We made reservations and were sat soon as we walked in. Ordered a drink. Had the pig and the fig for an app. Yummy!! Delish!!! I would've ordered another just to have as an entree!! I have always driven past this location. I was invited to a CME dinner, I had reservation when I saw the plates (those old bone color ones). It was a set menu, I had Halibut, mashed potatoes and a vegetable. I will say the sauce on the halibut was good, the mashed potatoes were good. The food was barely warm, when asked to heat it up, it took forever, I was thinking they were remaking it. Nope, same food, the server said the plate is hot. How do you return the food and it's still not hot? The Halibut was fishy and pre-packaged. I won't be returning. read more

We shared the mini lobster rolls - so good and we each had a mini filet with the butter and blue cheese upgrade. The best thing about this place is the service. Our waitress was very attentive and responsive to our needs . The ambience wasn't bad either for the area. We came here after my sisters' high school graduation. There's 6 of us so we ordered a ton of food. We didn't like most of it. A lot of the dishes we ordered -- we were already familiar with, but it just felt like the chef couldn't execute them properly. Like he's not used to making these dishes at all. I'm leaving a detailed review because I believe this place has a lot potential. We ordered: 1. Fried Kale (w/o Parmesan cheese) -- way too greasy and oily to be the healthy appetizer it was supposed to be -- also the grease/oil overpowered the flavor -- it tasted like nothing 2. General Tso Cauliflower -- was delicious but for some reason it's made with buttermilk, so it's not an option for those of us that are vegan/plant based which was annoying considering how limiting the menu already is 3. Off the Hook (salmon tacos) -- my dad hated these and he loves salmon. He scrapped off whatever green sauce was on them tacos, took them out of the tortilla and ate the salmon by itself. 4. Baja Tostadas (w/o the shrimp) -- these were delicious !! Favorite thing I ate 5. Chopped Salad (w/ chicken & w/o chicken) -- my littlest sister (12 years old) ate the one with chicken and she liked it, meanwhile my mom hated the one she ate without chicken. Felt like it was soggy and the ingredients were not fresh. 6. Beet Salad (w/o cheese) -- extremely plain and not flavorful 7. Ahi nachos -- I like this dish at every other place I've tried it besides here -- it had a weird overwhelming taste of mayonnaise and I couldn't finish it 8. Impossible burger -- tasted delicious but it did NOT taste like an impossible burger, which really threw us off being a primarily vegan/plant based family 9. Impossible tacos -- I didn't get to try these my mom ate them so fast haha! She said they were super delicious 10. Crispy Brussels Sprouts -- delicious! But the ends weren't cut off so they were unnecessarily bitter and tough to chew In addition to this I ordered a sangria which I enjoyed and I think we also ordered a couple of hot teas and soft drinks. The total came out to around $180 and we were not satisfied. Really hope this place turns around eventually! An opinion - the lines of restaurants in Mokena/Frankfort that make it a quaint area are overpriced and average, at best, which is unfortunate. Dancing Marlin fits that bill, having gone there twice and each time left with a big bill and a feeling of "blah." From overpriced drinks to small portions of tapas, we were disappointed each time. The atmosphere is why it gets 3 stars, because if this was based solely on food, it would be a 2. Service is friendly and good, but the food, for what you pay, is not up to the same quality. The food is OK but not great. The service is terrible. After being seated, waited 15 minutes before the Server showed up. (We timed it) Had a party of 5. Two of the entrees were served and it took 5 minutes before the next two were served. Had to finally chased down someone for the 5th which was a salad. One on the orders included a side of fries. They were not delivered until after the meals were finished. The Server dropped off the bill and left. Had to find someone to pay the tab. The ambiance was nice, but the music was so loud that we could not hear one another. If you are looking for a quiet diner, this is not the place. read more

I think this is one of the best brunch places I've tried in the southwest suburbs We ordered the egg bfast (2 eggs over easy, which could've been a little less runny), the burrata, the beers, the mushroom truffle omlette, the kids side pancakes, and the crab dip. Everything was so flavorful and great! Our table favorite were actually the pancakes, SO FLAVORFUL with nutmeg, cinnamon, and other spices! No need to any syrup. I didn't expect much as the South Side doesn't have many new, inventive restaurants (and I'm from this area). But Dancing Marlin really surprised me! It's primarily a Tapas place but they also have the Impossible Burger which is awesome and tastes like a real burger. Many places are having it on their menu. We started with the Fried Kale, General Tso's Cauliflower, The Fig & Pigs and Roasted Bone Marrow. I really don't like kale or cauliflower but these were both REALLY tasty! Really cool idea to turn cauliflower into General Tso's. But the 2 stars of the show were the Bone Marrow & Fig and Pig. Best marrow I've ever had and super inventive dish with the fig and pig. Ton of flavor! For the mains, we had the Daddy Mac with braised pork, Spicy Garlic Shrimp and Brussells Sprouts. All were really good especially the Mac and the Sprouts. Superb! For desert we had the Flourless Chocolate Cake and Berry Cobbler. Both were amazing but the cake was next level! Great little spot. The ambience is very nice. The dining area isn't extremely large, but they made good use of the space. There is also a small bar in the corner. They also have an outdoor seating area that is nice to use when the weather cooperates. My wife and I visit this place on special occasions, such as celebrating birthdays or anniversaries. Had a reservation set at 8:30pm...Upon early arrival the greeter used our reservation to seat another couple.And instead of being accommodating he also commented that they close at 10 FYI which he seemed to rush us and had no consideration even though there was a table available.We sat at the bar which the service was sub-par....The first time we were here it was a great experience.This time very disappointing.It's hard to say if we'll be back...And for the food it was 50/50 so sad for this establishment. read more
