We came here for a special date night dinner before a concert at Agua Caliente. The night before we got a call from Daniel letting us know he was excited to have us. We originally had planned to be there at 6:15 but due to traffic we weren't able to get there until almost 7. We called to let Daniel know and he was totally chill. Once we got there, we found a quaint restaurant with 3 other tables filled and great smells coming from the kitchen. Daniel soon brought over the menu board, and talked about some highlights. We took are time to pick two starters (dates and shrimp), a cesar salad, and then we got the short rib and the lamb. I cannot recall the specific dish names, but I can say they were spectacular! The flavors were deep and complex, the balance perfect. My wife wanted red wine, he let her try two before she chose her favorite for the night. We ended with a small scoop of the vanilla and it was amazing. Throughout the dinner, Daniel checked in on us and talked, it was great to have that connection with the chef. Fresh farm to table fare with attentive service and good ol' fashion classics filling the room (and I mean REAL classics as in Sinatra and Armstrong)! Upon arrival the staff effortlessly brings you their gigantic menu which is ever changing to keep up with the seasonal ingredients. We ordered the duck charcuterie board. The fresh baked bread served alongside is reminiscent of North Italia with a nice crunch and brush of olive oil. The duck prosciutto was cut thick, salami tasty and candied kumquat just the perfect balance. Other tastings included the grilled dates and flatbread. For our entrees, we ordered the tenderloin (cooked to perfection and seriously melts in your mouth) and lamb shank. Both were served with creamy mash potatoes and grilled veggies for a healthy side. Our waiter Alejandra was lovely(!) and so knowledgeable about the offerings for evening. She truly takes pride in her job. Francisco provided top notch service, keeping our glasses full and quickly whisking away our dirty plates. MVP of the evening was Daniel of course and his sous chef who happily labored the evening away to perfect each and every dish from scratch. How do we know? Because we had front row seats to the open kitchen concept and enjoyed every bit of the food magic that unfolded. Love finding these hidden gems where the people that run it truly love what they do. We had a 5:30 reservation on Wednesday night. When we walked in and there were only a couple people at the eating bar. We sat down and our server came over and asked what our water preference was. They don't have cocktails but have wines by the glass and Im not sure of beer, but they probably do. Our server brought one a chalkboard with the days menu. we ordered the Mac and cheese and The Grilled Dates - ricotta cheese, honey, berry compote, chilé sauce and Red Miner's Lettuce - pickled sunchokes, strawberries, feta, lemon dressing, toasted pistachios for starters. the dates were delish, kind of reminded me of a campfire marshmallow believe it or not, the date was a little charred on the outside like a marshmallow when you were a kid, they were wonderful the red miners salad was also lovely with goat cheese and pistachios. Entrees we had ,Santa Carota Beef Short Rib - coffee, maple demi glaze , New Bedford Scallops and grilled shrimp - spinach-basil creme, egg noodles , and the Striped bass, all were excellent the food here was some of the best in the Desert! For dessert we had the Berry tart which was really good. Our only concern, and all three of us said the same thing, It would have been nice if more people were eating. At first glance, it's a diamond in the rough--located in a strip mall next to some less appealing spots. But step inside, and you'll find a brilliant, 10-carat gem. The small, intimate setting, complete with white tablecloths, gives the restaurant a sophisticated feel, akin to something you'd expect in Palm Desert or Palm Springs. Yet, Daniel's Table rivals any fine dining establishment in those cities. One of the standout features is the ever-changing daily menu, which is crafted with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and complemented by a well-curated wine list. On our visit, the offerings were reminiscent of a family-owned European restaurant, featuring exquisitely prepared sushi-grade salmon, bison ribs, and other delights like crab cakes, blue cheese-stuffed dates with a spicy sauce, and salads bursting with freshness--all part of a thoughtfully designed three-course meal, handwritten on the chalkboard. Chef Daniel is a five-star talent in a one-star location, making the trip to Cathedral City more than worthwhile, no matter where you're coming from. His kindness, humility, and generosity shine through, not only in his interactions with guests but also in the surprisingly generous portion sizes, especially given the reasonable prices. For example, it was my birthday, and Daniel surprised us with a decadent chocolate cake, complete with a sparkling candle. When my wife mentioned her love of figs, he brought her a basket of fresh ones to take home. It was our first visit, yet Chef Daniel made us feel like his most cherished guests--a lesson many restaurants could learn from. When I asked why he chose Cathedral City, he proudly explained that the affordable rents allow him to offer higher quality meals and better service. Mission accomplished, Daniel! I have visited Daniel's Table twice in the last few weeks for a total of at least eight times this year and I just simply can't say enough about the quality of the ingredients, the skill in his preparation and his unique dishes. Not to mention a great atmosphere you would not know from the outside. Great cuisine in the Coachella Valley is hard to come by. I think this is a place those who are looking for that should experience. This is not fast food so allow yourself ample time for him to prepare your dishes. I've added a few photos of small plates, including steak, pork and falafel's and most recently I had the mac & cheese and half roasted duck. I ate the duck so quickly because it was that delicious Chef Daniel provided me with a picture of the whole duck before he served it. I believe the duck may be coming back on the menu in the near future. His menu changes because he will only serves the freshest ingredients. If it's not a fresh product he won't have it on the menu. Visited the place and we were the first to arrive with our 7 person Supper Club. Atmosphere was absolutely perfect. We were impressed at this point. Daniel the owner was quite charming and we enjoyed conversing with him. The place only has a beer and wine e license so take note. The only people working is the owner Daniel and a chef/water guy/server, which probably was the cause of some Of the issues I will be speaking about. . They have a prix Fix menu on a board with 3 or 4 options over 3 courses. No prices so we had to ask (I don't get why places do that). Wine selections were interesting and some were good, some not so good but he gave us a lot of free bonus bottles, which turned out to be quite necessary because it took 90 minutes for course one: 2 people working equate to very slow service. One couple stayed about 15 minutes and left when the owners back was turned. Anyhow, the 3 courses was $79 with option for a la carte, but who wants to ask what each item costs? Course one was crab cakes. Not sure if everyone agreed but mine were overcooked a lot unfortunately but since it took 90 minutes (thank you wine) I still ate it and wasn't about to send it back. Course 2 was some type of bitter greens salad that was OK. Course 3 was short ribs. Everyone who had them mentioned they were too salty. I actually enjoyed them though .. perhaps thanks to the wine: We all wanted to enjoy the place more (we still had fun because we made it fun, and Daniel was a great host for our experience, so we were rooting for success, but over 4 hours for a 3 course meal is just too much. No dessert options but geez it was 11:15 by the time we were done eating. We had such a great time at Daniel's Table. The food tasted very fresh and so flavorful. I like that the menu is seasonal (though I was eyeing some dishes from previous years that obviously weren't on the menu when we visited). The lamb was grilled over fresh wood (I think Chef Daniel said white birch?) and was absolutely to die for, especially paired with the figs that were flambéed with brandy. I also really appreciated that Chef Daniel provided a complimentary amuse bouche that was not on the menu. At the end of our meal, we had time to ask Chef Daniel questions about how he cooked some of our favorite dishes, and he even showed us some of his cooking equipment in the back. Yet another lovely dinner! We had a nice (mindful & demure) girls dinner, I was THRILLED when I learned that our reservation was at Daniel's Table!! ... we had a nice table and the restaurant was nice and quiet with just a few other dinners, as we got further into our dinner the restaurant grew livelier! We had sooo much to each other- great portions, stared with pork belly mac n cheese- must try to know the hype! We also ordered the calamari... oh, that sauce! We had salads which were also excellent! On to entrees- I had fish my friend had steak! Not sure why or how but we also ordered dessert! Chef Daniel was awesome as always! When you walk into Daniel's table, you feel like you are entering a private dining experience. We were immediately welcomed by name by your hostess who was also our server for the evening. We knew we would be in for an intimate evening when Chef Daniel came out himself to welcome us. Everything on the menu is locally sourced, aside from the wines which are carefully selected from biodynamic and organic European vineyards. Our first taste was an amuse bouche of perfectly seasoned anchovy, tomatoes, flatbread and fresh herbs. Everything was seasoned with coarse grey salt and excellent evoo, which tied all the flavors together. Our next course was a tomato flatbread with pesto and manchego. Due to an allergy, chef crafted our pesto to order. It was melt in your mouth delicious. The salmon mac and cheese was magical, bite after bite, and the braised beef short ribs with fresh vegetables and herbs were perfectly seasoned, sauced and cooked. The evening was rounded out by delightful and attentive service and a wonderful conversation with the chef that went late into the evening. Absolutely horrible. Granted, it was New Years Eve, however, the slowest service ever. Arrived at 7:30 pm and finally received our salad at 9 pm. Unacceptable. Overpriced and terrible service. Food was mediocre at best. Main meal finally arrived 3 hours after arrival. Unimaginable! Will never, ever return to this restaurant again. To make matters worse, we commented to the waitress that two of our meals were not cooked properly. The expensive ribeye steak was extremely tough and also the salmon was not cooked entirely through. The owner/chef approached our table and was very confrontational. Very defensive. This was appalling. We only asked to have the steak meal removed from the expensive bill. Instead, he felt it was necessary to confront our table. He even said to us, I can show you the invoice that this was a ribeye steak. Why? Who does this? Daniel's Table is my new favorite table. I have a long list of food allergies and it often confounds restaurant owners and chefs. Not Daniel. When I gave it to him, he sent back to me a work-of-art vegetable plate that met my vegetarian needs and made my tastebuds sing. My partner's mahi was also amazing, he said. When our main courses were over, Daniel surprised us with a dessert that cleansed our palates more. I don't have enough words for how good the meal was or how great the service. Oh! And, you have to try the grilled dates stuffed with goat cheese if it's still on the menu when you go. (Everything is farm-to-table and seasonal. Daniel drives to nearby farms to get the ingredients and you can tell.) BTW: As I'm writing this, my partner is reminding me of more things to tell you about... Chef Daniel has been a happy memory for us for well over 4 1/2 years. We became avid fans of his after experiencing his creative genius at his first PS restaurant, Balisage back in 2014. Unfortunately it closed and he fell off the edge of the earth a few years back. His many minions were quite sad. It wasn't until October 2018 that I got wind he was back, even more inspired and magnificent than before. This time we drove 60+ miles, just for him. His new location is small, intimate, tastefully decorated, located about 6 miles south of the usual PS tourist hub, on Hwy 111 in a rather dowdy strip mall. He is only open for dinner at this time. The kitchen is small as is the operation; he had only one assistant helping. I know this primarily because we had the auspicies of sitting at the Chef's table watching him work. He has quite a reputation in Palm Springs for his catering business, but the restaurant was empty the evening we visited, with the exception of one other couple who opted for Chef's Table as well. What luck for us! It turned out to be one of the most delightful evenings, especially with our very own "personal chef", that I can remember. Perfect wines. While the list is currently limited, it was exciting. To help us choose, Bruce, our excellent waiter, offered tastes to help us decide. There were two reds that stood out, an Italian wine, Art of the Earth Montepulciano, and a Spanish wine, Ego Bodegas Goru Verde Monastrell. The Ego Bodegas was our favorite. With our meal choice being a 3 course offering, our glasses of wine were $5 ea. The 3 course, seasonal menu consists of one entree off a list of about 6 items (including the special of the evening), then a choice of two more items from other categories...it could be an hors d'oeuvre, a salad, a soup, a dessert. We made sure we did not duplicate so we could taste many things. This was priced at $55 per person. FOR STARTERS: "Almost 1924 Caesar Salad". This is not your usual, over dressed Caesar. Made with fresh, high quality ingredients, completely organic, local suppliers, excellent cheese. Roast Duck on Flatbread - Served with fruit (nectarine?), greens (arugula) and manchego shavings. Very special. He makes his own flatbread to order, and bakes it until it is cracker like. Then the remaining components are added on top. The contrast of sweet, bitter, and salty, sharp cheese is perfect. It really didn't need the duck, it was already perfect. Chicken Soup- His is a light, subtle broth seasoned with tumeric and saffron, to which he added chunks of chicken breast with skin, a bitter, wild spinach, and yellow squash. It took some getting used to, but I totally understand the genius behind this dish. It is very healthy and intended to be healing. Roast Shrimp- Three plump shrimp presented as a small tapas with delicious, dry cured olives, and a fresh roasted tomato sauce with cooked citrus peel and excellent EVOO. Knowing Chef Daniel, there were more, subtle ingredients. OUR ENTREES: Lamb- Pasture raised and finished, cooked to a rare temperature, dotted with feta on a bed of basmati pilaf, with roasted vegetables. Elegant. The seasonings were quite Mediterranean, with sumac, preserved lemon, roasted garlic, fresh herbs, and maybe even a touch of cinnamon (?). Wild New Zealand Snapper- A large filet, watchfully grilled over an open fire using a mix of fruit woods to impart a fruity, smokey flavor. The topping was a combination of capers, peppers, roasted tomato, roasted garlic. I am usually wary, but I swear I will never, never hesitate to try his seafood dishes. This dish was as close to perfection as is humanly possible. THEN CAME DESSERT (extra): Flourless Chocolate Cake- This was quite unique. The dense, dark rich chocolate wedge came drizzled with his own version of chocolate sauce and a black honey sauce. One of the sauces has cardamom spice. It was topped with a dollop of delicious citrus cream. Expect a slow dining experience. We nibbled, sipped, and conversed with our neighbors, Chef Daniel, and Bruce, our server, for almost 3 hours and felt it was well spent and completely enjoyable. The flavors are clean because the ingredients are clean. He chooses only the best pastured meats, organic vegetables and fruit, free range poultry, and wild caught fish. He loves playing with his spices and herbs (he grows his own), and spoke excitedly about his growth, inspiration, and passion for creating foods from all over the world, adding his own signature touches. He is a gracious host and quite proud that the majority of his clientele tend to represent a select group of very health conscious, hollistic, and knowledgeable food connoisseurs. Look for him. He will be there. He has committed to a 7 year lease and has big plans coming. Word of advice: put in a good word for the revival of his special blend cheeseburger. His ground beef is extraordinary. This is a great idea since some people may be more into appetizers and some may want more desserts! We love appetizers and glad we got 3 appetizers and 1 dessert to share. Daniel's Table is an experience---not just dining out. The restaurant is small, but you almost feel as if you were eating at the Chef's table in the kitchen. You take your time, and the servers will give you a detailed description of each dish. We have been to Daniel's Table several times in the past couple of years, and each time it gets better. We looked for information before we went to the restaurant. It only had good reviews with the exceptions of the price, lighting, and chalkboard menu. So we thought we were in for an experience. It was odd that they required a $10 per person reservation hold. Had never done that for a restaurant before. That was true through our first course of salad and appetizers for our party of five. Yes, the waiter kept reminding us this was only his second day. I don't like spicy hot items and was not expecting that on the plate and it was very hot. My husband and I ordered 2 glasses of wine, the pour was short for both and mine more than my husband's. Then we waited for more than 90 minutes for the entries. There were only 4 other couples in the restaurant and the Chef had time to come out and chat with the 3 couples at the counter while we waited. When the food came, my order was wrong. I had ordered something else. They said that they would get me what I ordered. So I waited for an additional 20 minutes to get the correct order. The waiter told me that the Chef had trimmed the lamb to be just the loin so it would cook faster. The meat was bloody in the center and the vegetables were almost raw. Neither seasoned well. The fig relish served with the meat was delicious. I had waited 2 hours for an entry, I was not in the mood to complain and ate my entry. My Husband ordered a flourless chocolate cake to share with the table. It was good but hard to cut. The chef did come out to our table later and offered me crab cakes to make up for the mix-up. He asked how we liked it. I didn't really acknowledge that he was there. We will not return. I know some of you will say that I should have complained then and not here but really thought that this needed to be here as there were so few negative reviews. If I had seen this review I would have thought twice about eating here. Just ate the crab cakes, to salty. Couldn't finish because of the salt. read more

Tonight, four of us went to this dining establishment and had one of the best meals of our lives. The food was spectacular, due to the owner/chef's philosophy and methodology of cooking and serving food. The restaurant is one large room with tables and chairs, no booths. Our server was young, perky, and easy to deal with. Since this restaurant is a farm to table type, it uses a variety of ingredients, some of which may not be available at cooking time. Therefore, the menu can change and manifests changes via a blackboard with white chalk writing, indicating the dishes served that day. The menu is not extensive, but there is a fairly wide variety of different types of dishes to eat. One thing I didn't like was the fact that prices are not posted, instead they're called "market price." I know what market price means, but the chef has to have some idea of what he's going to charge for a particular dish. On the one hand, it encourages adventuresome ordering. On the other, it isn't fair to the customer who might be sticker shocked by the end of the evening. We started with some wine and then the amuse-bouche was served. A tasty treat with some bread, goats cheese, tomato, honey, and some onion sprouts on top. Very tasty and definitely an appetizer stimulant. Next came the appetizers and were spectacular. The wifey and I ordered warmed up dates with three different types of dipping sauces. Yum, yum, and yum! Everyone shared salads and I had the Caesar with anchovies, dressing, and a whole egg. Very traditional and tasty. The "fly in the ointment" came after we finished our salads. A lull of approximately 30-40 minutes or so between the salad and the entree. In the meantime, the food server came by twice and strongly suggested more wine. I should have strongly suggested faster entree delivery to her. The problem with this place is that the chef is the owner and only has one sous chef to help him. He prepares all the food and thus things get backed up in the kitchen. Finally, the entrees showed up and our branzino fish was excellent. We decided to order dessert: the flourless chocolate torte was excellent and also the baklava was ordered. I didn't care for the baklava at all. There wasn't enough honey to keep it moist and sweet. Finally, my wife wanted a decaf and they simply don't serve it. A big mistake late in the evening when one wants to have that kind of drink and then attempt to sleep. The two are mutually incompatible. I give this restaurant four and a half stars because of the issues mentioned above. Would I come back? Most definitely! read more

Perhaps this was an off night for this restaurant, but we were underwhelmed by the experience. The menu selections looked promising. Yet, the best part of our meal was our salads, both of which were fresh and tasty with great flavor. We were excited by the cheese stuffed dates, which turned out to be just fine. And, buyer beware of the wine list, which is in transition and is not listed anywhere. Probably a good thing, as the red we tasted was way too heavy and the white we chose was not the light flavorful wine we wanted on a hot summer night. We each had a fish dish and thought the execution to be fine... not elevated or really creative. Just fine. But the worst of it all was that we arrived at 6:00 on time, was the only table with patrons for 30 minutes, and we were finally served our mains at 7:20. Unacceptable delays throughout. The problem was in the kitchen, because our server was a delight throughout providing suggestions and being attentive. Of course, with only one table... then two... one would expect that. The final straw maw was when we used the QR code to pay and the server rushed out to politely tell us that we had not paid... which we did. Not the best experience on any level. And we left quickly without dessert or coffee because we had to get to a show 15 minutes away. read more

Food was just okay. Arrived at 6:30 and received our entrees at 10p.m. Very small portions and although our server was very sweet, it took sooo long to get our food. Overpriced, small portions and 4 hours to get our food means we won't be coming back. read more

Hidden gem. Coming from out of town, I always look for unique places to visit. This was it. Food was outstanding. Everything was perfectly cooked and balanced. Service was wonderful. The entire experience was quiet and personalized without any rushing to turn the table. The chef came up to check on us and make sure everything was to our liking. My only regret is I don't live in the Palm Springs area to continue to visit. I will definitely be back some day soon. read more

Chef Daniel is a maestro in the kitchen. He is also a fun guy to talk to. Every bite was delicious and unique. We have enjoyed great food all over and this meal with Chef Daniel was the best. I need a sixth star. The restaurant is beautiful, warm and comfortable. Daniel expertly guided us with our wine selections throughout the evening. Daniels Table stands alone for a farm to table restaurant in Cathedral City. What may not be so distinctive is the location and restaurant itself. The menu and online are the same, no "specials" per se, which was very disappointing. The menu is not rotated or updated so what you see, you can get. We have tried numerous items and found that there's nothing especially grand going on here. From a food truck cook to singular chef (no prep or sous) you meal is a loooong wait. Service is special, and that's about it-prices are ridiculously high for the location and limited menu. read more
