At first I was going to go to one of the bigger company stores but when I looked online I just felt they were overcharging on everything, whereas the Mattress guy gave me a great deal and took away my old mattress for a small and reasonable fee. All in all the amount I paid was great value for the great quality and I love that it's made locally and I'm supporting a small local business. The delivery guys were super friendly and easy going and my whole experience was just fantastic. I would definitely recommend and will go back for my next purchase. Also, I don't know if I ever want to leave my bed. It's sooo comfortable!! I love it!!

This is an employee review, so a little different perspective than the other reviews. I was brought…read morein to help with sales inside the store while also developing outside sales revenue as well. The owner is nice and the other employees were great. The problem was the wife of the owner who has kind of taken over running the front part of the store. She hired me and I was supposed to work 3 shifts a week in-store and then the outside sales on my own time. The pay for the inside sales was hourly while the compensation for the outside revenue would be commission although she kept avoiding my questions when I tried to pin her down on how that worked. She was always evasive about it and the regular wages were paid in an even sketchier way. My first six shifts went fine and I was selling things and negotiating pricing. The customers liked me and I had even gotten two solid leads on outside sales with a pretty big builder and a new private school. I came into my next shift and worked only to have my immediate Manager tell me the owner's wife had replaced me, but that I could still do the outside sales if I wanted. Yeah, right. Sum total. 7 shifts worked. I signed an employment agreement, but was never given tax forms to fill out. I got completely screwed by this company and by the wife of the owner. Prospective employees beware.

The staff at sleep country (both the store and the toll free number) didn't care, and lied to me that the delivery crew would return the same day. Sleep country expected me to pay extra to have it removed three days later. What a disappointing experience. Needless to say, I will never shop there again, and feel a bit worse about humanity today because of this company.

The…read moremattress delivered to us was used, it was already dropped a little bit on both sides of the mattress. We called customer services and they said the computer shown "brand new" but they will let us exchange another one and need to wait 2 weeks to be delivered. We had mattress protector on the first day until today the replacement was delivered to us. After the delivery guys took the old mattress down the ground floor, they found a slightly yellow stain on the side of the mattress and said we may need to pay cleaning fees or they will take back the replacement and it was our responsibility to check it. I told them it was a used one and we did not notice the stain on the first day and signed the delivery paper without making a note. Although ended up we did not need to pay the cleaning fees and got the replacement. It troubled and worried me, I needed to examine the replacement very carefully to make sure no issues. Sleep Country is so called a big company, they collected the returned mattress and sell as brand new, it is not ethical. They should sell it "as is" or donate it. I don't trust Sleep Country anymore and will not recommend it to anyone and will tell everyone my bad and unpleasant experience.

I have been going here for my foam needs since the 1990s and have sent many friends and family there and all have been happy. Anyone complaining on reviews, in my opinion did not follow up properly with them as they have bent over backwards to be of help to me and others. They're still in business because they're honest, kind, have a variety of foam products many foam stores don't carry and they do custom foam cuts for your needs. The store itself doesn't have lots of bells and whistles, as the owner is intent on passing on savings to their customers. You want a place you can trust won't upsell or sell you something you don't need? Discount Foam is the reliable choice. No they didn't ask or pay me to write this. We got a new mattress, which seems good and a decent buy. Time will tell. Then we bought a used sleeper sofa. I should have known better. We saw one in the showroom and it looked used, but decent. Used is to be expected for the price. The one that was delivered is really so far worn as to be a really poor deal even at $250. I tried giving it a clean with some upholstery cleaner and while it's better, it still looks very worn. The worst part is the sleeper mechanism seems to be on its last legs and doesn't close properly leaving a gap under the seat no matter what we do. The mattress looks clean, but is incredibly lumpy. I regret buying this thing. Although close examination in the showroom seems like an obvious solution, it's nearly impossible because everything is jam packed and many things are stored in duplicate at the warehouse, so even if you look at the one in the showroom, it may not be the one you get. Getting it back out of our apartment is going to be really difficult. On the bright side the delivery people were excellent and did a great job getting this beast in. And the people at the store were very nice and tried to be helpful. I just wish I'd stuck to my gut that $250 for a sleeper sofa, even surplus, is too good to be true. With no returns and all sales final, I am feeling sad tonight. For casegoods and small items like lamps, I'd shop there again, but I would beware of upholstered goods, particularly with working mechanisms like sleeper sofas unless you can sit on and examine the actual one you will receive.

This is when things fell apart Given it was a standard size, a double, I asked Farooq to explain why it was a custom order Despite phone calls, emails, and three visits to the store but he wasn't in, he never communicated the reason. I was open to accepting his explanation, I met a wall of silence Because of that, I will never recommend sleep shop

Serious missteps, but ultimately resolved with accountability…read more Our initial experience with Sleep Shop Richmond was deeply frustrating. We were sold a mattress that was visibly used, stained, and torn, despite being told in person it was new and discounted due to lack of warranty. Attempts to return it were met with lacking explanations, and it took considerable energy to get traction on a resolution. That said - the company ultimately took full responsibility. They arranged for the pickup of the soiled mattress and, despite Saturday not being a usual delivery day, delivered a brand new replacement at no cost the day we were leaving town for a longer trip. That effort is appreciated. This review reflects the full arc: a situation that started with unacceptable business practice but ended with the company making it right. I'm still cautious, and I wouldn't have gotten to this outcome without persistent follow-up - but I do acknowledge that they stepped up in the end.
