Location wise, you can't get much better if you're in town. Right across from Stephens Green and a 1 minute walk if even from the end of Grafton Street. If you go here on a Monday to Thursday, you can get a cocktail for €5. Would highly recommend their strawberry daiquiris - beware of brain freeze!! I've met up with quite a few different friends in here, its a nice spot to pop into after work to catch up with friends, never too loud and who doesn't love a deal on cocktails?! I've been to the nightclub twice and wouldn't be a fan. Prefer it just as a spot to get a couple of drinks in after work when it's not too packed.

go here on a monday to thursday and you can get a cocktail for €5 and i really like the decor, plenty of seats and a nightclub downstairs. i don't however like the music i've heard recently on a friday, its pretty headbanging stuff with no lyrics but maybe i sound like an auld one! this place tries very hard to be trendy and usually works, they even have Dane Bowers as a DJ there though i've yet to see him there. i also like the fact that its young and hip without being fun of 18 years olds. sorry if you're 18 but i don't like being chatted up by someone whose only started recently to shave!

Reservation/Party appetizers: sausages, potato wedges/chips, onion rings, spring rolls, chicken wings, chicken goujons/strips.

Time: 9pm-1am, Thursday night to Friday morning. Event: University society party, reserved event. Pros: ~Food: We had appetizers, which were simple and delicious (see pictures) ~Drinks: Cocktails were only €5. For a drinker who doesn't go out much, it's nice as they have a cocktail menu (picture posted), since I didn't know what to order. Waiting didn't take much time. Cosmos and Pink Lady were rather plain to taste. Sour Bush was simple with that kick of whiskey. Bikini Martini tasted like fruit juice. Amaretto Sour was like having raspberry ice tea. The Dandelion Daquiri was frozen sugar alcohol. Tequila Sunrise was like having orange juice. ~Music: Originally there was live music until about 9-11pm, then the DJ took over. The live music generally consisted of acoustic pop music, which was soft enough where it hovered in the air as background music and you could talk without raising your voice. When the DJ took over, it was so loud you had to raise your voice a little, but not too loud. ~Atmosphere: It is very put-together and has an 'upscale' feel without being TOO formal or TOO casual. I could dress up Audrey Hepburn style (simple black dress with pearls) without feeling out of place. Then there were others who just showed up in clubbing clothes or even just a nice shirt and trousers. ~Service: The staff was quick to respond to and clean up any messes us university kids made (as university students tend to 'pre-drink'). They took short while to clear tables of empty glasses, long enough for them to make sure you're finished (if you leave food left over or part of a drink left over) Cons: ~The pool table in the back, where we had it reserved, didn't have REAL pool balls, it was the white ball, the 8 ball, then blue and yellow balls with a plastic rack. It was €2 to play each round. ~The TV is not too obvious in the venue, not a good place if you're a sports fan. ~The bartenders tend to be too busy to smile at you. You have to wave them down and be ready to dish your order. They will also take time to talk to other staff members in the middle of making your drink. Personal background: I had NEVER previously heard of the place from any of my friends in the past 6 months I've been here. I'm not much of a pub-goer, unlike most people I know who go out in Dublin. I absolutely dislike shouting or raising my voice at pubs. I like to dress up somewhat classy, or at least semi-formal when I go out, and I'm not much of a dancer/clubb-goer. I like to sample sweet drinks that's not kicking with alcohol.

I was on a…read moretour of Ireland and asked about dance venues and my Collette trip advisor name dropped Copper Face Jack's. I got there soon after it opened and I loved it. Loved the venue, loved the energy (although much of it was probably fueled by alcohol, I don't know- I'm part of the rare, lonesome breed who doesn't need alcohol to flail around like a maniac). Point is, the music selection was stuff you could dance to, so no complaints there. The DJ refused my request but I have weird taste so fair play. The bar staff kept me hydrated- they were on top of their game. I stuck around for two hours until there was literally no room left to dance due to the growing crowd. They wouldn't call a taxi for me which I guess is fine because so many cabs are already there, but there were other complications that weren't the club's fault so it's just me having a moan. All told? I'd definitely go again. If I ever come back to Dublin, anyway. Or Ireland in general.

This was a couple of years ago and we still tell stories of this place to this day. The place is straight raunchy. It's packed and people spill their drinks so much that they've hired a guy to consistently mop the floor, and the dude cuts through the dance floor with his mop like a hot knife through butter. Though I doubt this is helping the situation, since I saw someone collapse on the dance floor at least once every 30 minutes. I actually enjoyed the music. They had a live band play until midnight(?) and then had a DJ after that that played everything from Galway Girl to rap to Galway Girl to country to Galway Girl.... The crowd is mostly made up of young (university age) people walking around plastered with the deadest eyes you will ever come across in a living organism. Some of the best people watching, though; it's like the Walking Dead meets that Project X movie, but everyone is Irish. So, in sum, if you haven't been and are looking for a night to (partially) remember - go this place.

Great cocktail menu, the bartender I dealt with was charming, he even deviated from the menu to do my favourite cocktail. It's moderately sized, interior is modern, comfy couches. Music is chart, the DJ was abit too volume happy so we had to shout to talk and then we gave up and just focused on drinking the cocktails. At one point I thought I was at convention celebrating the show Sex & The City which then shifted to me thinking I was in a lesbian bar. It was thronged with well done up young women and hardly any men. Boys if you want to score a chick, this is the place for you! Girls if you want to score a chick this also is the place for you but in a very Sex & The City hook up kinda way, that is they will be straight again the next morning. The only reason why I am giving it three stars is that it would not be my scene and the music is too loud but it's a great place to pre-game it with some cheap well made cocktails before hitting another spot.

We walk around the corner and see a crowd of people out front. Ask the doorman if we can pop in for a drink. After a quick look over we get the A-OK to enter. Down a few steps on the left we head for a bar and quickly order our drinks. After a few, friendly words with other patrons we settle in and take a look around. This is going to be controversial, but I swear, this is what I saw for real. Not kidding, not exaggerating. For real. We are sitting to the side of the main bar. A bartender is pouring bottled water into a bottle of Jameson. Another employee came over and is talking to her while she is doing this. She 'squishes' the empty bottle, making that crushed plastic sound, before throwing it into the trash. Then she puts the pour spout back on top of the Jameson bottle and walks back into the main bar area. O.M.G. Really? Why me?! It is at this point I think to look at the Yelp reviews. Whoa. First thing I see is to the effect of 'my white friends got in, but not me'. Second thing I see is 'Asians not allowed'. Holy mackerel! My SO and I take a serious look around and O.M.G., no kidding, not one non-WASP in the joint! I feel dirty and disgusted. I have no idea that anyone in here has a clue of this fact, but now that it has been pointed out, it is so very clear. We left just as fast as we could. I will never return.

Previous reviewers have commented on the shell-shaped seating around tables which are really nice. It gives you that feeling of being in a jazz club in a black & white movie. It's comfortable, intimate, and well, a little bit special. Probably my favourite element of the Sugar Club though is their varied programming. On any given week, they will have anything from burlesque to hiphop to an 80s classic or live band. Some downsides too - the toilets are pretty average - it would be cool to see something a bit more plush to go with the general vibe of the place. In line with this - the price of drinks. If I'm paying this much for drinks, I want to be somewhere ultra fecking plush. OR (preferably!), I'd prefer NOT to pay so much for a drink. Tucked down Dame Court just off Dame Street, The Stag's Head is one of those rare pubs that feels genuinely historic rather than designed to look old. The building dates to the late 1800s, and the interior retains the ornate features of a classic Victorian "gin palace"--rich carved wood, stained glass, brass rails, and a warm, glowing bar that feels wonderfully preserved. We stopped in around 4:30 pm, which turned out to be a perfect time to visit. There were other patrons enjoying drinks and food, but the atmosphere was calm and relaxed rather than loud or rowdy. It felt like the kind of place where locals drop in for a quiet pint on their way home from work before the evening crowd arrives. The staff were excellent--friendly, welcoming, and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very good (we failed to take photos because we were too busy enjoying it). As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to see the Impossible burger front and center on their menu; it was deliciously prepared with guacamole on a brioche bun, and not an afterthought on the menu. My companions both chose the Irish Beef Burger, and said it was excellent. One thing to know: this is a traditional Victorian pub, so cocktails aren't really part of the program. Expect beer, wine, or spirits rather than mixed drinks. In a place like this, that actually feels exactly right. Other pubs do serve mixed drinks. Between the history, the ambience, the quality of the food, and the wonderful staff, The Stag's Head is the kind of place that makes you feel like you've experienced a real piece of Dublin.
