If you don't have time to waste waiting around for the "one" stylist at other places, or an expensive private stylist, then this is the option for you. I've decided to give Danckuts since it was local and seemed to have good reviews. I booked an appointment online and was greeted nicely by staff and vibe of the space was cool. When my barber began my haircut I was asked what I wanted and I needed my sides cleaned up and the top trimmed. During this time I was shown my hair progress ONE TIME and it was to show the mediocre job "fading" the sides. Moving towards the top of the hair I was told "I don't know what to do with your calic." That's fine since Asian hair is difficult to cut but I trust your judgement. I finished my cut and wasn't shown the back of my head nor given a mirror to check the sides. Later that day I washed my hair and tried to style my hair as usual and noticed my calic wouldn't stay down or conform to its shape. I checked the mirror to find that it has been completely mangled. There's not much I can do at this point other than let it grow, or cut my hair short. Do I think Danckuts is bad? Not necessarily. I believe their system of logging clients haircuts and not creating favoritism amongst their staff is great, but it comes with a caveat... your barbers need to be of equal skill. read more

Three years ago I was referred here by a coworker and i tried it because it was different. It isnt a salon or a barber shop so don't worry about running into ladies with curlers in their hair or men getting a shave. But you will get the best of both, from friendliness and a skilled haircut. I normally wouldn't wait too long to review a local business. However unlike restaurant dinning, essential things like haircuts are usually self explanatory. But today I experienced something which requires me to share. Over the course of 3 years I've had the opportunity to have my haircut by the best of Danckuts. Hayley,Lauren,Rochelle, Brittany, Zach and others that are newer but their names slip my memory. Each time they would offer advice and over the course of 3 years my hair would evolve into something that made me unique and comfortable. It speaks to the level of patience, understanding and the ability to let their craft shine. I always have seen haircuts and hairstyles as artwork. The way a fade looks airbrushed from the contrast of light to dark and the style of some haircuts that requires hair products and blow drying. It's the reason why Danckuts is different. They will powder you're trend to make you feel like you're haircut is the best in the room. My last visit was embodiment of what makes it so different. The hairstyle that I had that evolved over the course of 3 years no doubt was not something everybody was comfortable doing. And it was becoming more evident that my haircut was remorsefully given. I understand it was different and it was perfect almost every time. However this visit was the visit I was told I couldn't continue that hairstyle any longer. Due to the changing of the staff I was told it is becoming too difficult to be able to train others to be able to efficiently carry out the style of haircut. And they offered to do it one more time and then between now and my next appointment figure out what I wanted to change my hairstyle to or sadly find somewhere that could do it. It was unfortunate, but it's not a big deal. Hair grows until it doesn't. I appreciate them being honest and helping me because a haircut is essential. And the you lady that took care of me also took the time to go through the haircut with me and show me the different ways it could be. So I referenced back to when I first started going there in 2018 and I said well I didn't mind how it was before and I If it makes it easier and keeps my haircut consistent then I'm fine with that. And the fact that they take photos of each haircut when you visit was extremely helpful. Because we all are vain but not to the point where it should make you lose your humanity in your patients and understanding. So we changed it up. It was also the longest haircut I've ever had It was almost an hour. But that's your shows the level of patience and the desire to provide exceptional service similar to a salon. Because they want to make sure you leave happy and that you look good and you feel good. Also during my haircut there was a gentleman that arrived 20 minutes late. They took him anyway which was very kind. However when the next appointment came in they were inconvenienced due to the gentleman tardiness. The manager empathize with the customer that was waiting, an the gentleman that was late popped off in a rude way. He said something along the lines that he's close with Zach and even if he was on time they still couldn't help that customer that was being inconvenienced. It was uncalled for and disrespectful. He was arguing the fact that because there was no available seat open that his tardiness was irrelevant. He could have just been happy that he wasn't turned away or asked to reschedule. Because I've been late and I've rescheduled it with no issue because if you're late you're late. That's a personal problem and it shouldn't be forced on the employees of the establishment that you are wanting business from. But through all that she kept her cool. She was calm even dealing with a grown man and his petulance. At a barber shop that gentleman's stupidity, selfishness and arrogance wouldn't fly. But he would fly out the door. Hahaha. But the level of customer service and professionalism sets them apart from other haircut spots. They make sure you have a comfortable visit each time. And although the drinks are free you come back for the haircut and customer service they provide. read more

So this haircut place has a pretty cool concept. They try to get feedback on a haircut style you want and then log the information into their system so that if you come back for any stylist, they will ideally be able to give you the same haircut. Before getting my haircut, I was given a chart of various haircut styles and asked to circle the ones that resemble a haircut I would want. I thought that was pretty cool since pictures tend to describe and capture the idea of what I wanted better than me just trying to explain it all with words. I ended up getting Loren for my haircut and she started off explaining the haircut method at Dankcuts and their philosophy and approach. She was very knowledgable about her craft and as she was cutting my hair she explained why she was doing each type of cut. For example she said that because my hair was thin yet there was a lot of it, using those texturizing shears would be a bad idea. Instead she cut meticulously into my hair using a certain method. Overall I was very happy with service she provided and her knowledge and expertise, but the haircut didn't end up quite as I wanted. The haircut itself is even and well cut, it just didn't quite match what I was looking for, since some of the sides were a bit poofy for my head shape. That being said, when I voiced this concern Loren was very amicable and even offered for me to come in at another time to fix any issues. I ended up opting against this since she did point out that if I cut my sides more they might puff out even more. Overall I had a great experience service wise and I very much enjoyed Loren cutting my hair, but for my particular hair and hair style, I'll probably be better suited elsewhere. read more

4.5 stars. I'm almost tempted to give Danckut's 5 stars, but like some other Yelpers, I want to see them follow-through on the promise of precision repeat cuts before I make that decision. I've been home in Tustin for a few months and decided I needed a haircut. After a quick Yelp search of nearby places, I was impressed by the solid 5-star rating of Danckut's with over 200 reviews. That said, a lot of the reviews were from people with fewer than 20 reviews; I am happy to add my review to the mix! I called to make an appointment but called during their afternoon break, so received a text message response a few hours later. It was actually kind of nice being able to schedule my appointment via text messaging. I was also fortunate enough to be able to get an appointment for the very next day. Danckut's is located in the Trabuco Plaza, not exactly what I had envisioned in my head, but it's nice having adequate parking. Once you step inside, it's a welcoming and modern establishment. The store is not big, with a front waiting area, coat rack, four stylist seats/chairs, a lavatory, and two hair rinsing stations. I was greeted by Agustin upon entering, who checked me in and explained how the process works since it was my first time. He had me circle with a pen four hair styles closest to what I desired on a laminated sheet with about fifty different haircuts. I was also offered a beverage and I opted for a small bottle of water. After a short wait, I was called over and Haley (spelling?) was my stylist for the day. Since it was my first time, she also explained how their unique system works, how Danckut's believes in factoring in face shape and bone structure in their cuts, and how they specifically make notes about your haircut and take photographs so that they can replicate the same cut on your next visit (if you so desire), regardless of which stylist cuts your hair. A novel but sensible concept! Haley did an excellent job and asked for my input at several points during the cut. We also engaged in some small talk and I learned about the origin of the store's name. At the end of the cut, my hair was rinsed off (just water, no shampoo or conditioner), then Haley applied some product and dried my hair. I went up to the front to get my photos taken and pay. The haircut cost a flat $35 and I tipped 20% for a total of $42. Yes, Danckut's haircuts are definitely pricey but I have paid in this range for a haircut before for a much less satisfying haircut. It has been a while since I have been so genuinely pleased with a haircut, but at Danckut's, they really deliver! You definitely get what you pay for: top-notch quality "haircut engineering." All this talk about tech, but at best, they give a subpar haircut. Just look at the pictures and judge for yourself.

This is a tough one because I love the shop, the concept but to be honest the hair designs are inconsistent and at times can be rather disappointing. You can always go back and they'll try to fix it for you but sometimes the only way to get rid of the dumb and dumber look is to shave it all off. With this in mind, the only way to know if it's good for you is to give it a shot and experience it for yourself. Customer service is good and when they do get it right your hair will look good. Every time I come in for a cut, I come in looking like caveman and when I step out, my hair does look better than before I walked in and at times did they achieve what I wanted, no, but I do look better than when I walked in Don't be scared with all the bad reviews. read more

In and out in no time when you make an appt which in my case was same day so it's very convenient to schedule an appointment. Though the personnel is changing constantly, the end result is always the same cut as before, if it's what you ask. They document real well all changes and it works out great because the consistency is guaranteed. I recommend this place; $35 a cut is a good deal here. read more
