A delightful bistro. The menu is mostly built around cicchetti (basically the Italian version of tapas) although there are other options.
I was warmly welcomed despite not having a reservation (although, I am staying in the hotel). The server was helpful and friendly. She offered to talk me through the menu or leave me to my own devices if I preferred. After I chose three cicchetti and one pasta from the tasting menu, she recommend an excellent Pinot Noir that well with pretty much all the dishes.
The cheese plate included ubriaco, castelmagno, pecorino, and gorgonzola. The portions were reasonable.
This was followed by sesame coated falafel, scampi, and a prawn risotto. Each was tasty and a reasonably-sized portion.
I chose the bacon and potato ravioli with squid ragout for my pasta. This was the only "miss" on the tasting menu: the flavor of the squid overwhelmed the rest.
For dessert: a tart-like crunchy pastry with custard and berries. It was good, but I wished I would have ordered the sorbet instead.
Service was terrific throughout.
I recommend Danieli Bistro for a casual but excellent meal in Venice. read more
