Absolutely delicious! We did a medium spice level on the Cajun seasoning on the Blue Crab and Snow Crab. It was the perfect level of heat for us. If we ordered again, we'd just do the Snow Crab just because there's so much more meat than the Blue. The boil came with corn, red potatoes and broccoli. We ordered the hush puppies to start. 10 small hush puppies came out piping hot in a basket with a side of ketchup. Crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. Well seasoned and tasty. There was only one other couple in the restaurant. So, we were skeptical about what was "wrong" considering the empty dining room. There is nothing to explain why. Food was on point. Beers were ice cold and only $4 a piece. We'd definitely go again and hope more people do, too. Staff was lovely.

I visited the jumbo crab on a Friday evening around 6pm. I was surprised that it wasn't super crowded. We were greeted and seated right away. For apps we ordered the fried pickles and the mozzarella cheese sticks! Def a great price point for the quantity received for both. For my meal, I ordered a pound of snow crab legs and I added extra corn and boiled eggs. The pound itself comes with one corn and broccoli. I also ordered steamed rice. For my flavor, I ordered the special that includes Cajun, garlic butter and lemon pepper. It was very tasty and not too salty which is a huge plus. I don't like a lot of spice and went with the mild! I'll def be back to Jumbo crab again!

Me and my family love seafood and cajun style food. We are always on the hunt for restaurants that offers the best seafood for our buck. We have been to several restaurants, some good and some bad, but by far this is the most affordable of them all. The sauce they mix can still be improved. But the serving size and price i cant complain. Im definitely going back to this restaurant.

We came here on Sunday night, group of 3 and got a table right away. You only need to reserve if there is a group of 6 or more. We tried fried calamari and Cajun fries for appetizers and they were excellent. Then we got the weekend special with extra side of corn and green mussels. It was delicious!! My favorite were shrimp and green mussels. I would definitely come back again.

For me the service was too slow, we had a large group that arrived at 7 but didn't receive food & drinks until 8:30. Our orders were not brought out in order and you couldn't hear what the server was calling out. My appetizers came out minutes before my food, the lobster was a nice size but over cooked and no flavor. The sauce was on the shell but not on the meat. The 1/2 lb of crab legs was only a thin cluster and anyone that has had a broil before knows how much a 1/2 lb is. The drinks were $10 and watered down, several people on my group sent theirs back. The service was soo slow. We wont be returning due to seeing many yelpers having the same issues and their has been no improvement. It's too many other restaurants in the area that are able to do this the right way.

So I'm sad because this is my second review. I was here about two years ago and my second experience was a let down. We ordered the seafood boil and the flavor of this sauce was over seasoned. I asked for the garlic and it was just too salty to the point where it was almost not edible. We also order fried shrimp and the breading on the shrimp was soft and under seasoned. I'm not sure if they missed the mark because it was the holidays or the regular chef was out but I will not be returning based on the food it was disappointing at best .

In search of a restaurant where we could get crab, shrimp and some of its cousins- we decided to go with Jumbo Crab. This was our SECOND stop of the evening(next review will speak of this other place). I had seen the restaurant before, being its across the parking lot from another fav restaurant of mine. I knew it was NEW and I was a bit leary- but I had heard great reviews, so I wanted to take my chances. OK! We walk in, I see great potential. Its cozy, it has seafood theme decor. Fisher netting around the place and I'm thinking "....ok,this could be the place for this evening..." I go up to the hostess desk and she tells "I will be with you in a moment..." Cool. She then gets on phone, I shift a little bit so she can still have visual of me. She then comes to me and shares they had high top tables(nahhhh) or the bar for seating currently. I asked how long the wait was for a table? Her response with a really goofy"They never trained me on how to answer that question look on her face.." Her reply "Uhhhh, yeah, I don't know how long that would be....". THAT pissed me off. WHY DON'T YOU KNOW? OS there someone you could ASK!!!???! Anyhooo... I decided I needed this night to rock out, so I opted for the bar. BEST DECISION EVERRRRRR!!! ROBERT-Remember that name. Because if you ever decide to eat here, sit at the bar!! He was an outstandingly dope bar tender. Made Long Islands like I have never tasted with a special sugar he created that was yummily! He was attentive He was funny He was a human I wanna be pals with! We order, He kept dranks coming. Have info on specials and gave his person tips on how to order and what. Food came piping hot , delicious and the drinks... oh yeah... did I say he makes FANTASTIC DRINKS!!!!?? At nights end, I was STUFFED and FEELING BEAUTIFUL! Told him I was apart of YELP, and he invited me behind the bar to take pics!!!! GOOD TIMES, GOOD FOOD, GREAT PLACE! I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK! ROBERT!!! YOU ROCK BRO!

Ask the Community - Jumbo Crab

    Are they open for lunch?

They open at 10:30 each day.

Do they have Korean Chicken as on their sign (the big balloon) outsude?

It is not on the menu, although they are quite accommodating so I would give them a call and ask. This it primarily a Louisiana type of restaurant with a small Asian influence.

The interior is very inviting, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. It's a versatile space that works well for a romantic dinner, a casual date night, or even an evening out with family. We were promptly greeted by the hostess and seated at a table near the front window. Our server, Naomi, welcomed us right away and immediately made us feel comfortable with her friendly and engaging personality. She brought water to the table, took our drink orders, and returned quickly with our beverages before checking if we were ready to order. After answering a few questions, we decided on the fresh oysters, four-cheese flatbread, and pork belly tacos. The oysters were served first, and Naomi took the time to explain their region and variety, which added a nice touch to the experience. They were fresh, clean, and nicely briny. The four-cheese flatbread was rich and flavorful, made with fresh ingredients that really stood out. We also enjoyed the house-cured pork belly tacos--the meat was tender and well-prepared. I requested the toppings on the side, which was accommodated without issue. Overall, we had a wonderful experience. The service, atmosphere, and food all came together nicely, and we'll definitely be returning again soon.

We wanted something other than just burgers again, so I proposed seafood. There didn't seem to be a lot of options in this area, but Dancing Marlin seemed to fit the bill and was pretty close. Before going, we looked at the menu, and there really wasn't anything my little one was going to want on the kids menu - there was no seafood for the kids, not even a basic fish and chips. He saw the lobster rolls appetizer though, and that sold him, so we got in the car and headed down. When we went to order, the waiter told us the only thing they were out of was the lobster rolls, but when we asked about the lobster gnocchi that my other son was about to order, they said they could do that, so I asked to speak with the manager. She explained that they only liked to use big whole pieces of lobster for the lobster rolls, and that is what they were out of, but had the smaller pieces they normally used in the gnocchi dish. I asked if she could do the lobster rolls with the smaller pieces, and she confirmed with the chef so we were back in business. The food was all excellent. I had the seared ahi and it was delicious, but was just a small portion for my liking. The scallops my wife had were delicious, but for $38 it was only 4 scallops. Maybe kids who live around here don't want fish when their parents do, but you should at least have a kids portion of fish and chips, or some fried shrimp on the menu for them. I'm not going to order a $27 fish and chips portion for a little kid, but he also didn't come to just eat chicken nuggets or buttered noodles.

If you're a seafood lover, this is the place to dive into. Jumbo Shrimp -- A Must-Try! The star of the show was definitely the jumbo shrimp -- plump, perfectly seasoned, and cooked to perfection. Each bite delivered a sweet, briny flavor. Whether dipped in cocktail sauce, buffalo sauce or plain, these shrimp were easily the best I've had in a long time. When they say jumbo, they mean jumbo! I don't think I've ever had larger shrimp. We also ordered lake perch, and brought it home for dinner. We heated it in the air fryer and it was just as good as the shrimp! Both were coated in a light breading, that did not take away from the fish, and fried to a golden brown. They have so many varieties of fish, that we will certainly be back again to try more. Final Thoughts If you're craving top-tier jumbo shrimp and seafood with fresh flavors, Frank's does not disappoint. Highly recommended for seafood lovers and anyone looking to treat themselves to something delicious from the sea! The atmosphere is dimly lit (which I love), clean, lots of wood and leather everywhere. It's spacious but also cozy. On to the food.. my favorites have been the butterfish and the trout. I expected it to either be creamy or lightly coated pasta, instead of a pool of pesto and oil. The sauce didn't really stay on to the gnocchi because it was so thin. I used my extra pita bread to sop it up. The artichoke with hummus appetizer is also tasty. My friend got the lamb shank (chops?) and she also enjoyed her meal. The espresso martini was good but it had like a chunky shaved chocolate or something on the rim which was unnecessary and made it kind of hard to drink. We haven't tried any desserts yet but they look amazing. It was about $150 for 2 cocktails, 2 glasses of wine, 2 entrees, and 1 appetizer. I couldn't afford this regularly but it's a nice treat every now and then.

The Friday Fish Fry features four pieces of cod, each cut into roughly four-inch portions about the circumference of a quarter. This size allows the fish to cook evenly while maintaining its moisture and flaky texture. The cod is very lightly beer-battered, which we really appreciated--it enhances the flavor without overpowering the delicate taste of the fish. The standard accompaniments are cornbread and a lightly seasoned, fresh jicama slaw. One of the nice touches is the flexibility with sides--you're allowed to substitute fries and/or coleslaw for other options. I opted for a cup of the soup of the day, which was Cajun she-crab (excellent), along with onion straws. There are several other side choices available as well, some with a minimal upcharge. My last visit was when they were still on Old Western Ave in Blue Island--way overdue for a return. Let's start with the food--absolutely delicious. The three of us kicked things off with the Cast Iron Cornbread, and trust me, don't skip it. Perfectly done and a great start to the meal. For mains, we went with the Pitmaster's N'awlins Gumbo, Hickory Buttered BBQ Shrimp, and Burnt Ends. Every dish was spot on--flavorful, well-executed, and clearly made with care. The restaurant itself is pristine--clean, polished, and classy without feeling stuffy. Service was just as strong. Our server, Nick, was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience smooth and enjoyable. Safe to say, it will NOT be another 30 years before my next visit. Highly recommend.

My coworkers and I would go to the old location from time to time. Their new location opened in 2019, but this is the first time that I got to check it out. The restaurant is gorgeous! One thing that I noticed was all staff that I encountered generally looked happy. The host was super friendly and offered vegan or gluten free menus if we needed. The person that seated us also was running food and ensuring tables were kept clean. Since it had been so long since I dined here, the menu appeared smaller. I appreciated that our server Adam explained some of his favorites. The cocktail that I got was excellent. The cornbread appetizer was huge. I went with the gumbo and it was full of meat pieces. It was really flavorful. Adam was super friendly and made us feel welcome. Parking lot is tight, but they also offer valet. I highly recommend this spot if you are looking for some Louisiana style cusine.
