the quality of their own work that Sal knows reflects on him. I have told him that people need to know about his shop! I am confident that you too will have a good experience. This one took time but an easy 5 STARS.
