I am taking an evening pottery class for adults at the ACA and it is fantastic. The instruction and…read morethe space and size of the class are all very conducive towards learning, and I am learning and growing a lot! The studio is on the top floor of an old building near the center of Arlington, a densely populated town. Plan ahead to park, or be Zen about the general traffic situation in the greater Boston area. I recommend the ACA to any adult looking to develop their artistic craft. Especially if you are working from the ground up like me! You will find a supportive environment with lots of instruction and guidance.

Poor-quality camp - unfriendly to working parents…read more The teachers are great, but the camps are very poorly run and the space used isn't adequate. The youngest children occupy a very small room, and more than once were kept inside all day in spite of its being nice out, "because the big kids were outside." The management is quite poor and both those running the camp and the promotional materials are unclear about what the camp offers. On its website, the vacation camp advertises early drop-off and extended day but when, on the first day of camp, I attempted to sign up for these, I was told that I was "not encouraged" to use the services for my child. The total lack of clarity in the materials and from the people I spoke with resulted in my being unable to work a full week. I had no warning of this, and those in charge of the camp shrugged it off with a smug smile. It seems they expect all of their families to employ nannies. If you don't, then consider yourself "not encouraged" to send your child here.

I always have a wonderful time visiting the American Reparatory Theater (ART). I've seen fabulous…read moreshows here - Six, Life of Pi, The Odyssey, Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York), and most recently Wonder. Every seat I've sat in has had a great view of these high-quality productions. I appreciate that you are given a physical program, but you scan the QR code for the full program. The staff are all friendly and happy to help. They offer a nice selection of snacks and drinks to purchase that you can bring into the theater. They also validate parking at the information desk after you scan your ticket. There's plenty of great restaurants nearby to have dinner at before an evening show - I try a new one each time I visit the ART. Plus, cannolis from Mike's Pastry are nearby, so no need to travel to the North End!

May 30, 2025 - Opening Night…read more In town on G-Ma Duty and supporting my Bonus Daughter's opening performances. The A.R.T. delivered an unforgettable evening! Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York) is a witty, tender, and wonderfully modern musical that had the audience laughing out loud, tearing up, and giving a well-earned standing ovation. The chemistry between Dougal (Sam Tutty) and Robin (Christiani Pitts) lit up the stage. Their performances were heartfelt and magnetic, the songs both catchy and moving, and the direction made the streets of NYC feel like they were unfolding right before us. A brilliant mix of humor, soul, and genuine emotion. Huge kudos to the entire cast and crew for such a standout show. Don't miss it--performances have been extended through July 13th! The entire staff, regardless of positions and destinations were simply welcoming and engaging. Encore!
