Martinez Napoleon, as the lead Drifter, had an absolutely amazing voice and stole every scene he was in. The show exceeded my expectations and was an unforgettable experience from start to finish!

The Reagle Theatre is a hidden gem a few miles out of downtown. I have been to the theater at least…read morea half a dozen times and every performance has been wonderful. For a small theater serving the greater Boston area they have fabulous performances. They put on some of the most historic plays, as well as some holiday plays and shows. It looks like the theater is in the back of a school however, the seating is somewhat comfortable.. I've actually been to a few of the opening day performances and once in a while, they have a spread in the front hallway where you can get to meet the performers and producers. This takes a very personal memorable experience. There is nothing like speaking to one of the actors right after the show.. parking is plentiful with a huge lot right outside the door. During intermission, they usually have concession set up with small items like ice cream, candy, and drinks. If you're into the theatre and want to see a well practice performance of a play that you like I think you'll be very happy if you came over to the Reagle. I definitely will attend many more performances here. FYI, all the seats are great so don't fret about taking one in the back. It's still not that far away from the stage. Oh, and let me just mention most of the performances I've been to there's a live orchestra in the pit right in front of the stage.. buy yourself a ticket. Have a great time.

Add it to your list of random cultural browsing (if you keep that kind of thing) in the greater Boston area for sure! The music could have been a little louder (the volume was sometimes awkwardly low for my tastes) so that's why I'm giving it 4 not 5.

I came to Spingold several times throughout my freshman orientation at Brandeis for lectures on…read moreintegrity and diversity. My first legit visit would be to see the play Tommy! It was excellent! I didn't know who the Who was and had just seen the Lion King so my mind was made up that some stupid student production at Brandeis would not be topping that...I was so wrong. I was on my feet clapping at the end of the show. Not the most talented bunch but reflective of the Brandeis student body: not great looking but hard-working and charismatic. I'm looking forward to frequenting more of their productions.

I was in contact with Gil Rose in 2015 regarding sponsorship of a recording project of the music of…read morethe late Harold Shapero (specifically, Shapero's Serenade in D, Credo, On Green Mountain, Partita and Sinfonia). Around that time, I had sent a fairly sizeable donation through the sale of a significant portion of my record collection, and had enlisted the help of Mr. Shapero's widow to contribute towards the project as well. I was in contact with Mr. Rose again in August 2018 and was told that the recording was finally "in the can" but that BMOP needed an additional $1,000 for editing costs---with the promise that I would receive an audition copy of the CD if I again ponied up. I duly sent the additional funds but have not heard anything further from Mr. Rose. No audition CD has been received; repeated phone calls and emails to Rose and his staff have gone unanswered. At this point, I have to assume that either the project fell through and the funds were used for other things, or that there never were any serious plans to do the recording in the first place. Either way, I feel duped. The financial loss, while not inconsequential for someone of my modest means, is not as devastating to me as the fact that my promise to Harold Shapero, made shortly before his death to do everything in my power to promote his music, will now go unfulfilled. Potential investors in any future BMOP projects may want to take heed.

Cheryl is one of the friendliest, most energetic, positive people I have ever met and her enthusiasm really builds her dancers' confidence and self image. She offers a wide range of classes from ages three through adult and has competition teams for girls aged eight and up that travel locally in the spring to compete. She offers tap, ballet, pointe, lyrical, jazz, hip hop and even a boys funk class. In June they put on a magnificent recital in downtown Melrose. Tuition is extremely reasonable (about $8-$10 per class) and she rarely raises her prices. If you are looking for a low-pressure, fun, neighborhood dance school, this is it!

They were such great instructors and the class was really well structured - they covered everything from basic moves to walks, personas and twirling tassels. They kicked it off with a routine (which blew our minds and also gave a good introduction to those who hadn't seen burlesque before) and talked about burlesque as a celebration of sexuality, art, performance, etc. They coached us through practicing all the moves. It was very comfortable, not embarrassing at all. And so much fun, especially if you have a couple drinks before. The instructors rented a dance studio at the Armory in Somerville, which was a great space. I would highly recommend ensuring that the studio you rent has a mirror. I can't imagine doing the class otherwise, it really helps to see what you're doing! If you go to the Armory, check out Highland Kitchen for drinks before - it's just a couple blocks away and has an awesome cocktail menu. We only had two thoughts that they could do to improve the class - one would be to write out a list of tips for us to leave with, so we don't forget (they had so many great pointers it was hard to remember them all). And the other was maybe to teach us a routine. The end of the class was just freestyle (which was totally fun), but we agreed that it would have been fun to learn a short routine.
