Mel works miracles! I am going to Vegas for a vacation and I needed a little more wow to my hair. If I had gone some where else I know I wouldn't be as satisfied with the end results. I had used a box dye previously and unbeknownst to me it is notoriously difficult to lift out. Well Mel did just that. She found a product that took out a lot of the red without affecting my natural roots so the bleach works wonders on everything. When I called to make my appointment, the woman came off as annoyed and snooty when I asked about the different levels. The cut and color was done well, however, they do need to realize they are in Covington and not Seattle with the pricing. I half expected champagne and a foot massage for what I was charged. Ladies, if you are expecting Beyonce or JLo to come by and fork out the fat cash, you are going to be waiting awhile. High end does not need to be high priced. Ok, this might be kind of long. I have never done a Yelp review but, I feel this is necessary! My boyfriend booked me a hair appointment for Valentines Day (So sweet) at the Covington location. My appointment was for 12:30 for a FULL blonde foil with Breklynn. I did not even get in the chair mind you until 1:20. So that was frustrating right there!I I was there for a total of 4 1/2 hours. At first I loved it and my whole experience except when I went to ring out I noticed there was a $35 fee for toner that was never discussed with me but, she agreed to knock it down to $10 since we did not discuss that part. She was a stylist #3 so after tip and hair cut it came to $200. That was the most I have ever paid for my hair! Well I didn't put my hair for a couple days and that is when I noticed a big black streak right through my bangs! I called that day and they made me an appointment for a couple days later no issue. My appointment was for 4:45 and I didn't get int he chair until 5:20(so frustrating again) I was there for roughly 2 hours. I noticed the black streak again but, I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want her to try and fix it(since she wasn't able to the first 2 times) So I was going to call the next day. When I woke up i straightened my hair for the 1st time since I had got my hair done and noticed that in half of the places the foil didn't even touch the roots and my full foil was actually a partial. So I called and spoke to the front desk manager Heather and she said I had a 5:00 appointment that evening and was very friendly. So I showed up and this time to my surprise the stylist (Jess the manager) was waiting for me. I was thinking i am finally going to get this fixed. (How wrong was I) Jess said she would be doing my hair along with her assistant(Riley who was new) but Riley would only be doing the washing and styling. After 3 yes I said 3 attempts my bangs still had the black streak and the over all gloss she used to even the color out turned my hair a copper gold color. Then Riley went to get the manager to let her know what happened and with out even saying a word she had left! So Riley called her and explained what happened and she said just return $130 of her money because there is nothing else we can do. I spent a total of 9 1/2 hours in a 3 day span at this salon! I paid $200 and only received $130 back and I now have copper blondish brown gold hair and no solution! I just couldn't believe the way they handled this situation! I have been going to Daniel Ross for about two years to maintain my blonde hair for my wedding. I have always gone to Lauren and I am ALWAYS satisfied with her work. She is honest and has a great talent for color. But I do agree that I have experienced serious unprofessional attitudes from the girls at the front desk. I have waited over 15 min in the waiting room before they even call Lauren to let her know I have arrived. If it wasn't for my techinition being so great at hair care, I would never go there again. read more

Disappointed. I have been going here for 10 years...a DECADE! That's pretty long. My kids have come here too. I have referred so many people here and even though I love some of the stylists, after today, with everything going on, no more. I call to get two cuts, myself and my young daughter cause its been awhile with all this madness going on. So I cant get in on a Sunday, but I can on a Tuesday. Great. I proceed the tell the receptionist that I will also have my young son with me because guess what...NOTHING IS OPEN FOR KIDS RIGHT NOW THIS SUMMER SO MOTHERS ARE STUCK WITH THEIR OFFSPRING ALL THE TIME...ALL THE TIME...But okay. She tells me the reception is not open, and I say, well he will be by me because he is YOUNG. She says, well he will have to stand because of social distancing...I said, you cant provide a chair for him...nope. Because of social distancing or whatever...so my question is, if the masks are sooooo effective, whats with the social distancing?? So basically for me to come to your establishment, my young son just has to stand there for what, 30 minutes, to stay away from the stylists? Even though he has a mask on? I am all for supporting small business, cause hey, I get it. But when you loose your HUMANITY in response to fear then that's a problem for me. Give the kid a friggen chair and let him sit next to his mother for GOD SAKES. I literally JUST got back from this salon. The other day, I had gotten highlights done at another salon, and the girl totally took out all of my natural color, turning my whole head bright bleached blonde! Combined with my pale skin tone, it washed me out completely and looked absolutely miserable. I called here, and told the person on the phone my predicament. She scheduled me with Jessica for the next day for a color correction. This salon looks like a pro salon from the get go. They have a full spa, high ceilings, and they offer you beverages while you wait for your stylist. A very cool water fountain was in the back, where they wash the hair, and funky lights all around. A very cool atmosphere. The girls working here were all very friendly, and didn't come off as stuck up or snotty (VERY important to me when finding a good salon). Jessica sat me down, went over what happened and what I wanted, and pulled out hair splotches to make sure she was matching my original color just right. Then, she got to work! Oh My God. She fixed it! She put my original color back in (lowlights, obviously) but didn't take out the brightness I had originally desired. She only took about an hour, and was very friendly and professional. At first, I was a little apprehensive, given that I had horrible about my hair for the previous few days, but the minute I got home and looked in the mirror I squealed with joy. For a partial foil, it was only $100, and she was magnificent. They have lots of products, and they offer a free hand wax and massage with each hair service they offer. Apparently I was never "checked in" even though I came in and gave the front desk my name, appointment and I heard them call my aesthetician over the speaker... Mariah is THE girl for balayage. I will never go to someone else again. I have dark black Asian hair and I have been to just about every expensive salon. Nobody has handled my hair properly without it looking orange and brassy. She tells you right away what is realistic for your hair. She got my hair light without sacrificing the health. She is also upfront about the pricing at the very beginning. In the past stylists have added on charges after the session for length, thickness and extra products. About a year ago I went to a different salon and got a cut and color from the owner of the salon. I left with "layers" that were extremely uneven, bangs that were cut from my "sideburn" area, a red that was 3 different tones (dark at my scalp, light through the middle, and even darker at the ends), and bleached bangs that were orange. To say the least it was a nightmare. Yesterday I went to Daniel Ross. My stylist Michele worked so many miracles on my grown out, fried, butchered and terribly colored hair. I went from having 3 different coppery colors and terrible orange bangs and grow out to having an beautifully vibrant red that's even all over with little hints of lighter red to make it pop. She mixed 3 or 4 different formulas alone in order to get my hair even. She fixed my uneven layers and gave me the exact cut and color I asked for. When we were completely done she went BACK over my hair piece by piece to make sure all of it was perfect. I couldn't have asked for a better stylist or experience and I'm happy to say I'll be a regular there from now on. The salon offers complimentary paraffin wax hand dips, water/tea/etc. and the curl or flat iron your hair when you're done. The setting is very relaxing and the staff is very nice. read more

I am so frustrated right now. I never say bad things about a company, but this is so ridiculous. I made an appointment for 10/15 at Daniel Ross Salon in Covington. They never asked my number, and apparently had the wrong number and when they texted that number they canceled my appointment. So whoops someone made a mistake. Oh well. I then rescheduled for a couple of weeks out. I called the day before after work to confirm my appointment, and ensure they had the right number. And they said everything was good to go. I get there this morning and they said the stylist had called in sick. I asked if they could somehow accommodate me, and it was a simple no. Not even an offer of a percentage off or anything to compensate for this happening two times in less than a month. I feel like if a company values their customers and their time, they will have some sort of plan in place when things like this happen. Definitely won't be scheduling there ever again. I am going to contact the owner. It is very likely that they don't even know this is happening. But if you are going to book there, confirm a few times before wasting your time. read more

Scheduled an appointment for Saturday Aug 8 at Daniel Ross in Bonney Lake. I arrived on time for my appointment only to be told the stylist was an hour behind. I asked why I was not called as a courtesy given it's an entire hour? The stylist replied "she just noticed" and could put me with someone else. I responded by telling her I was referred by two people, named them by name and she just looked blankly at me. Here's a tip: in your line of work it would be best to play off like you knew who rather than no idea and indicating you are so bad with names esp. after being told they referred you and you had just seen one of the people less then a week ago. Also, how are you an hour behind schedule and not know? After an internal tug of war, I decided I would reschedule for an hour later rescheduling my afternoon plan. After leaving to find something to do for an hour, I decided to call back and confirm that if I would not be delayed longer again, the solution again was reschedule and no big deal- it's not your time -it's mine! What's more amazing, you honestly think I am going to pay ~$280 for lack of service and professionalism? To the salon and the stylist, your attempt to resolve is not a solution it's a band-aid, which tells me this is acceptable in your salon and likely not the first time this has happened and won't be the last. Stylist: If you would have personally called after you saw I cancelled and acknowledged the situation, made an attempt to be resolve and restore my business, I probably would have given you another chance. Not only did you lose my business but also my two daughters. People are your business, know who they are and treat them professionally and with courtesy, their time is important and your services aren't free. EPIC FAIL! read more

My mom had come across this salon after seeing an ad about their microblading services on Facebook. Crystal is nothing short of amazing! She explained the process step by step to my mom during the consultation and even showed her some before & after pics of clients she has worked on. On the day of my mom's appt, she reassured her that everything will go smoothly and went over the procedure one more time before getting started. She made my mom feel at ease! I randomly googled a hair salon near my home and stumbled upon Daniel Ross in Covington. I have gone here 3 times now and all three of my visits have been nothing but positive. All the ladies that work here are super friendly and sweet and want to ensure all of your questions are answered and you are satisfied with your service. It can be a bit pricey for the service, but for me, someone who gets their hair colored a few times a year, I would rather pay extra for amazing service and the receiving the outcome I want. If you're looking for hair and makeup for your wedding, go to Daniel Ross. I got married at Wine and Roses Country Estate in Auburn last year and they were amazing and accommodating. I was on a strict timeline and needed to have myself, 6 bridesmaids, 1 junior bridesmaid and 2 mothers ready with hair and makeup by 11:30am. I communicated this with them and they sent me a schedule fitting everyone in from 9am-11:30am. There were several hair stylists and 2 makeup artists so we rotated. I had Morgan do my hair and Crystal do my makeup and both turned out great. I also did the trial with them. I considered having them come to the venue to do hair and makeup but it was so much easier (and more affordable) going to the salon. My bridesmaids (who have been in other weddings before) thought the price for hair and makeup was good/fair ($110 + tip). I attached a picture of their wedding prices from their website. She was courteous, friendly, and educating about my poorly conditioned hair. When I was done my hair was soft, conditioned, absolutely beautiful. You made my salon experience so worthwhile. My first trip here was just for a quick trim... My current stylist is a good friend of mine & will be going on maternity leave, so I was trying to plan ahead and find someone close to my house. One of my other friends goes here & loves her stylist, so I thought I'd give it a try. I called for either a same day or next day appointment, and the person available was Holly. (They base their pricing on experience level of the stylist, which has always annoyed me about salons like this.) Holly is a level 1, so her pricing for a cut was what I was used to. When she greeted me, she seemed nice but very shy and quiet (the polar opposite of me). I'm not saying I wanted a chatterbox, but our conversation was a little lacking and awkward. I was happy with my cut, and when I checked out she gave me a small bottle of moroccan oil (love!), and asked if I wanted to schedule my next appt for color. Having looked at their pricing online, I had guessed that it would be very comparable to what I was paying with my friend, so I made the appointment for a week later. I knew I had a gala & a formal Christmas party to go to in November for my husband's work, so I was excited to have my hair done before that. After this first appointment, I would have given them 4-5 stars! The day of my appointment, I found a few photos of what I wanted (super dark brown w/caramel/golden lowlights - think Kim K), showed her the pictures, and told her I liked a more sporadic highlight, rather than a symmetric look. (Looking back, this is when she could/should have suggested the balayage technique, rather than foils!) She warned me that she may have to tone my hair since it was so dark, and I told her that I had never had to have this done before, even when I had very light hair (except once & the stylist had to tone me 3 times and didn't know what a lowlight was... BAD experience, but didn't charge me for the toner!!). She then told me that they charge $26 on top of the color to tone... this is when I should have quit (Why should I be charge for inexperience or using the wrong level of developer? Isn't that technically your mistake?). We agreed on the partial foiling price, plus an additional $16 for the 2nd color to touch up my roots, which I was fine with because we were still under $100 at this point (and I was confident I wouldn't need a tone). It really seems like they nickel & dime you here! As she was putting the foils on, it seemed like she was using a LOT more of the light color, rather than the dark brown that I love. I wanted subtle, sporadic light pieces. After she put me under the dryer, she said my roots were a LOT lighter than the rest, and said we'd need to tone... & showed me. I was furious, but just said fine. My roots were very orangey-blonde, but the rest of it looked pretty good. She put the toner on, let it sit about 10 min, and then back to the chair. When she took the towel off, I almost cried - my roots looked like someone was holding a spotlight on them- VERY orangey & golden in comparison to the dark chocolate brown on the rest of my head, and there was a lot of the light color (NOT what my photos showed). She started to dry, & at this point I already knew I was either going to have my friend fix it or do it myself. She stopped & told me she should tone me again... fine, but knew that I was done (I was expecting to be charged for a 2nd time, but surprisingly wasn't). As she was applying the toner, I was thinking the toner seemed like an awfully light color, but I'm not the pro so I didn't say a word. 15 minutes later & another rinse, and it didn't look much different to me, but I was over it. She dried and styled it and honestly, I loved the color from about halfway down my head and on... but the roots were practically orange. There was another stylist there who had the EXACT hair I wanted (but of course I didn't see her until it was too late). I mentioned it to her, & she said "Oh, she more than likely does the balayage technique so it's more sporadic than the foils". Seriously?! Isn't that what I asked for?! I'd go to that other stylist, but I'm sure she's much more expensive. I had already paid almost double what my friend charges! The next day, I got advice from 4 friends who are stylists back home & bought a dark chocolate demi-permanent color & toned it myself and it turned out much better, but definitely was NOT perfect. I'm having my stylist fix it this week before I go those 2 events for my husband's company in Montreal next week. As the demi-permanent color has washed out, I see the orange more and more & just get frustrated all over again, so I don't want to see it in any photos from the parties. I meant to call DR and let them know, but after reading other reviews from people who called to speak to the managers about their poor experiences, I can see there is no point (plus I don't want salon credit unless it's for product! read more

Knowing that it was going to cost me a little more money than I would normally spend. I scheduled with a level 1 stylist since it was Daniel Ross salon I still was going to get a great cut and color. Not true! I believe Alyssa knew I wasn't happy and offered if I wanted to come back within 1 week and get more highlights I could for no charge. The Spa area is located in a separate area as the hair salon; leaving you feeling relaxed and just overall peaceful! I have continuously been going to Olivia since she started her career in hair. My hair is hard to deal with as it soaks up dark colors and doesn't hold on to blonde very well. Olivia has always gone above and beyond to make my hair turn out how I want it with all of the challenges my hair presents. I only go to her and will for as long as she does hair. She's taken me from dark brunette to red to platinum blonde and I am always extremely happy with the results. She's friendly, accommodating and always happy and cheerful. I couldn't recommend a better hair stylist. She takes pride in her work and will bust her butt to make sure her clients feel beautiful and good about themselves after sitting in her chair. Not only is she a professional but she takes the care and attention of remembering things about you, which shows how much she truly cares about her clients and wants them to return. Being able to sit in a chair for a few hours and chat about your life and hear about hers is something I look forward to each time I have an appointment. I've been going to Daniel Ross Salon for about 2 years. I always tip well. I always see the same stylists. She's never been someone who is exuberant or chatty. Which is fine. I'm there for a hair cut, not a new best friend. That being said...I was there a couple weeks ago and it will be the last time I go. I got there, got checked in and she called me back. It was obvious that she was having some kind of day. No "hello, how are you". I told her what I was thinking with my hair, she was non-committal, didn't really respond, just directed me to the area to wash my hair. I asked her how her horse was doing and if she was getting ready for the show season. She said she was working the weekend so she could get the next weekend off for a horse thing. Then she said that's why she just wasn't "feelin it" and that she really didn't want to be there. Okay. So I'm sitting there wondering if I should be flattered by her honesty or put out by the fact that she can't suck it up and be professional and leave her problems at the door. When she was done cutting my hair I asked about the sides. I was a little concerned that it wasn't laying flat. Normally she flat irons my hair and then trims to get it just right. She seemed put out that I even asked about it. At that point I just wanted to leave. I paid my bill and was getting ready to leave when she came out for her next appointment. She was all smiles and a big hello. Again, I'm not there to make a new best friend, I don't care if she doesn't like me, but she should at least be able to be professional. read more
